++ First of all, The Expanse has already been renewed for a fifth season! I am so pleased with this news. I'm hoping this means that it's possible that the show will continue on long enough for them to conclude coinciding with the rest of the books. I'm also highly anticipating the fourth season when it premieres in December, and that it'll be fantastic, which I know it will.

++ Agents of SHIELD will be ending next season, which I suspected when Clark Gregg mentioned it some while ago about the possibility of it going to seventh and final season, it just wasn't entirely confirmed at that point. I had to admit though, I haven't been watching this current season. I kind of wait a little bit so I can binge-watch, but based on some of the things I read I'm kind of meh about it. I think the main consensus from most is that it's not a bad season, it just seems lackluster in comparison to the previous seasons, almost like an experimental season in a way. I think S5 had a more finality to it with the structure of how it was written, and that finale seemed more like a series finale with how it was done. I can't really make a judgment call since I haven't seen season six yet, but it does make me wary considering that the first five seasons were incredibly solid and unfortunately many good shows do take a dip sometime later, so we'll see.

Regardless, even though the show has had its ups and downs and decisions that I don't agree with in terms of the direction of some storylines throughout its run, it still has remained quite a solid show that kept getting better and better with each season (sans S6 that I haven't seen yet). I think it's still the most underrated Marvel show, since many people decided to bounce very early on into the first season without bothering to stick around or coming back once shit got real midway. Once it hit that mark in the middle of the first season, that changed the tone of the show forever. I just hope that the last season will be epic and satisfactory, similar to how I felt with the S5 finale.

The Expanse's early renewal was a surprise, but I guess as long as Jeff Bezos is personally invested it'll cover the entire book series. Obviously, they are also looking at numbers, but Amazon probably would not have rescued it if Bezos wasn't a fan.

I totally thought that S7 being the last season was already official. I was rather surprised when that came up again.
S6 definitely feels like "We thought we were done and now we need more material." It's definitely not bad, but it does feel disconnected from the rest of the show. A lot of the episodes seem like filler, but I guess that's just what the season as a whole is.

That's what I'm thinking, as well. The show wouldn't have had a second chance had it not been for Jeff Bezo being a fan already, so we should really consider this a massive blessing. I'm just hoping that the numbers are going to be just as good for the upcoming season.

I know some were skeptical about it since it wasn't really "official" previously, it was mentioned by a cast member months ago but I think some probably don't view that as actual confirmation.

That's what I heard about S6, as well. The seasons prior had a nice connection with each other, building and progressing of the ongoing story and character arcs, so I've been hearing that while the sixth season isn't inherently bad it kind of exists separately from the first five seasons entirely. Reading about some things, it certainly does seem like it is mostly filler. I'm just hoping that final season will actually deliver at being more intertwined with the rest of the show and do something epic for its series finale. If not, well, I can just say that S5 delivered a nice ending to the show either way.

Also there was a statement after that that the seventh season wouldn't necessarily be the last, before this latest statement.

I wouldn't call it filler, given that it explains the origins of something that's been a staple of the show for a while. Also, I understand "filler" to mean bottle episodes or townie episodes, and this season has followed a fast-paced focused arc, aided by being 13 episodes in length.

I definitely didn't see the early renewal for The Expanse coming but of course I'm happy about it. It's a very good sign that the show isn't going anywhere anytime soon (unless the streaming numbers are super bad)

One of the saving graces is the Jeff Bezos, the CEO of Amazon, is a fan of the series, which really helps a lot in their case of not only getting saved but also getting an early renewal. But I'm also hoping that the numbers are good regardless, because that will prove that people are watching and there is massive interest in the show. I've already seen more people express interest in watching the show since the news of it being saved, so hopefully it contributes to the numbers.

I was a little surprised by how far away the premiere date was, but I'm honestly willing to wait for quality storytelling.

And this early renewal makes me so, so happy. I'm hoping that it continues as long as it needs to in order to complete the adaptation of the books.

It is seriously a fantastic show, one of the best scifi series I've seen in a long, long time. It has a great ensemble cast, which is quite diverse, phenomenal world-building, and is just all-around captivating with the story that unravels. It's definitely binge-watch worthy, which I hope you get to soon in the future. :D

I was so excited to hear the news about The Expanse. And even more excited that the coming season will hit in December. I don't have prime, but I figured I'd get it for Oct-Dec for holiday orders, so the timing is perfect.
