++ I recently discovered a post that features audio pronounciations for the names in The Untamed, which has been incredibly helpful because while watching the show everything is spoken quite fast that I cannot keep up with understanding how to properly pronounce things. And Chinese is a difficult language to learn, so having a guide, even a simple one to know how to properly say their names, is very useful and I'm grateful for the OP for doing that.

++ I started a new show recently, a kdrama called Crash Landing On You. It was a random pick based off of a recommendation and decided to check it out, and from the very first episode I was sold. I haven't watched much of it yet, I'm spacing out the episodes and pacing myself, mostly because I'm still stuck from the emotional hangover that is The Untamed, but so far it's absolutely delightful. It is adorable, lighthearted and so tropey in the best possible way.

++ It's been announced that Cas Anvar has been let go from The Expanse, which is good news considering what was revealed about him earlier this year, however it's also been announced that the show was been renewed for a sixth which will be its final season. I kind of suspect the latter may possibly be connected to the former, but that's just my own speculation due to how deeply involved he was with the fan campaign to save the show in the first place, including his account of talking with Jeff Bezos directly during a conference. I sincerely hope that's not the case, though, and it's more of a creative decision since the books do have a massive time-jump. Also it could possibly be COVID related since the pandemic has affected a lot of filming of shows and films at this time as well, so that could be another factor to consider.

I'm conflicted on this because on one hand I really wanted the show to on long enough to adapt the entire book series, since it would've been really cool to see an adaptation actually complete that task and have it be done right. And while I haven't started the books yet I know it goes to some interesting and fascinating places that would be amazing to see on television. On the other hand, the fact that the show was saved from cancellation to begin with is a damn miracle in itself. Having six seasons is actually quite an accomplishment, and if they're able to make adjustments to wrap things up proper to give us a damn good finale, then I'm happy. Because while I wanted there to be more seasons, that's all I want: a proper conclusion to a damn good story, and I trust the people running the show to deliver us something epic.

I had not seen that Anvar had been let go but good. There were far too many statements about his misconduct and sexual assault that even if only half of them were true, it was too many. Also, I felt that since his castmates did not come out and say "oh he would never" that was a red flag. Everyone just acknowledged the accusations and said they were listening to the accusers and that made me feel like perhaps it was something that sadly knew in their heart of hearts. Which is too bad, the one thing that sullies this amazing show.

I know. Usually whenever you hear things like this there's always at least one person among the cast that would take the side of the accused or do the typical "there's two sides to every story" kind of thing, but nobody did in this case. It really spoke volumes. I'm just glad that they acted quickly and took the allegations seriously, and it paid off in the end with him being fired.

Damn. I dunno what they could do with only one more season..... I have read all but the last book (so fucking good), so i'm not sure what the finale of the story actually is....

I hope they can do something in conjunction with the authors to make it as close as possible to the actual finale of the series.

It's really too bad - I love Alex - but....yeah.

I haven't started reading the books yet, but some book fans have said they're okay with the show ending after the sixth season because they say the sixth book more or less does give a good place to end things before the time-skip. Ideally, we can have six seasons and a possible miniseries combining the events of the last three books? That would be fantastic, imho.

Either way, I do have faith that they'll manage to make it as epic and satisfactory as possible, both for book fans and for people who have just been enjoying the show alike.

I do love Alex as a character, but the actor is trash and I'm glad that they fired him.

Thinking about the last two books (three when the true last one comes out), I think they could definitely do a wrap-up mini-series with older characters. That would be *awesome*.

You'll enjoy the books, i'm sure.
There are some short novellas that I haven't read, because they're only available as like kindle books or whatever, so.....eh.

With the exception of Cas Anvar, the cast has been an utter delight. You can tell that this show means a lot to them. Six seasons of being on a show you love, that's just amazing.

It's really horrible. I feel so sorry for all the victims, but at least there is some justice that he's been fired from the show.

Yeah, seems like they acted fairly quickly? I didn't read exactly what he did because I just know I'd think about it too much while I'm watching... It's such a bummer that the show is going to be tainted by this, but I'm glad they are going to make one more season and hopefully have something good come from this.

I really hope that Cas Anvar is not the reason it ends and I kinda can't see it being the reason? If it is COVID-related, there's a chance they might pick it up again (even if it's just for a mini-series) to include some more from book 7-9.

That's what I'm thinking, as well. I know that some book fans are okay with the sixth season being the last because the book does feel like a good place to end things before they do the huge time-skip. And if S5 and S6 do well, they can probably decide to do a miniseries or movie to combine the events of the last three books. It truly would be kinda like the "six seasons and a movie" treatment that The Expanse deserves, imho.

K-dramas! I've watched a lot of them years ago but then I stopped. There was not a real reason behind it, it was just falling out of the fandom. ^^
But I still would like to watch some of them. Like with so many other shows. Or movies. Or series. ._.''

I was the same, as well. I think the last kdrama that I watched was My Girlfriend Is A Gumiho, so yeah, it's been a while since I've seen any kdramas. But like you, there was no real reason for stopping when I did. I think I just got caught up in other things so those fell to the wayside.

And now with the pandemic, there's been a renewed interest with trying to see what other people have been watching, this includes kdramas and cdramas.

Yeah, that was my hope once it was saved by Amazon, especially knowing that Jeff Bezos is a fan of the show, that it would at least have a better chance at being a completed adaptation of a book series. But considering everything happening within the industry right now I'm not surprised that they're deciding to end things after book six, since apparently that seems to be a great place to stop before the huge time skip that happens.

Ideally, I would love for them to do a movie/miniseries combining the last three books in the near future, should S5 and S6 do incredibly well and fans demand of it.
