Hereditary was so unsettling, but it's why I loved it! It was very different and interesting. From the looks of Midsommar this also seems to have that cult-esque feel to the plot, but either way I'm pretty curious about it.

And even if a new director wants to try their hand at it, why does it have to be a reboot? Just be another SAW movie.

Exactly. Have it take place in the same universe. The franchise has quite a lot of backstory that you can just expand from that into its own thing. Jigsaw that came out in 2017 was a good example of that, which it definitely worked in its own way. I don't see why that can't still happen. I do agree, though, with Peele making a name of himself now with his own creations that he wouldn't need to reboot anything, but I would be interested if he would do something in addition to the already existing franchise. That would be pretty dope.

It's quite laughable and tragic that Chris Rock is attached to this supposed "reboot" though, because he's been known to be quite misogynistic and is that type of comedian who complains about how he can no longer do "offensive" jokes now with his work due to "PC culture" and all of that. So I'm worried that he may think that he can use horror as an excuse to do violence against women (among other things) and get away with it. :/ Idk, it's just not a good mix, imho.
