Late night musings.
Dec. 3rd, 2024 04:28 amIf I had unlimited amount of money at my disposal I would absolutely go hog-wild with getting as much Christmas and Halloween decor as possible. Those are my favorite holidays, the only ones that I celebrate, and it is my dream to be one of those homes that is fully decked out with festive decorations, both inside and out. I want my home to be possessed by Spirit Halloween and what you'd see on those Hallmark Christmas movies where no matter what scene it is it looks like a Christmas catalogue exploded. And obviously not for any kind of competition or anything, just because. For the fun of it, for the whimsy. Because I want to live in both spooky and magical winter wonderland worlds.
Additionally, with that unlimited amount of money I would also make it a mission to fix those homes that were unnecessarily flipped from being uniquely gorgeous and full of character to being atrociously boring and restore them back to being their original state.

I love your goal of making houses look unique again and not just blah. The current trend of things not standing out in order to sell a house is just... boring. Unique features of houses should be celebrated and not treated like something someone has to hide. Everything gets so grey and beige and lose their fun character.

Date: 2024-12-04 12:51 am (UTC)I wonder the same thing about the Met Gala every year when almost nobody is on theme. If you have the money and means, why not go absolutely bonkers with it? I tend to be a bit more forgiving with Halloween since not everyone is that intense with celebrating, and that's fine, but even so if you're going to go with a specific kind of costume at least put a bit more effort into it. It doesn't have to be Heidi Klum level, just something that looks well put together.

Date: 2024-12-04 12:06 pm (UTC)Exactly. A lot of it is to cut corners in order to sell houses as quickly as possible, leading to the brand new homeowners to deal with renovations needed after the fact due to the poorly flipped job when they could've just, y'know, left it alone as it was. It makes me mad seeing so many beautiful homes be destroyed, especially older homes where all that was needed was some repairs and upgrades here and there. So yeah, I definitely fantasize just undoing all of that shoddy work and restoring those homes to what they were before. Mainly because I yearn for living in those kinds of homes, and the thought of someone just butchering it for a modern minimalist vibe hurts my soul.

Date: 2024-12-08 02:39 pm (UTC)Yeah. I mean, if someone wants that aesthetic for themselves, fine, but having those kinds of homes -- not just ones intentionally built that way for the homeowner but houses that were flipped from their original structure and design -- as a default is just horrid, imo.

Date: 2024-12-08 03:34 pm (UTC)Oh yes! I don't know much or care about fashion, but I do search out the Met Gala looks every year and then boo in the inside when people are not on theme lol
