My Comments: Now I'm taking us way back to older fandoms. Ocean Girl was among my favorite shows during my childhood, and believe me although small seeing that there are people online who talked about remembering the show back then made me so happy, especially with the creation of fanvids. The first one was created back in 1999 (that I actually have saved on an old PC harddrive) and thankfully someone uploaded onto YouTube. It is merely just focusing on Neri with her being on her island and swimming in the ocean. The second fanvid centers entirely on the friendship between Neri and Charley, her humpback whale companion who saved her life when she was a young girl, and who she has a telepathic bond with. Both these fanvids are quite simple, feature no spoilers for the actual plot and story of the show, and is more of a calming vibe, especially with the music, and I love revisiting them for that alone.

Speaking of, both songs used, "Forever Blue" and "Wild and Free", are from the official television soundtrack. You can listen to the full soundtrack here.

Oh wow, this is lovely! She's living the dream. In her mermaid era. I love marine life and the world underwater, its beauty is unparalleled.

I think I've seen some episodes from this show. It definitely aired in France.

Any thoughts on Slayers: A Buffyverse Story? I might go for it. Whedon himself doesn't seem to be associated with it (though I don't know if he'll earn money from it) and Charisma Carpenter was happy with the project and decided to take part in it. My main difficulty is that I have trouble focusing on audio only in a language that is not my mother tongue, but it's more motivating than other audio dramas for me.

It syndicated here in the US on the Disney Channel, the first three seasons at least. It wasn't until years later that I learned that there was actually a fourth season that I hadn't seen.

I saw that, and I'm definitely curious about it, especially since it's without Joss. Audio dramas can be a hit or miss for some, but if you have the right people involved and they're engaging enough it can actually be quite entertaining even if it's not in your main language. But yeah, I'm very interested to see what this is going to be like.

OCEAN GIRL! Easily one of the best old kids' shows. I feel like New Zealand really had unique kids' shows.

Well, this was an Australian show, but I do agree! They definitely had some unique shows for kids. Another show that I didn't discover until much later, my late teens, was The Tribe which was produced in New Zealand and it's such an interesting premise.

But Ocean Girl was such a fantastic show. I really wanted to be Neri when I grew up. I still do, in fact.

Ah, that's right, Australian! It's been so long since I've seen it. I also want to be Neri when I grow up.

I have vague memories of The Tribe. It aired briefly on some channel and I only saw bits of a it a few times. No one I've ever met IRL has heard of it, lol.

Oh wow, this is taking me back. I remember being allowed to watch this right after coming home from school and before doing my homework. My mother actually always watched it with me and I think she liked it :D
I feel like around that time, Germany did not import that much children's content from the US, but focused on their own and more international productions.

It was definitely a formative show from my childhood, for sure, and that was also similar to my experience of watching it after school (and then rewatching it constantly after because we recorded episodes on VHS, which we still have along with the DVDs we purchased many years later).
