Slayers: A Buffyverse Story is going to be an upcoming original audio drama with some members of the BTVS cast reprising their roles, and Amber Benson is not only reprising her role as Tara but is also credited to be of the main writers and directors of this audio project. And good news: Joss Whedon is not involved with this whatsoever, thank goodness.

Based on the description alone, it sounds absolutely intriguing with how different and fresh the concept is. Having this "where are they now" concept but with the added layers of "The Wish" and "Doppelgangland" mixed in. No wonder Charisma Carpenter seemed very excited about this project, since she is portraying Cordelia Chase from an alternate universe where she is the one and only Slayer, and it'll be interesting to see this AU!Cordy and how different she is, what experiences she has undergone, the same with the other characters and what they've been up to. And we have a new Slayer, one of the Potentials-turned-Slayer post-series finale I'm assuming, who I'm curious to meet. And with the added bonus relief that there will be no Whedon interference, it makes me very intrigued by this story.

The audio drama will be released on October 12th, a perfect Halloween treat.

I'm intrigued by this as well because I'm excited for Amber Benson reprising Tara and Charisma Carpenter as Cordelia Chase and a slayer! And like you said the bonus yay of all this is no Whedon! :D

I just love this concept of the actors kind of creating this themselves, that it's definitely a collaborative effort at revisiting something they've loved while also bringing something new and fresh to the table. It's so cool, so yeah, I'm really looking forward to this, for sure.

I really like the new and creative ways there are at continuing telling the story. From the novels to the comics, now we have an audio drama that is a collaborative effort with the actors. It's such a cool concept, and I like that they were on board with this and the premise of the story does sound very awesome.

Even though it's not my preferred medium of choice, I can definitely listen to audio-only storytelling when it's done well and can capture my attention. And with the people behind it, I'm also definitely going to give it a listen. I'm also just very intrigued by the concept of the story. It sounds awesome just from the description alone.

I didn't even know this was happening until the announcement, it took me by surprise, but a pleasant one. :D Although not my preferred medium of choice, I am quite used to audio-only storytelling (podcasts, audiobooks), so this is going to be such a treat.

Yeah, that is the unfortunate downside. I'm sure there's something like a free trial, or sometimes there's been special limited deals of certain audiobooks available for free. But otherwise you'd have to get an Audible account in able to purchase/access it. Which is only fair, they apparently are excited and passionate about the project and you want to support that kind of creativeness from those involved.

I think I'll wait until the release so I can figure out how the purchase works. I know it's a multi part series so I'm not sure if it's a credit per part or if all parts are equal to one credit. I'm very much okay with paying to support this kind of project :)
