++ There's been a lot of announcements of upcoming DC Comic projects, varying of different mediums. Among this is the first look at The Suicide Squad, which is considered both a sequel and soft reboot of the failure of the first movie, with having some recurring characters along with newer ones. I'll be honest, though, the cast is still far too big which was one of the many complaints of the first attempt. We get that the team is a huge ensemble but without having already established these characters prior most of them will get very little screentime. It's why I truly think that this shouldn't really be a movie, but instead a television series that will allow these characters to grow and develop and to let us see the group come together, instead of just shoving them into a singular movie. Either way, I don't really have much expectations for the movie itself. On that note, I do want to say that Harley Quinn's character design is infinitely better this go around.

Secondly is the teaser for The Batman starring Robert Pattinson and Zoe Kravitz. Now, I'm not really huge on this franchise or DC in general, however I will say seeing people whinge and froth at the mouth about Robert being cast in the role is making me lowkey root for it, simply because the whole "judging an actor for a previous role they did years ago" is kind of ridiculous. Furthermore, Robert Pattinson has proven himself to be a fantastic actor when given the right roles (see: The Lighthouse, for example). Furthermore, the film isn't done, well, filming since the pandemic happened so we don't know what this movie is eventually going to turn into in the end. So, yeah, I don't really have much to say other than it's going to be hilarious seeing more angry fanboys complain that Bruce Wayne/Batman is wearing emo guyliner.

++ For Critical Role fans, many are excited about seeing the animated series come to life. They have a particular behind-the-scenes series which takes everyone on the journey of this process of how the animated show is coming to life. The most recent episode, The Legend of the World of The Legend of Vox Machina, gives us details about the animation process, particularly with recreating the world that Matt has created. We've seen various fanart depict these particular places, but there is something so surreal of seeing the process of an official team putting it all together for an animated series. It's so cool. Now, obviously, with the pandemic that's happened I'm sure things were placed on pause for a bit, but I'm sure that things are still being worked on, and however long it takes I'm sure that the end result is going to be fantastic.

Furthermore! There are official Critical Role Funko Pops available for pre-order (sold out at their official store, but available elsewhere at retail stores)! I'm getting them all, of course. But I especially want the Trinket one, which is a specialty series exclusive, because he looks so adorable.

Wow. Rebooting SS already? Sheesh.

It wasn't a great movie, it's true, though I did enjoy Harley Quinn (and I liked her solo movie, too). But...c'mon.

DC just keeps doing the same thing over, and over, and over.

The new Suicide Squad film isn't a reboot and no roles were recast - it's just a different mission with a (mostly) different set of anti-heroes, which is very common for the comics. Characters were constantly popping in and out.

Ahh, okay. That makes more sense, then.

Ah, I was under the impression that Idris Elba had replaced Will Smith as Deadshot, but I definitely missed the announcement that he's playing an entirely different character. So yeah, my bad on that. However, it is interesting that there's been a lot of talk about this is more of a "soft" reboot and sequel, but as you said, comic books often switch out characters all the time.

Yeah, I think there was some confusion because Will Smith wasn't able to be in this film due to a scheduling conflict, so there was talk that Idris was taking over the role. But Will and James Gunn have been pretty clear that Deadshot will be in a third film (assuming there is one).

Harley, Rick Flagg, Boomerang, and Amanda Waller are the only characters (that we know of) who are in the new one, so there is some thru-line.

I also think the idea of a soft reboot has more to do with the critical beating the last film took, and the fact that THIS film will be a hard-R (like Birds of Prey), which is what the last film should have been rated. :D So it's more tonal than plot, if that makes sense.

I didn't watch the new Batman Trailer yet but I only heard good things about it. I am fine with Robert Pattinson. Like you said he is a fantastic actor. So yay for him.

I know a lot of people have judged Robert Pattinson for being in Twilight and probably only see him as Edward, however he's been in multiple other projects since those days and he's proven himself to be very talented when given the right material. I think he'll do the best he can with this role.

Some of the trailers I've seen lately (The Batman & Helstrom, iirc) are way too dark, in terms of lighting. You can't see a thing.

When it comes to DC, most of their stuff is way too dark for a long time now, and only a few things which don't follow that particular aesthetic. But in truth, there are a lot of things in media in general that unfortunately fall under the "it's too dark we can't see" category, and it's kind of annoying. Someone needs to tell these people that you can have a dark atmosphere to set the mood that is lit properly.

I think the large cast along with the "Don't get too attached" tweet from James Gunn means that several of them will be killed off relatively early on rather than being meant to be developed. The fun is in guessing which ones.

Yeah, I think the less said about Twilight the better, but I would never judge the actors in the movie version by that. They didn't write it, for crying out loud.

I got the Vox Machina Origins Free Comic Book Summer issue recently and I'm really intrigued to read it. It's so cool of everyone involved to create this setting.

Kinda reminds me of how they marketed X-Force in Deadpool 2 only for them to be in it mostly for, like, a few minutes.

I think many people need to unlearn that kind of mentality of judging actors based on the projects they were in. I've done this before in the past myself, but have since learned to not do that because it's not an actor's fault if the project they're in isn't that great or have a bad reputation, but that doesn't mean that they should be shamed or blamed because of it.

I remember the cast being so excited about getting their own comic book, and now they're getting their own animated series. It's so great seeing how much they've achieved, these creative projects and accomplishments of expanding the world in different mediums that they've been playing in for years and sharing it with others.

I'd love for a Suicide Squad TV show, omg. (But if I had to choose, right now I'd choose a renewal of the Harley Quinn series, though, I need a season 3!)

And about Critical Role... I watched the first 3 episodes of the Narrative Telephone thing they did! Omg, I was laughing and crying so much! I even got the gf to watch with me and I loved how much she was laughing too. They are amazing people, I just... I'm so sad that I didn't watching when I found out about the show through you! Because then I'd be more up to dateeee! T_T But better late than never. I feel terrible about Ashley, the struggle is real! I love how flustered she gets, lol. Then you have Sam and Laura who just make up things, ahhh I love it!!!

Thank you so much for the recommendation <3

Btw, knowing that eventually I'll get into the 1st Campaign I kind of want the Funkos, but I feel like a "poser" pre ordering them without having watched more than two episodes. I just hope they won't be discontinued by the time it happens.

I'm just so glad that they were able to keep up the creativity while during quarantine, giving not only us but themselves entertained in the process. I always looked forward to seeing what they all did and how it all fell apart by the end, and them enjoying themselves. And I agree, I feel bad for Ashley, but at the same time I'm right there with her. I'm someone who needs more time with something to memorize it, and playing a game like Telephone would be an ultimate nightmare especially when going all hard mode like some of their stories gets.

And you're so welcome. :D

And don't feel bad about wanting to get the CR pops! As someone who collects Funko Pops, believe me, it's best to get it as soon as they're available because it'll be harder to find later on down the line. You're definitely not a "poser" if you get them, because regardless where you are in watching them, if you're enjoying CR then you're already a fan. So go for it!

I think The Batman looks really good so far from what we've seen in the trailer. I haven't actually seen many of Robert Pattinson's other roles outside of Twilight but from what I have seen he's a much better actor than people give him credit for.

Between him as Edward in Twilight and Cedric Diggory in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, most of the general public probably have no idea of the other things he's been in since he's mostly been doing indie projects for a while. But yeah, I do think he's been unfairly judged based on those earlier projects which, for any actor, sucks especially when you're trying to branch out.
