++ Doctor Who official S11 trailer premiered at SDCC and it looks absolutely fantastic. I'm in love with Thirteen already. Just from the moment she starts speaking I was all in. And really, Jodi Whittaker looks absolutely amazing in this, plus her accent! It's so endearing and adorable and just, ah! I also love seeing the three new Companions she'll be having, and the production looks so good. Nine will always be my Doctor (Eleven almost took that place but then, well, Moffat happened), but if this goes well as anticipated Thirteen will most likely be a very close second, not gonna lie. I don't think I've ever been this excited for a new season of Doctor Who, and considering my love/hate and on/off relationship with this show that says something.

++ The cast of Brooklyn Nine-Nine made their first appearance at SDCC this year, and they didn't disappoint. Everyone looked so radiant and happy, basically basking in the joy about being renewed by NBC and having so much support and the love of the fans, which must've been the most gratifying and rewarding thing to witness after the whole cancellation/renewal that happened, especially with seeing all the fans that have loved and supported them throughout the seasons and advocated for the show to be renewed. I love them all so much and I love this show. Also, sidenote, the cast of the new season of Doctor Who ended up in a photoshoot with the B99 cast!

++ I haven't watched Voltron: Legendary Defender (yet), but it was revealed at SDCC that one of its main characters, Takashi Shirogane, aka Shiro, is a canonically gay man. (ﾉ◕ヮ◕)ﾉ*:･ﾟ✧

++ Wynonna Earp just got renewed for a fourth season. That's awesome, though I still find it strange that the show can get renewed even before the current season barely gets started, showcasing its popularity, and yet there are still no DVDs available for the show at all. :/

++ We have Deadpool 2 panel which is cool, but from that panel comes Ryan Reynolds talking about inclusivity, which anyone who has watched the films, especially the sequel, knows that they were very inclusive and bringing in more representation than most films do nowadays, especially superhero movies. I also would love there to be exploration of Deadpool's pansexuality in the future, as well. I know that they touched on that slightly in Deadpool 2, with Wade flirting with both Colossus and Cable alongside his love for Vanessa, but it would be utterly fantastic for them to go further with that, and I know that Ryan Reynolds has talked about that before, as well. He seems very genuine with wanting more of that kind of representation as a whole to reflect the real world.

These are just some of the things that have caught my eye with SDCC at the moment. I know that there's loads more as it's still happening, but I'm still catching up. And yes, there are other specific things I want to discuss, but that'll be for in a completely separate post altogether.

Same! I love how bubbly and excited they are in general, especially talking about the show. Also, I love that NBC gave them this opportunity to experience the fan love in anticipation for the new season, giving them the kind of exposure and marketing that FOX never did.

I'm right there with you about the crossover. Just the thought of it is so utterly delightful. I mean, perhaps it might not actually happen canonically on their networks, but maybe they could just do something for funsies? Like promotional material for both shows, that would be pretty neat. ;D

It is weird hearing Jodie Whittaker talking with her own accent, I'm too used to hearing her with the one she had in Broadchurch. I'm glad you think her accent is adorable, seeing as she's from the North, like me ;) I'm not entirely thrilled by the choice of Bradley Walsh as a companion, he's incredibly irritating and I can't really take him seriously as an actor.

As someone who identifies as pansexual, I would be rather pleased if that aspect of Deadpool is expanded upon. I'd like to see how they address the fact that it's not the same as bisexuality.

If I recall correctly, Nine also had a Northern accent as well, which was a deliberate choice by Eccleston. So I'm happy that Whittaker is able to use her natural Northern accent for Thirteen. :)

Same here. Already I'm seeing articles confusing the two or think that they're interchangeable, which they aren't. So it would be nice for a little more representation to add not just the visibility on the screen but also help educate those who don't understand the differences.

I rarely say that I'm pansexual because no one has a clue what it is! Considering it means you're open to all genders, not just male and female, surely that means that they're going to have to have a character that is non-binary. I think that is going to be quite mind-blowing for a lot of people, both viewers and those producing the film.

I read that he deliberately wanted to use a Northern accent (https://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/celebritynews/11533169/Christopher-Eccleston-on-Doctor-Who-I-didnt-want-him-to-have-a-posh-accent.html) for the Doctor as a character choice to show that people who were intelligent didn't always have a posh-sounding accent that is often depicted in media, which he claims his bosses didn't like.

There really needs to be more exposure of the LGBT+ community as a whole, because while the L and G are often seen in media more these days than before, sadly the B and T and other identities underneath the umbrella term aren't. Most people aren't aware there is anything else outside of gay or lesbian, and while sometimes it's just plain ignorance simply due to not knowing or doing any research on the topic, others can be rather, well, aggressive in their ignorance, and don't take it seriously. This is why having more visibility is important to educate people and make it more recognized.

I could never get into Doctor Who. I randomly watched Blink two weeks ago which I thought was alright...then I found out it's considered one of THEe best episodes. My mother loves the show though and she is looking forward to a female doctor :D

How adorable is the B99 cast!? They were so giddy about being able to swear and getting bleeped out. Melissa seemed so stoked about that.

"Blink" is probably the most notoriously best and well-known episodes, with good reason being one of the best stand-alones of the series by far with the way it's structured, and it's an episode that I really loved a whole lot. I didn't watch much of Ten's era (or at all, I stopped watching DW at that point until Eleven appeared) but that was definitely one of the highlights for me during that time. Though I suppose if you're not that enthused by Doctor Who in general it might not come across the same way. Even if it didn't blow you away, at least you did like it somewhat?

I loved how they were so excited about the possibility of being able to use profanity on the show and getting bleeped! I would love to see that happening. :D

Yes, the WE DVD thing is still so weird. Especially because I believe I saw a tweet about Wynonna Earp Funkos coming next year? So they get Funkos before there are DVDs. WHYYYY.

I mean, I do want WE Funkos, but. Before there are DVDs? Really? It's just strange all around. :/

I'm happy it's already renewed though. :D

Yeah, it's so bizarre, and rather frustrating because, again, I want to buy the DVDs! This is how I show support of the shows I love, and it makes me so upset that while some are available in particular international places it's not available here, except for a BluRay which you can only buy exclusively on a shady site where people have continually complained about the crappy quality. It makes no sense, and it makes me wonder if there's a clash between IDW and Syfy over the production of DVDs.

Either way, it's shitty that there hasn't been anything in regards to DVDs being sold. You'd think with their popularity (esp now with Funko Pops being sold!) that it would be time, so idk what their deal is. :/

(And yeah, I've ranted about this before multiple times in the past, but it's just a frustrating situation as a fan, y'know?)

I was always a little sad that after Eccleston kept his North accent, Tennant didn't keep his Scottish one, alas. Still, it's nice to see her using the Yorkshire accent, which does a lot about making Doctors more distinct?

I think the hubbub about Shiro in Voltron now is that he's got a (male) finance back on Earth, but they're dancing around the idea of whether he's bi or gay. Other hand, all aboard main ship!

Based on the interviews I've read/watched they've continually call and refer to Shiro as being a gay man, which I don't think they're using as an umbrella term. So that, to me, means he is 100% gay. However, I do think it's rather unfair that there's no actual clarification on their part and that they're dancing around the subject, which while I don't watch the show I know of the fandom (in not so favorable ways) and even though there's been an overwhelming amount of positivity from the news itself, certain corners seem to be tearing each other apart because of this as a way of justifying their preferred ships. So trying to remain neutral on the subject isn't really working that well.

I don't quite know how it works, but I'm assuming that their premiere did exceptionally well that they were able to get locked in for a renewal. It happens sometimes for shows where they are guaranteed another season even before the current season has begun, whereas some shows have to wait until their current season is finished before any announcement is made.
