rogueslayer452++ The Last Of Us Season 2 official teaser trailer just came out. I'm both ready and not ready at the same time. It's gonna be quite a ride for both those familiar and unfamiliar with the game. I will say that, just by judging from this teaser, I love that there's minimal dialogue but the scenes? The new things I see? The characters I recognize from TLOU2? I'm hyped. The production looks so good.
++ Eliza Dushku has reemerged in a new article interview where she details her new life journey and career path. I knew that she has stepped away from acting after the bullshit she had to go through with CBS, the final straw after what she's endured within the entertainment industry, which was completely understandable and I was hoping that she was doing well even if we weren't seeing her in anything. Thankfully, she turned something negative into something positive in more ways than one. I highly recommend reading the entire article. It's very well-written and explains her journey from what she went through (sexual harassment/assault, drug addiction) to her road to recovery and where she is at now at her point in her life. In short, I'm very happy for her and proud of the work she's doing. I've been a long time fan of Eliza's since Buffy the Vampire Slayer, and while she may never work on screen again it seems like she has control of her life in the way she wants it to be and the drive to help others. As the article says, going from an actress in the entertainment industry to being a certified psychedelic assisted therapist and getting her masters degree for mental health counseling is quite a turnaround, but it's an uplifting one. She deserves the world.
I actually looked up what psychedelic therapy is, and it's quite fascinating.

01. Most everyone will recommend a book or two to read, but are there any you would tell people to avoid?
Here's the thing, even if I'm not a fan of a particular book or author I will never tell anyone to avoid reading something if they're genuinely interested in checking it out themselves. Too often nowadays we see people blindly following the "do not consume this media" (via the "I read this so you don't have to") advice without thinking for themselves on the matter, and I want to actually avoid doing that regardless of my own personal feelings. If someone is interested in something that I don't care for or something that has possible sensitive subjects that could be triggering for an individual, I won't discourage them but rather nudge them to do their own research beforehand and to make their own informed decision. Because believe me, even with some books I personally love I would never really recommend them to people unless I know it's something they'll like or can handle.
02. If you take a book on vacation, are you more likely to take something you haven't read yet or an old favorite?
Most likely something I haven't read, or am in the middle of reading anyway. If the concern is that I might not like said book, this is why taking multiple ones is a good idea.
03. Do you read any genres by the season? Like horror around Halloween? Cozy Mysteries in the Winter? Romance in the Summer?
No. I just read whatever I want whenever I want to regardless of genre or time of year.
04. If you read a lot of Fiction do you prefer an author that has a series with the same character(s), or do you prefer stand-alone stories?
I don't really have much of a preference either way. If a story is good I don't care whether it's in a series or a stand-alone.
05. Is there a book that you wish you could read again, but experience it like it was the first time?
The Southern Reach Trilogy by Jeff VanderMeer and the Dune series by Frank Herbert. Both were such experiences that actually helped my years of a reading slump. There are books that you read and are good, but then there are books you read that completely rewired something in your brain. Those two series were it for me. I want to experience that all over again.
