++ Since it's become my newest obsession, I've been deep-diving into so much fan content for The Untamed, especially fanfiction. I've always been quite selective when it comes to fanfiction in general, since I don't read fic for all the fandoms I'm in, and whenever I do it's usually mostly for things like my preferred ship or OTP, with some gen thrown in. However, The Untamed kind of unleashed something within me that I haven't seen in quite a long time whenever I've been this involved in a new fandom. I've been reading certain types of fanfic that I don't normally gravitate towards, and crying a whole lot. Now, I've cried while reading fanfics, but I've never cried this much in a short period of time reading them before. Granted, I am seeking out the most angsty stories to read considering some of my favorite pairings are sort of built on that, but still. I mean, I do read the fluff and even gen ones too because obviously, though there is something so cathartic about reading something filled with angst, with or without the hurt/comfort element, that is cathartic and I'm realizing it's kind of what I've been needing for a while now.
++ The Mandalorian has started its second season, and I am incredibly excited for what this season may bring. When you consider that there's been quite a list of guests to appear in this new season, I had completely forgotten that Timothy Olyphant was among them and seeing his character I was like, "Oh, hello???" because, yeah, that was a look. I'm still a bit apprehensive about how much bigger the season is going to get plot-wise, but the season premiere was really good and I'm just happy the show is back.
++ The Baby-sitters Club was renewed on Netflix, which makes me happy. It's such a good, lighthearted show. I do wonder how far they want to take things, because the cast is very young but, as well all know, kid actors grow up quickly.
++ The month of October came and went pretty quickly, which let's be honest, is on par with this entire year. Halloween was pretty uneventful, just in general. There were no trick-or-treaters, hell, even houses weren't even decorated as they usually were. That was mostly where I am, though, I'm sure other places vary, but it's just rather bizarre. Understandable, given the pandemic, but still bizarre nonetheless. I really do hope that this time next year things will be better, getting back to normal, or as normal as we can be.

Date: 2020-11-05 10:14 am (UTC)Hey, nothing wrong with being curious, I think we all are. I've wondered a lot about the entertainment industry. I don't know a whole lot about it so there's not much for me to speculate on, but I do have questions. It will be interesting to see where we go from here!
I think I saw you mention it in at least one other post.

Date: 2020-11-05 06:59 pm (UTC)(Interestingly enough, there have been some movies filmed during the pandemic that have been pandemic-based, particularly horror. So it makes me intrigued by the kinds of metaphors that will give in the coming years of what this whole event was like.)

Yeah, I gushed about it (https://rogueslayer452.livejournal.com/801885.html) earlier and then I made a kind of primer (https://rogueslayer452.livejournal.com/803121.html) in my previous post. :)

Date: 2020-11-06 04:56 pm (UTC)I've thought a LOT about this, honestly. I guess shows do technically live in an AU anyway - 9/11 definitely never happened in the FRIENDS universe, for instance. They're New Yorkers, there's no way they wouldn't have had some response to it. But it's still a little jarring, I think especially because we do tend to hold shows to more realistic standards these days. And while some shows (like FRIENDS) are divorced enough from our reality that you can just say they live in an AU, other shows are less divorced. Again, especially these days.
It's also why I don't like time jumps, like on Parks and Rec.. Even before all this, I remember thinking while watching, "how do the showrunners know there won't be some life altering event that completely debunks the entire time jump?" Of course, Parks and Rec in general is sadder these days because it is so very much Obama era. So very, very much.
