The petition to help save Dark Matter has overwhelmingly reached over 30K signatures only after days since it was created, and it's still growing.

Joseph Mallozzi, the creator of the show, has been joining the fight to help get the show renewed and giving us updates on the goings on from his end. He, among many others involved with the show, were also bewildered and stunned by the sudden cancellation. While it's true that this the nature of the business is far more complicated and complex behind the scenes, this decision seemed rather illogical and strange considering how well the show was doing. And while there is some hope and optimism especially with how strongly the fanbase has reacted and even some others in the business as well, there is still work need to be done to gain attention from others who can help pick the show back up to finish the story.

So continue spreading the petition around, go on Twitter and use the appropriate tags to show support, contact Netflix directly via phone conversation or emails. Just keep on fighting. If Sense8 can at least get closure after its unjust cancellation, so can Dark Matter.

Yeah, there are so many amazing shows that end up getting cancelled and/or mistreated like this and it sucks so much. I know that nothing is guaranteed when it comes to fan campaigns and such, but we can at least try, right? It has worked for some shows before to get picked up by someone else or renewed/given closure.

You should totally check out the show whenever you get the chance to. If you liked Battlestar Galactica and Firefly I think you'll enjoy Dark Matter, for sure.

Wow it's good to hear so many people is getting involved and so quickly... and it's great of Joseph to keep us posted...

I understand it's a weird business but I honestly think the networks should give the chance to the show runners to conclude a story... If the show has low ratings or you want to cancel it for some reason, give them the chance, maybe with a short season or something, to end the story... it's not like NO ONE is watching the show... it's stupid of networks because a lot of people don't start new shows until they know they've been picked up, because they fear they will never see the end of the story...

My thoughts precisely. Also, showrunners need to plan ahead of time in case something like this happens. I've always held to belief that showrunners need better structure of seasonal arcs so that, in the event that their show gets prematurely cancelled for whatever reason, at least there will be some kind of closure of whatever is happening. Even if it isn't what they initially planned and there was more to the story, at least it won't end completely unfinished.

Ironically, that was one of the appeals of Netflix since creators were allowed the freedom to tell their stories which didn't follow the same conventional rules of network television, and they knew that audiences wouldn't want to binge watch shows that weren't finished. That is, of course, until Netflix started cancelling their own shows. The reason for that? According to Netflix, their renewal rate was so high that it was an imbalance so they needed to cancel shows. Yeah, because that makes so much sense. /s

(Thankfully, something like Sense8 got a chance to conclude their story, but not many shows get that opportunity but imho they should since nobody wants to watch a show that is unfinished.)

It's really kind of remarkable how fandom comes together during these times. Never underestimate the power and influence of fans, because no matter what the fans will always be loyal and faithful. And it seems that the campaigning is still going steadily strong. I don't know what will happen and I'm trying not to get my hopes up, but seeing all the support makes my heart swell with fannish pride!
