First, still adore the soundtrack and having that play in this trailer just hypes me up.

Secondly, while this is just a teaser trailer, I do like the select scenes they chose to incorporate through a small montage. It doesn't give much away of the direction the story is taking. Unless you've read the book, of course, then, if you're like me, you will look at what they included and be excited for what's to come. The only thing that I'm scratching my head at is Feyd-Rautha, because that character design is certainly, uh, a choice. I mean, nothing can match up to Sting in the 1984 film, let's be real, but so far I'm not sure of what they did here. Maybe my opinion will change once I see the movie in its entirety, we'll see.

Also, I stand corrected: Irulan is going to appear to be wearing something more elaborate. That armor headdress plus the headdress seen from the small teaser for the trailer. I'm very pleased by this.

Speaking of, I really like Lady Jessica's Reverend Mother look.

I'm still waiting for anything in regards to Alia, though. I've seen some fans worried that they might cut her out entirely, because out of everything from this novel this might be the trickiest thing to convey in an adapation (same with the Guild Navigator, which we haven't seen anything of that either so far, and I really, really want to see that), but I honestly hope they're not. I need St. Alia of the Knife! But again, I reiterate from before, I don't want them to CGI her in or something like that. If previous adaptations were able to do it, they can do it, too.

But of course, this is just a teaser and I'm sure we'll be getting more promotional stuff as we get closer and closer to the premiere date. So we'll have to wait and see. Either way, I'm excited.


Additionally, someone did a fan edit of the Dune 2021 trailer with the 1984's Dune theme, and it's pretty damn awesome.

She's born in the second half of the book, and does have a significant role towards the very end. I mean, I know she's not the main focus of the story so obviously they're not going to spoil anything involving her for audiences to be surprised, but still, I would like something that they're including her.

I say CGI because, well, you never know these days. Child actors who can act like adults are difficult to find, especially for a character like Alia who are omnipresent. I wouldn't be surprised if they aged her up just a bit, but one of the things that I loved from the book was how unnerving the imagery was of having an infant speak and behave wise beyond their years, with all the memories and knowledge of others before her. That's going to be hard to pull off.

Ah ha, okay. I didn't remember her being able to speak as an infant but, like i said, it's been YEARS. So that, yes, would be impossible to pull off without some kind of CGI 'stuff'. An older Alia could be found; there are some amazing child actors out there, I think; but not age 3 or 4 or whatever, so.... Hard to say what they'll do.

And - so sorry - I never cared *that* much for her character. At least - not at all in the eighties Dune movie, and only marginally in the book.
But to be fair, by the end of book two I basically hated everyone and was done with the series, anyway. I just could not enjoy it anymore and my forays into plot summaries and synopsis' for the rest of the books made me just nope out hardcore.

Alicia DeWitt from the 1984 movie was pretty spot on, imho. If they could go with something like that I'd be happy. We'll just see what happens.

I love Alia. She's such a tragic character. I mean, all of the Atreides are tragic and doomed regardless, but I felt so horrible for her. She never asked to be like that, and she unfortunately succumbs to possession, and seeing her slowly descending down to that fate is horrible and yet fascinating, along with seeing how Leto II and Ghanima were able to control what Alia couldn't.

I just really love this book series, so much. They're intriguingly weird and complex, which is what I like and what I'm drawn to.
