rogueslayer452A while back I mentioned that Firefly, while flawed, contributed to knowing at least certain Chinese words and phrases that I recognized in the cdramas I watch today.
And although that may be true in some aspects, I remembered that it actually wasn't the first thing that helped me pick up the language.
That honor goes to Big Bird in China (watch here). Also additionally Big Bird in Japan (watch here), which was also my introduction to the beautiful story of Kaguya-hime. Since I was practically raised on Sesame Street I watched both of these movie specials repeatedly as a kid, it being so formative and embedded into my brain of course I would have picked up on those things without realizing it. So thank you, Big Bird. :)
