Okey-dokey. :)
Apr. 30th, 2024 02:36 am++ There are several friending memes circulating around recently: a multi-fandom friending meme, a general springtime friending meme, and a book friending meme. Go ye forth, for all interested in any of these.
++ I haven't watched the Fallout show yet, and am only vaguely familiar with the video games (I do have a Dogmeat Funko from Fallout 4), however I am relishing in people enjoying the show and especially those on the Ghoul fangirling and Ghoul/Lucy shipping.
++ Some delightful Asian drama news: CHANGE2561, a Thai entertainment company, has not only announced that Pit Babe is getting a second season (our beloved BL Omegaverse car racing show, bless the timeline we live in) but has also announced new project lineups for 2024, most of which are queer, both BL and GL. I'm personally intrigued by Goddess Bless You From Death, because based on the trailer alone it seems to be a gorey paranormal horror drama filled with suspense and mystery, that also just happens to be a BL starring the two main leads from Pit Babe. That is so right up my alley.
++ It's been announced that Park Chan-wook is developing an English-speaking television adaptation of Oldboy.
Now, I've gone back and forth with my feelings on this because on one hand the original 2003 film is a classic in its own right (as part of his Vengeance Trilogy) and as we've seen with the failed 2015 American remake you cannot recreate perfection. With that being said however, the original film was loosely adapted from the Japanese manga, and while there's no furthering details on whether or not this television series is going in the direction of the manga I want to remain optimistic that Park Chan-wook knows what he's doing and that this isn't just another cash-grab. Plus, I'm also reminded of this fantastic interview Park Chan-wook did some years ago, during promoting The Handmaiden, where he had this to say:
Anyone who is familiar with his works knows that he takes a lot of time and care with the story along with the characters, especially women characters. If this is his chance at redeeming what he didn't do initially, that's definitely something I'm interested in. We have no idea what the final outcome of this Oldboy series is going to be yet, but with his track record I want to trust that Park Chan-wook is going to do something good with this.

[...] "After I made Oldboy, I realized that the only character who is not privy to the entire truth in that film was the female character; she was the only female character in the film, and she was excluded from the truth. That made me so uncomfortable in such a big way that is spurred me on to developing Lady Vengeance. That was the genesis from which I went on to make other films with strong female characters."
