++ I'm not subscribed to it, but I'm amused by everyone on Tumblr collectively losing their minds with the Dracula Daily email subscriptions. I had no idea it even existed until one day it was everywhere on my dash, everyone was talking about it, all at once. The last time I saw this kind of general fandom community was grabbed my the throat and collectively being fannish about something was with Welcome to Night Vale. Either way, I'm just glad that people are enjoying themselves.

++ Ncuti Gatwa has been announced as the Fourteenth Doctor. I'm not familiar with him or his work, but it seems that everyone is pleased by this casting choice. I'll miss Jodie as the Doctor, but she had a good, fantastic run.

++ Critical Role teamed up with Stephen Colbert for the second time to play some D&D for Red-Nose Day, and it just makes me so happy seeing other people I enjoy watching coming together. While only about an hour (which, yes, is quite short in comparison to the 3+ hours that CR often does per episode) it's somewhat a continuation of the first game that Matt ran with Stephen about two years ago, this time with some of the other cast involved, and it's worth watching simply to see Stephen bring in two swords from Lord of the Rings, everyone's reactions to it, and to see Sam Riegel flirt with Stephen in-character (or not? who knows) which someone compiled some of the scenes here. But really, it makes me smile. During the early days of CR Matt and the others often would share their wishes for what they could do with the show, often what guests they wanted to appear, and Stephen Colbert was one of them, and seeing their wishes come true as the years have gone on has been amazing to witness.

*high fives* Finally someone else is not reading Dracula Daily. I've read the book in the past and don't intend to reread it, but I reblogged a meme this morning, because it was just so priceless.

I haven't read the book (it's on my long list of things to read, though) but I vaguely know what happens in it, so seeing people reacting to it via the emails is such an interesting experience even if I'm just watching from the sidelines.

I have no idea what Dracula Daily is but I love people being happy about fandom!

I don't know the actor at all as I haven't watched Sex Education yet but those who have seen his work seem to love him so I'm happy for the change :)

It's so great to see people who are genuinely decent get success.

It's essentially a kind of newsletter book club, if you will. You can read more about it here, but it's just so fascinating how people literally latched onto it so quickly. This kind of collective fandom excitement doesn't come along very often, so it's nice to see.

Yeah, I was so confused initially because I saw so many posts that had little explanation or context, which I'm sure is what happens when someone starts blogging about something new that they discovered but with this it was just everywhere at the same time all at once. Like everyone spontaneously discovered it.

It's such a bewildering yet amazing experience witnessing people suddenly come together like this. I think the best part though is when the person who is behind the newsletter was informed in the sudden massive spark of interest and they were pleasantly surprised by it.

He's such a fanboy and I love it so much. Any opportunity he has to talk about LOTR/Tolkien he will take it, and I love it whenever he's around others (such as the CR crew here, for example) who share in his geeking out. :)

People are so into the "Dracula Daily" thing. There's a few folks in one of my Discords into it. I listened to the audiobook in college and didn't care for it much, so it'll be interesting to see if people still like it when it gets to certain parts. But it's definitely an interesting experiment.
