Laura Roslin <3

LAURA ROSLIN

Why I like them: She entered a position where she was uncertain of her capabilities, but quickly grew to really stand on her own and take the reigns of being the President of the Twelve Colonies. She had the make a lot of tough calls and decisions underneath severe pressure that she probably wouldn't have made under different circumstances. She understood the political game and, even if she didn't like certain things that she had to do, she needed to do them because she was thinking about the survival of humanity.
Why I don’t: I didn't always agree with the decisions she made, and she did take things a bit too far, almost in Helena Cain territory at times.
Favorite season/movie/book: Season two and parts of season three, for sure.
Favorite line: "No, it's not smart. It's politics."
Favorite outfit: The red dress she wore during the flashbacks in "Unfinished Business".
OTP: I don't have one.
Brotp: Her and Lee had some interesting moments.
Head Canon: I don't think I have any at the moment.
Unpopular opinion: The reason why I didn't say Adama/Roslin is my OTP is because, while I liked them, I didn't ship them nearly as much as other people did. I wasn't that invested in their relationship. I liked their dynamic, absolutely, not so much romantically.
A wish: I wished she hadn't died, though I'm glad that they waited until the series finale for that to happen and how she managed to finally see the new home for humanity before passing on.
An oh-god-please-don't-ever-happen: I mean, she died so, what I didn't want happen actually happened.

Ohh, thanks, that's a lovely perspective on Laura! I agree that she had a very interesting relationship with Lee, especially at the beginning.

Although I was always Roslin/Adama trash :P

Cordelia Chase or/and Angel

CORDELIA CHASE

Why I like them: I really enjoyed her character journey, and how she went from a character that could've been deemed very one-dimensional and vapid to being someone who actually is quite complex with different facets to her personality and interests. She grows as a character, more so on Angel as we see more development of her, but the first three seasons of BTVS as well. And I liked how she took the revelation that evil beings are in Sunnydale in stride and that while she wasn't going to go out of her way to fight it, she did offer help to Buffy and Co. when she wanted to. And I really liked seeing that. I also liked that she was that character that said what was on her mind a lot of the time, like she was the mouthpiece for everything that most were thinking and she had no problems with saying it out loud.
Why I don’t: She could be quite mean sometimes, though. She could be quite tactless even when she was saying something meaningful. It could be funny at times, but often it got lost in translation.
Favorite season/movie/book: Seasons two and three of BTVS, and from what I can recall season two of Angel.
Favorite line: "What? I can't have layers?"
Favorite outfit: I can't pick, there's a lot to choose from.
OTP: Cordy/Happiness
Brotp: Her friendship with Dennis, her apartment ghost, was endearing. Like, yeah she had friendships with Fred, Wesley, Harmony, her friendship with Angel of course, but for some reason I really loved her dynamic with Dennis really fascinating. We didn't see it that often of course, but whenever we did see bits and pieces of how Dennis would help her after really rough visions or try to prevent her from entering the apartment whenever someone bad had broken in, yeah. That was sweet.
Head Canon: She is still alive and living her best life.
Unpopular opinion: I'm not someone who shipped Angel/Cordy during Angel. I can understand why some would based on the framing, but I don't know. I really enjoyed their growing friendship more than anything else. Perhaps it's because Buffy/Angel is one of my OTPs, but that's not to suggest that I don't mind multi-shipping. I just didn't feel like with Angel and Cordelia, to be honest.
A wish: That we got to see Cordelia reconnecting with Buffy and the rest of them in Sunnydale. I really wanted them to see how much she'd changed since their last time seeing her, and I can't help but think that they probably just think that she's still the same vapid Cordy when she grew so much and actually helped people and was very selfless. Part of me wishes that we'd gotten at least a crossover with that. Also, I think it would've been good to see Cordelia and Buffy bond over their responsibilities, considering Buffy's calling and Cordelia having visions. It would be a new dynamic, but it would also make sense since there were some parallels between them even in the earlier seasons of BTVS, this just adds more to it.
An oh-god-please-don't-ever-happen: I mean, it did unfortunately happen. I wanted them to bring Cordelia back in the final season, to get justice for her character and for Charisma, and then of course her final episode was also the episode where Cordelia fucking died. Like, all I wanted was for Cordelia to come back and be in the fight, to come back stronger and better, and yet. Ugh.
5 words to best describe them: Hilarious, intelligent, fashionable, compassionate, and loyal.

ANGEL

Why I like them: His journey of redemption, of making things right for the things he's done by saving and helping people. And it's not just for the redemption aspect either, which he is remorseful for the things he's done and wants to atone, but also because he genuinely does care about others and wants to do right. While he fits the whole "tall, dark and brooding" type it actually works for his character, and on his own show we see more development of him as he opens up more and we get to see this kind of dorky side of his character that was only partially seen on BTVS.
Why I don’t: I can't really think of anything, to be perfectly honest.
Favorite season/movie/book: Season two of BTVS, mainly because of the Angelus storyline because that truly changed the entire game of that show, and also it was so brilliantly done too. And also the third season of BTVS because, well, it was very good with him kind of finally being accepted into the group, also with the angst. As for Angel, I don't really know. I think the first few seasons were very good.
Favorite line: "If there's no great glorious end to all this, if nothing we do matters...then all that matters is what we do. 'Cause that's all there is. What we do. Now. Today." (I know it's probably been used so much for a favorite quote, but I love it and his whole monologue during this scene in general truly encompasses Angel's character precisely.
Favorite outfit: The black coat he wears. ;)
OTP: Buffy/Angel
Brotp: Angel and Faith had such a good friendship, which I truly loved seeing build. Their bond of reaching redemption, trying to atone for their past mistakes, him saving her and her saving him in return. Loved it.
Head Canon: Going along with that, Angel visited Faith when she was in prison as often as he could. She didn't expect him to, but he did. He wanted to make sure that she knew that he was still in her corner, and they made small talk mostly talking about things, sometimes about the cases that happened with him, the things that she went through that day, talking about anything, really. He knew how lonely it could be and that, while it was her time seek redemption in her own way, he wanted to let her know that he was still there for her, whenever she needed. It was cathartic for both of them.
Unpopular opinion: I love Angel? Is that an unpopular opinion? Also, I don't mind the age gap between him and Buffy because, well, when you have any kind of immortal character who is literally hundreds of years old then yeah there's going to be an age gap. I also didn't mind the reason why he started watching over her initially, because it was more of him finding purpose again, of helping this girl who was discovering something about herself.
A wish: That Angel appeared in more BTVS episodes after his initial departure. I know that they had crossovers here and there, but I really wanted there to be more of an epic kind of team-up of a common enemy kind of thing, a la what they do with the DCTV stuff or something like that. I just think that would've been super cool, and it would've brought in both show's ensembles to meet.
An oh-god-please-don't-ever-happen: I'm someone who didn't really like the Angel/Cordelia relationship thing, which I'm kind of glad that it didn't happen. I don't know, it's not that I would've hated it, I just didn't see it.
5 words to best describe them: Brooding, anti-social, introvert, sarcastic, caring.

FAITH LEHANE

Why I like them: She's such a complicated, complex character, and seeing her journey through both shows was fascinating to watch. She also has probably the best redemption arc I've seen on television. Interestingly I also see myself in her a little bit, not everything obviously but it's one of the reasons why I gravitated towards her from the start.
Why I don’t: She's definitely done some things that are quite questionable, things that I didn't notice at first but in hindsight certainly were very, very bad. She definitely did rape Xander (and Riley while in Buffy's body) and that's kind of brushed aside like it's nothing, and that's not good.
Favorite season/movie/book: Season three of BTVS, without a doubt. That was the introduction of her character, and the season was my first introduction to the show.
Favorite line: "The life of a Slayer's very simple, B. Want, take, have."
Favorite outfit: Oh man, that's tough. She had such a good wardrobe, all that I really wanted too. I think the one that immediately comes to mind is the one she wore in the episode of Angel, "Five By Five", the one with the deep red top. Because funnily enough I had a top that almost matched that exactly. But really, yeah, so many good outfit choices for her on both shows.
OTP: Buffy/Faith
Brotp: I really adored the friendship that was made between her and Angel, and the fact that he helped save her and she saved him in return later on, just. *chefs kiss*
Head Canon: I mentioned in an above answer that I definitely have this headcanon that Faith had Angel visit her in prison often, at least in the beginning of her imprisonment, and that's something I like imagining because they definitely had this bond between them that they're both grateful for, this understanding, this connection of one another and it was certainly cathartic for both of them to find that. Another one headcanon mirrors what you gave as your answer, is that her upbringing was certainly harsher than most tend to think, she was definitely abused growing up and was probably sexually assaulted at some point before getting called. It explains why she behaves and acts the way she does, and the outlook she has on life and her constant need of wanting affection and support and being envious when others get it when she doesn't. It's why she was really jealous of Buffy, because while she's also a Slayer, Buffy had everything that she didn't when it comes to the love and support of family and friends. It's also why I also headcanon that while she certainly had a crush on Buffy, when you mix that with her feelings of jealousy, envy, and her troubled background, it definitely got messy and complicated in her own head.
Unpopular opinion: I don't think I really have one for her, or what would even be considered an "unpopular" opinion. Aside from the fact that I love her character and felt like her arc was the best completed arc of the entire show.
A wish: That we got that Faith spin-off series, dammit. I also wanted her to return in the last season of Angel. In fact, I think replacing Faith with Spike in the last season would've been much, much better, imho.
An oh-god-please-don't-ever-happen: I can't really think of anything.
5 words to best describe them: Complicated, wounded, antisocial, independent, and lonely.

Someone once said (can't remember who) "Faith can't decide if she wants Buffy or wants to be Buffy". So yeah, I think it was very messy in her head.

Katherine Pierce TVD

From: [identity profile] rogueslayer452.livejournal.com
KATHERINE PIERCE

Why I like them: She is just this deliciously rich and complex character, so calculating and manipulative, yet you understand precisely the reasons why she is the way she is. She makes it no secret that she's about self-preservation, and that she makes sure that she gets ahead of the game. Every time she appears on the screen you're drawn to her, her presence is magnetic and she makes every scene 10x better. She's a bad bitch and I love that for her.
Why I don’t: I don't know if there are reasons why I don't love her? I mean, aside from debating which Salvatore brother to be with because, come on, neither of them were good enough for you girl. But otherwise, I can't think of anything.
Favorite season/movie/book: Season two, because of course. (I mean, I haven't really seen much of the other seasons of TVD because I didn't want to waste my time).
Favorite line: "I will always look out for myself. If you're smart, you'll do the same."
Favorite outfit: Too many to choose from.
OTP: Katherine/Happiness
Brotp: IDK
Head Canon: She is alive and well and ruling the fuck out of the world.
Unpopular opinion: Katherine didn't do anything wrong, at least no more wrong than any other character featured on the show. And the fact that she got punished for that more severely than any other character that did much worse is by far the stupidest thing. Granted, I don't think that's much of an unpopular opinion (unless I say that Damon deserved to be killed off much earlier and deserved to go the Hell more than Katherine, but I digress).
A wish: That we had gotten a Katherine Pierce spin-off. Considering we have like quite a few spin-offs from TVD (none which I have watched aside from the first season of The Originals), and how Katherine is probably quite a popular character, it would've seemed like the most logical to have at least a prequel spin-off of Katherine's adventures.
An oh-god-please-don't-ever-happen: I mean, I wanted Katherine to survive to the end and they killed her off and sent her to Hell....for no reason. So yeah, what I didn't want happen actually happened.
5 words to best describe them: Survivor, jaded, manipulative, badass, queen.

YES to all of this!!!!

And yes, I think Damon should've gone to hell way over anyone else as well, because he did so many unforgivable things and yet... was forgiven. Like WTF is that even. Kat was upfront, honest, and knew what she wanted and how to get it.

Date: 2020-05-27 02:55 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] rogueslayer452.livejournal.com
It's funny because I much preferred Damon as the unapologetic antagonist he was introduced as in the beginning. I would've been fine if they'd just kept him like that, except they made him the "uwu sad boy" who still did horrible things but ended up being forgiven for most of them because of ~love or whatever which ???? How does that track? IDK. Damon was the worst and he deserved to be punished harshly more than Katherine, who, imho, deserved the world. But that's me being biased.

In truth, Katherine did do horrible things and there's no excusing those things, at the same time though she was no worse than any other character featured on that show. The fact that she got the worst fate while others got their happily ever afters will never not piss me the fuck off. Katherine was a queen and deserved better.

DAISY JOHNSON

Why I like them: She's incredibly kind and compassionate and empathetic, she cares about others and wants to help in any way she can. Her character journey has been amazing to see unfold throughout the show, she has such strength and perseverance of everything she has gone through and endured, and she continues to push forward despite it all. Her personal growth and the continued development of her character is what I love most about her, seeing how far she's come since the beginning has been amazing.
Why I don’t: N/A
Favorite season/movie/book: It's a threeway tie between season two, season three and season four.
Favorite line: "I want Inhumans taking action with S.H.I.E.L.D. to see that being different can mean making a difference."
Favorite outfit: I really do love her Quake outfit. I also loved the post-apocalyptic outfit she wore during the first half of season four when they were in the future.
OTP: Daisy/Robbie.
Brotp: Daisy and Mack
Head Canon: Daisy keeps tabs on her father, even though his memory was wiped about who she is she still wants, and needs, to know that he's doing okay.
Unpopular opinion: I never liked Daisy and Lincoln together. I didn't hate them, I just didn't understand it because I didn't see that chemistry between them. I do understand that his death affected her so deeply and she needed a lot of time to heal from that, but I always felt like she could've done better.
A wish: Daisy to eventually become the next Director of SHIELD. I know that set that up initially before turning it down for Mack to be appointed the job, and perhaps she wasn't ready yet which I can understand. With that being said, though, I do think that Coulson wanted her to become someone important with SHIELD. Whether the Director or something else entirely, and I really want her to take on such a position of power. Maybe start up the next version of Secret Warriors Initiative and be the leader of that division.
An oh-god-please-don't-ever-happen: I despise the character of Deke and I don't want her and him to be romantically involved. It doesn't seem that way, but the show often frames things awkwardly (like how he became obsessed with her, having a crush, sending lemons to her, doing a weird sexist "fantasy" version of her in his Framework), and I'm just like, ew. No thank you.
5 words to best describe them: Empathetic, selfless, powerful, loyal, and kind.

Naomi Nagata

From: [identity profile] rogueslayer452.livejournal.com
NAOMI NAGATA

Why I like them: Despite having many demons in her past and many things that she regrets, Naomi has persevered and tried to make a better life for herself. She's a character who has had loads of past trauma but has pushed herself to find the silver lining, and yes that was mostly because of the Roci crew and her relationship with Holden which has grounded her and helped her through it all, she also did it herself by attempting to move forward. She's a Belter and has lived a hard life, but she's incredibly compassionate and loves the people she considers to be her family.
Why I don’t: Well, she's made some decisions that weren't the best, like sending the protomolecule sample they had to Fred Johnson instead of destroying it and not telling the others for quite some time. However, all the characters have done things that weren't the smartest or made decisions that I didn't agree with. Because that's the nature of this show, and it's why I love the show. So I can't just I don't like Naomi for simply being human. That would be hypocritical.
Favorite season/movie/book: Oh man, that's tough. I think season two and season there were the best season for Naomi, in my opinion. I can't really explain why other than there was a lot of stuff regarding her character development in both seasons. It makes me anticipate season five because, y'know, the Marco Inaros storyline is gonna be interesting.....
Favorite line: "Every shitty thing we do makes the next one that much easier, doesn't it?"
Favorite outfit: The outfit she had on when dancing with Drummer. It's very rare that we get to see her wearing something like that, never mind having the kind fun and joy she was experiencing during that scene.
OTP: I really like Naomi/Holden (especially since initially I wasn't that convinced), and of course I really like Naomi/Drummer.
Brotp: Naomi and Amos, absolutely.
Head Canon: I don't think I have any, aside from the fact that I have this idea that she and Drummer do constantly keep in touch with each other from time to time. I ship them, but I also love their friendship that they share too, their bond is very close and I like to believe that they still maintain this level of communication whenever they can, even if it can take hours before it reaches them if they're not of the same vicinity. Naomi doesn't have a whole lot of friendships outside of those among the Roci, so her checking up on Drummer every now and then just seems like something she would do.
Unpopular opinion: None. :)
A wish: More Naomi and Drummer scenes next season, please.
An oh-god-please-don't-ever-happen: I can't think of anything.

DIN DJARIN

Why I like them: Despite being a bounty hunter and a little rough around the edges, he has a moral code and is shown to be kind and respect others and has a soft heart. His protectiveness of the baby is proof of this, but he also helps and protects innocents from being caught in the crossfire of danger. While we only got minimal information about Din as a character as the first season was a slow-build at figuring some parts of him out, we do learn a lot about him through his actions, how he is with the child, with others, what he's willing to do or not do. It's what drew me to the character.
Why I don’t: N/A
Favorite season/movie/book: There's only been the first season so far, so that. :)
Favorite line: "I can bring you in warm, or I can bring you in cold." (I know, I know, but this is a man with very few lines that aren't sighs or grunts, lol. My second favorite would've been "I'm not...sad." in the season finale because it's adorable how he's trying to mask his emotional state from IG-11).
Favorite outfit: I mean....does it need to be said? ;)
OTP: I'm not at a hardcore shipping stage yet, though I do like the prospect of Din/Omera, and I'm also into Din/Paz thanks to the fandom.
Brotp: Din and Cara
Head Canon: The baby doesn't cry often, but when he does Din is always there to comfort him. He was awkward at first, not knowing what to do, but quickly learns that he needs to be more attentive to the child and show that everything is okay. This is usually whenever the baby has a nightmare, and Din, having suffered his own sleepless nights from nightmares himself, knows exactly how that feels. He'll either hold the child and walk through the Razor Crest to calm him down, or sit in the pilot chair cradling him until he falls back to sleep. And sometimes, even once asleep, Din will keep the child cradled in his arms because he finds that comforting for himself, as well.
Unpopular opinion: I know most fans are predicting that Din will find and reclaim the Darksaber, but part of me doesn't want him to own it and wield it unless it's to defeat Moff Gideon. While he is still trying to find a sense of purpose, I don't think he's at a point where he has any aspirations of handling such responsibility. Who knows, perhaps the direction of the show will change my mind down the line, but at this point I just think Din wants to get to point A to point B with his mission and to take a nap.
A wish: For more scenes with him bonding with the baby, and for him to show his face to the baby.
An oh-god-please-don't-ever-happen: For Din and Cara to be romantically involved in any way. Nope.
5 words to best describe them: Grumpy, caring, introvert, honorable, and protective.

Thorin Oakenshield

Date: 2020-05-27 06:41 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] rogueslayer452.livejournal.com
THORIN OAKENSHIELD

Why I like them: Thorin is a case of a tragic character, where he has nobility and honor and tries so desperately to not only reclaim their lost homeland but to not succumb to a sickness that drove his grandfather to madness. While he can be strong in his own biases and has a certain bitterness due to what he's witnessed and endured, he wants to bring honor and respectability back to his people, and he has good intentions with that. He is good with his companions who follow him on his quest, and even though he was unsure of him at first his growing fondness and trust in Bilbo Baggins brings out the best in him.
Why I don’t: He does have a certain prejudice against Elves, which is understandable given their history, although it doesn't get better once he unfortunately succumbs to the gold sickness. Along with that, well, he did go too far with threatening Bilbo, but again he wasn't in his right mind at that time. But still, it's hard to watch that scene.
Favorite season/movie/book: I love the entire trilogy, but I think Desolation of Smaug is probably the best for Thorin content, imho.
Favorite line: "We are the Dwarves of Erebor. We have come to reclaim our homeland."
Favorite outfit: I will always find what he wears in the first film, the blue outfit with the furs, incredibly and appropriately regal and amazing.
OTP: Bilbo/Thorin
Brotp: Thorin and Dwalin
Head Canon: In my AU headcanon, Thorin survived and beat the gold sickness, however he gives up the title of being King Under the Mountain and hands that responsibility over to his nephews (who also survived) and, fearing that he'll succumb to the sickness again, he decides to travel back with Bilbo to the Shire. It starts off with just a mere recovery period, some time and distance from the mountain and the gold that will hopefully be parted equally among the Laketown's folk, the Elves of Mirkwood, and other Dwarven clans, however Thorin starts to think he actually prefers being among the Shire. And yeah, of course he and Bilbo grow closer and become more intimate than previously, but I just love the notion that Thorin reconsiders his entire life by being among the calm nature of the Shire, and that he learns to appreciate the smaller, gentler things in life.
Unpopular opinion: I don't think I have one? Other than I love Thorin, since there are some out there that don't.
A wish: That he had lived, dammit.
An oh-god-please-don't-ever-happen: I mean, it happened. So. :/

Spencer Hastings.

Date: 2020-05-27 06:51 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] rogueslayer452.livejournal.com
SPENCER HASTINGS

Why I like them: She's incredibly smart, rational-minded, and resourceful. Spencer is that kind of booksmart that's almost scary, but in an impressive way. I also like that she's not entirely perfect either, that she has her own personal demons and troubles. She's also a loyal friend to the rest of the girls, even if she ended up getting a bit competitive and butting heads with some of them at times they would always make-up and be there for each other.
Why I don’t: Despite being smart, she would often make really dumb decisions, including jumping to conclusions about who could be "A" throughout the show. Then again, that's all the girls to be honest, because the writing for them got worse with always being compulsive with accusing everyone of being a suspect even without much proof (or thinking that there was any proof when there wasn't). There were so many times when I was wanted to shake sense back into Spencer.
Favorite season/movie/book: The earlier seasons for sure, though I really liked her arc in the fourth season, only because I know that Troian really fought with the writers for handling mental illness with seriousness, dignity, and tact.
Favorite line: "Well, you know the Hastings family motto: 'Why enjoy today when you could be worrying about tomorrow'."
Favorite outfit: Too many to pick from. She was probably the best dressed of the four girls, imho. The earlier seasons in particular had her wearing some of the best put-together ensembles.
OTP: Spencer/Toby, at least in the earlier seasons. I also shipped Spencer/Jason as well.
Brotp: Spencer and her friends.
Head Canon: IDK at the moment....
Unpopular opinion: I loved Spencer/Toby in the beginning, but I felt like they lost track of what to do with their relationship after a while. So I wasn't all that surprised that by the five year jump they'd broken up, because I always felt like they were heading there anyway. I hated what happened in between, of course, the messiness of relationships that followed after that didn't need to happen, but I felt like if there was any indication that "high school relationships don't always last" it was probably them. And not in a bad way, just that people grow apart and have their own paths to follow, and I would've liked to have seen Spencer and Toby reach that point in the show.
A wish: I wish that the ending never happened, it was just adding more complications to an already convoluted story, and Spencer had already gone through the wringer so many times with "revelations" about herself and her family that she didn't need that (which in the end didn't amount to anything anyway, such a waste of time).
An oh-god-please-don't-ever-happen: I didn't want Spencer and Caleb to happen, once that was introduced during the five year jump I was like, nope. They ruined a perfectly good friendship between those two for a relationship that made absolutely no sense, and was only there to create tension between them and Hanna, and that was some bullshit.
5 words to best describe them: Competitive, smart, strong-willed, wounded, and a survivor.
