++ We have the trailer for Wonder Woman: 1984, which looks quite interesting. I really enjoyed the first movie, and I hope that this sequel will be just as good.

++ Along the same lines, we got our first look at Black Widow with the teaser trailer released. I'll be honest, I'm mostly here for Florence Pugh. She's been having quite a good year, getting all of that exposure with plenty of projects being released, which she deserves because she's incredibly talented. Also, having Rachel Weisz and David Harbour is good casting, as well. Overall, it's a decent trailer. I wasn't sure that I was going to be into it because my interest in a Black Widow solo movie dwindled over the years, and I'm not exactly that huge with the MCU as many others seem to be so that was definitely a part of it for sure. But I'll admit, this was a pretty good and well put together teaser. And to be honest, even though it was far too prolonged for my liking, I think in context of the events that occurred in the recent movies it works because this isn't so much of an origin story as it is her dealing with unfinished business, which should be interesting.

++ Meanwhile, the full trailer for Mulan was released, giving us more footage which includes the introduction of Gong Li's character. I know a lot of people are still harping over the fact that there are missing elements from the animated movie, but I'll reiterate what I've said before, deviation can be a good thing, we've seen it in a few of the live-action remakes they've done and it's worked well for the direction they were taking the story. They clearly have a different vision of what tone and mood this movie is to convey, at least based on how the trailers present it, so I'm deeply curious about how it'll all come together in the final product.

The Wonder Woman trailer is great. The music fits so well. It actually got me rather excited for the movie ;)

And I agree with what you said about the Black Widow movie! I feel like it's a little bit too late, but I'm still glad we're getting one. I really wanted one after the first Avengers movie and was disappointed that it wasn't on Marvel's schedule at all.

I've always wondered why they waited so long, especially since there was a lot of interest years ago for there to be a solo Black Widow movie. It's not like they couldn't have squeezed one in even if they a line-up all scheduled and everything. It really shouldn't have taken this long.

I have no idea. I thought that Scarlett didn't want to, maybe felt too ~important (yeah, I'm not a fan of the stuff she said/did over the years, but I do like (her) Black Widow), but at it this point she could have just said no, especially knowing what happens in Endgame.

It's just a tad weird since it feels like we're only getting one now because of what happened in Endgame, it seems almost like it's emotionally manipulating the audience in a way. It would have made more sense if she had a solo movie years ago, which would've been an origin story, and then another one after Endgame which would've been this one to kind of come full circle. I don't know, it's just weird. Perhaps they didn't have confidence previously about whether the movie would've gone well. Perhaps they thought that this would've only been well-received because of Endgame, idk.

It's really confusing. Also, I'm really invested in the MCU, like a lot of people online, but there are plenty of people who watch the movies and move on. Is this movie for them or will it just confuse a more casual audience?

That's a good question. I would assume that, even if it's tied to the other movies, they'll find a way to make it concise for a casual watcher who isn't that well-versed with that universe to understand. But it's also why Wonder Woman and Captain Marvel worked because they were more introductions of the characters, whereas this, as much as it looks interesting, feels like it's the ending chapter of what could have been a series of solo movies to get to know and understand Natasha better as a character who existed outside of the Avengers and such.

Again, it's just a weird and confusing way of how they went about this.

Yeah. :/ Initially I didn't mind her, and wanted her own solo movie after The Avengers, but then, well, the more she paraded around her ignorance the less I liked her and the less I was enthused by the idea of there being a Black Widow movie. I mean, I'm glad it's happening after all the teasing and promising over the years, and it does look interesting, but otherwise yeah, idk.

I'm excited for Wonder Woman 1984 as well, it looks promising. I loved the first film, I have high hopes for this one.

Black Widow also looks good and the charcaters actors look to be chosen well.

I think Mulan is going to be EPIC!!! Seriously, like you said, "deviation can be a good thing", I really think it will be in this case.

I really hope the second movie is good, because sometimes sequels can go through a slump even if they're done by the same people. Wonder Woman was a success because it was good in comparison to the previous DCEU movies, so we'll see how it does.

I'm excited for all 3 of these! I was really ready to hate the remake of Mulan b/c the original movie means so much to me, but the trailer looks gorgeous and gritty and it might be exactly what I want. And I'm with you on Black Widow - I'm glad it doesn't look to be an origin story. I want to see Nat in her element.

The animated movie is my absolute favorite, as well, and I'll admit when they announced that they were going to do a live-action remake of it I was skeptical and apprehensive because, well, most of their live-action remakes have been a huge hit or miss and I didn't want them fucking this one up (especially racially), but once more news came from it and what the movie entailed I slowly became less worried, and seeing the trailers I'm really curious about it. It seems to be a combination of the original poem and the animated movie, but doing its own thing entirely.

I am so hyped for Wonder Woman 2. The trailer was sooo, sooo good! *_*

Oh, Gong Lee will be in Mulan? That is awesome. She is a great actress.

I absolutely love Gong Li, she's incredibly talented. She's in her fifties and still is going strong, and I like seeing that. I know some are grousing about the reveal of her character (she's playing a witch who shape-shifts), but quite frankly? IDC. She looks cool, the character looks cool, it's going to be entertaining, and I'm excited.

I don't understand why people complain about the changes to the live action movie...if you want the same story then watch the same story? Why bother with the live action movie if it is exactly the same? Meh.

Also, yes, Florence Pugh can be in every movie right now, I don't mind. She's SO GOOD! Just watched 'Midsommer'

It's such a strange conundrum that many are weird about. People will rant about things making changes because they want it to be exactly the same as the animated movie, and yet when we do get that people will complain about how it's exactly the same and no originality. There is no winning with people, and a lot of times it's just them complaining for the sake of complaining. While I don't care for these live-action remakes knowing that it's just banking off nostalgia anyway, I personally prefer versions that deviate from the original animated movie to become more of a re-imagining, which is what remakes should be, not a direct scene-by-scene replay because, obviously, not everything that happens in animation is going to translate well with live-action. So taking liberties while still telling the same story, just in a different way, is probably better.

Midsommar was so good. Florence was perfection in that movie, and I'm glad she's getting so much recognition with the projects she has coming out because her performance in that was outstanding.

I have been kind of obsessed with the trailer for Wonder Woman. I loved the first movie (and did not expect to, since DC movies tend to be meh for me), and hope the second is just as good.

Yeah, I was the same way. I don't really much care about either the DCEU or MCU that much, but DC didn't exactly have a good track record when it came to movies. But I think many were hopeful that Wonder Woman would at least do better than BvS, and lo and behold it actually delivered! I know that sequels can go either way, but I'm hoping that it's at least good and entertaining.
