++ Alright so, while I've been obsessed with The Untamed I haven't really delved into the other adaptations (and have only read a few of the translated chapters of the novel online), however the trailer for the third season of Mo Dao Zu Shi was released and, although I've been aware of the two different animated series for the novel, the donghua is apparently now going into the Yi City Arc for the third season and I know I'm going to get sucked in because. Well, that arc emotionally destroyed me when watching The Untamed, it completely blindsided me, I didn't see it coming at all and I've been consuming fan content surrounding that ever since (like, I love a lot of things about overall story but that arc in particular just yanked at my heart and never let go). Am I ready for my heart to be ripped out and stomped on all over again? Absolutely.

++ Now that The Great Gatsby has entered public domain there is now a television series in the works for it. I am looking forward to the different variations of the story in other mediums, since I've seen a lot of discussions about the endless possibilities of how the story could have gone or the different takes of the characters, etc.

++ The Expanse is nearing the end of its fifth season, and I have to say I'm incredibly grateful that they've decided to release episodes weekly because this season has been emotionally taxing. I'll have more to talk about once the season finishes, but man, there are some episodes that are hard to watch. In a good way though! Like amazing emotional storytelling and acting, but it's also overwhelming when it comes to certain characters and what they're going through in their arcs. And believe me, I have a lot of thoughts and feelings that I'll express in my review of the season. The only thing I will say is that I'm just blown away by some of the actors, and I can see why the fifth book, Nemesis Games, is some of the fans' favorite in the series.

I am nervous about how they'll end it, what they'll do to set up the next season (last season). Arrgh!

Will TGG be a modernization? I always thought that would be interesting.

Based on the information given, it'll still be set in the 20s, however they say it'll be a "re-imagining" of the story through a modern lens while keeping with the 20s glam and aesthetics. That really doesn't give much, but we'll see what happens with it.

I wasn't a big fan of the Baz Luhrmann movie, so I'm curious to see what another, newer version would look like.

One episode per weekly definitely works well for The Expanse. They really did a great job adapting this book.

I liked the movie well enough, but I am curious to see other takes of the story, deviations and deconstructions of it, etc.

I'm really glad they went back to releasing episodes weekly, like I understand why they initially did it for S4 but I think weekly releases are better for us to digest what's happening, especially this season because, holy shit.

This new season of The Expanse is giving me all the feelings. I can't believe we have only one episode left, but... woah, what a season! I wholeheartedly agree with the weekly release of the episodes. We marathoned the previous seasons and enjoyed it SO much, but this? This is incredible. And it allows me to go to school the next day and talk to one of my coworkers, who's also a big fan! (That was such a discovery, we found out we were geeks - I recognized her Uncharted tattoo- and she was like: YOU SHOULD WATCH THIS AMAZING TV SHOW! And... it was The Expanse!! Ah, the satisfaction) ANYWAY. The fact that we're all watching at the same time, allowing us to have conversations again with other people... binge watching shows has taken it away from us.

Back to the show, though. I love that they've given Drummer more importance in the show, by the way! I loved her character from the moment I met her! Her story with Naomi <3 <3 <3 I was shipping from the beginning :D so this storyline is making me super happy, what can I say? (I mean, happy in a fangirl way, not happy about what's going on).

I want to read the books but I don't know whether I should wait until the show's over or do it in one of the hiatus... Hmmm.

Oh, I definitely agree with that. Not everything needs to be released at once in order to be binged, some things are better to be watched and digested on a weekly basis. Even if you try to sync up with others to binge-watch at the same time that is taking away a lot of a person's leisure time just to see whether or not you've seen the same thing at the same time so you can talk about it without spoiling. It also ruins any momentum a show has when it drops an entire season, too, which is one of the reasons why the creators of The Expanse wanted to go back to weekly releases because S4 didn't get as much traction as previous seasons did.

And I'm glad they did, because hoo boy, this season is very intense. So much emotional character arcs happening, especially with Naomi, she's been killing it this season. And I love the development they've given Drummer this season too, especially with her and her polyamorous relationship (the Polyam Belter Fam!) and it's just been a wild ride so far with everything that's been happening. I'll have more to talk about once the season is finished.

I'm going to start reading the books soon, myself.

Spoilers for S05E10

I really loved Season 5. I initially didn't know what to think of having different storylines for the main characters, but it worked really well.

With Alex's actor turning out to be a sexual harasser, I was expecting Alex to die in today's episode, so I was a bit afraid about him being alone in a ship with Bobbie. Thankfully, nothing happened to her. Also, I'm happy that he's gonna be replaced by Peaches, because she really grew on me.

Yeah, I kind of predicted that they were going to kill him off, since there was no other way I could think of with explaining why he wouldn't be in the next season and all signs were pointing to it anyway. Of course my speculation on how he would die vastly differed from how the show actually did it, but it makes sense the way they did it. It is kind of hilarious that he basically died off-screen.

Alex wasn't my favorite character, but I did like him well enough in the earlier seasons that it's unfortunate that the actor portraying him ended up being a creepy asshole (and affected my watching his scenes in the show, so his death didn't really upset me). The character deserved better than having someone like that.

And I'm right there with you that I'm glad Clarissa is there now. Of course, I don't know whether she'll replace Alex or if Bull might take that place, since it was hinted as such him being a pilot and all. Regardless, I love Clarissa and I cannot wait to see more of her next season.

He was a decent character. It's too bad that the writers will have to make do with his death. It's a pity recasting is not a more popular solution to situations like this. After all, we are all aware that we are watching a TV show, even if we get used to a certain actor representing a certain character.

I wouldn't have minded a recasting, but it is understandable given that it is so late in the game and S6 will most likely be the last season so it would be weird to recast only for one more season. Either way, I'm glad that they did it the way they did.
