Date: 2023-04-29 09:41 pm (UTC)Mine too! Don't get me wrong, I love Joel in the game, but I loved that they added this little aspect to his character. That he's not just hardened by what happened to his daughter, but that he's so traumatized and he does suffer from PTSD and has panic attacks and anxiety, and all of that is coming up to the surface because he's gotten close to Ellie and see how that affects him, how scared he is. That's a lovely addition that adds so much more to us understanding his character a bit more, and understanding the decision he makes in the end.
I'm also very glad that they didn't end up going with the movie format because I'd probably never end up watching it, just because I so rarely watch movies in general.
I do love and watch movies, so I would have checked it out if it had happened, but I would've been nervous about how it would've been handled. I know movies these days tend to run longer than necessary, but I don't think a movie would have been able to adapt the story properly, particularly with the narrative that is so much tied with the emotional journey you go through with Joel and Ellie, which takes its time. A weekly episode release for The Last Of Us was the way to go about it.
