++ Euphoria came out with a teaser trailer for its second season, which will premiere January 9th. Finally, finally, getting the new season after it being delayed since the pandemic happened. I know that they filmed special episodes that were shown last year (and the beginning of this year), which I appreciated the efforts for what they were able to do, but I'm even more excited to have the continuation of the story that was being told.

++ Meatbun Doesn't Eat Meat, the author of 2ha (a.k.a. The Husky And His White Cat Shizun), has revealed that an official English translation of her book is in the works. At first I kind of wanted to wait until the negotiations have been completed and we got an official confirmation, but I have to admit that I'm excited about this happening. I've been curious about 2ha for some time now, and who knows when the live-action adaptation will eventually come out of being in limbo, so I'm looking forward to getting to have an official English translated copy in my hands.

++ In some more serious news, I just recently learned that Eliza Dushku testified to a congressional committee in regards to being silenced from speaking out against sexual harassment in the workplace, and how she was fired for calling out this harassment. Her entire testimony is available to watch, which I highly recommend because she goes into further detail of what happened, and it's definitely worse than what was initially revealed at the time. Thankfully, the committee voted in favor of abolishing the forced arbitration clause which she, and many others, were testifying against, and it's onto the next step forward into hopefully making that happen, which is good, it's progress at least. Regardless though, what happened to her is horrifying and disgusting. I also learned that Eliza stopped acting entirely after this incident, which is understandable but it's just so sad and unfair that she suffered through something so traumatic that when she tried to fight against it in the most professional way possible she was fired and treated like she was in the wrong, while her harasser is still employed with no repercussions whatsoever to his behavior.

I didn't know that about Eliza Dushku, thanks for keeping us informed!

I remember [livejournal.com profile] icecoldrain mentioning 2ha and I'm curious about it as well.

I've been reading the unofficial translation of 2ha and it is truly nuts lmao. I'm excited that it's getting an official English translation and will def be preordering each book as they become available for preorder!

OMG I heard the same thing about Eliza Dushku. I feel so bad for her and it's truly crap the way that victims and survivors are treated.

...it's just so sad and unfair that she suffered through something so traumatic - I know, right?

I've been seeing quite a bit of it with the fandom circles I'm, and I know that there's been anticipation for the live-action adaptation which has already been filmed and waiting to come out (whenever that'll be at this point), and I've only read a brief synopsis of what the story is about and it sounds confusing. But that's to be expect with danmei, I've found, lol. Regardless, I've seen a lot of fanart with the main pairing and I'm intrigued by just that alone.

The fact that it's so commonplace, not just within the entertainment industry but as a whole, is so devastating. :/

I've read brief summaries of what it's about and they're all kind of vague and confusing, but it's expected with these kinds of stories, lol. Honestly though, with the circles I run in when it comes to danmei 2ha is one that I see a lot of fanart for and it has intrigued me as to what the story is. Based on the small details I've picked up on from others who have read it, it's wild, a mature story that is a beast to get through (apparently it's very long, it makes one wonder how many physical volumes the English translation will have), so I'm curious.

Ugh, I remember when the stuff with Eliza on Bull went down. It's all just so terrible, but I'm glad she was able to speak out about it.

I just wished that he could get punished for what he'd done, somehow, because he got off of everything unscathed while she is still paying the ultimate price for simply calling out his inappropriate behavior.

It's just so horrific the way he behaves, really. The way he was with Jessica Alba, and recently with Eliza, and god knows any other actress who's worked with him who has suffered through his bullshit. The fact that he is still employed despite these things (and there's video evidence of his harassment of Eliza) is unjust. I know that this is unfortunately very common, not just within the entertainment industry but the workplace in general, but still. :/

Eliza's video was so sad. I didn't realize Bull was still on the air. WTF CBS. How do you keep paying someone who is continually harassing women?

I get that other people work on the show but A) this is the fault of the network for allowing that kind of harassment to happen on set. B.) This is the main actor's fault for being a giant creep. C.) It sounds like the crew was also getting in on the harassing and it's not like Eliza's story has a moment where anyone else on that set stands up and tells people that what they're saying is not okay so lesson to all - shut it down.

Honestly it makes me full of rage to know these things are common in so many jobs. I'm thankful that at my work if someone said something like that to me I think they'd at least be disciplined but then again we did have a more senior guy say something in passing recently and while he had to apologize I got the sense (as the victim read me the apology) that he didn't get what he'd actually done wrong. WTF is wrong with men?!

That was the worst thing about this case, the fact that the video evidence was there and still nothing happened to anyone except Eliza, the victim.
