You're a dragon. Be a dragon.
Aug. 1st, 2017 03:51 am++ Wynonna Earp has been renewed for a third season! (ノ◕ヮ◕)ノ*:・゚✧
++ The Critical Role panel at SDCC was amazing, as all their panels are at conventions. But I'm honestly very excited because, aside from being incredibly funny as they usually are and answering all the fantastic questions, it was announced that there is going to be a comic book released about the early days of Vox Machina, how they all met and the adventures they had pre-stream. We know some of the details which they've informed us about here and there but never told or explained fully, and now we get it in comic book form! Which is honestly the best idea to kind of give the audience, especially newer audiences to the show, some background since the stream pretty much began in the middle of their campaign. Furthermore, the actually selectively chose a fan artist to do the artwork for the comic. One of the many things I love about Matthew Mercer and everyone involved with CR is how much they love and appreciate the fanbase and everything that comes from the fandom community. This, along with the official campaign book, is what I'll definitely be getting.
++ With the countdown for Carmilla: The Movie, which I honestly cannot wait for, there's been a lot of content featured on the KindaTV channel. This also includes Natasha Negovanlis reading a bit from the actual Carmilla novella. I've never read the novella myself, however, listening to Natasha read while giving some snarky bits of commentary here and there is what I'm living for. ❤
++ Game of Thrones is still a massive piece of garbage shitshow for multiple reasons, however I cannot deny that I'm immensely happy that Dany and Jon have finally met and that the remaining Stark children are finally reuniting after all this time. I'm still incredibly bitter and apathetic about all the other poor decisions the show continues to make for the sake of popularity/ratings and failure at understanding the source material in which they are adapting from, but these are very particular things I've been wanting and waiting for a long, long time. And honestly? I'm kind of angry at myself for being a sucker for these emotional character moments every single time.
At least this and the next season will be the last of the show, and then hopefully GRRM will actually release the final two books. If he ever decides to release them in the near future, that is.
++ Although having not watched Doctor Who in long time (I stopped after season six, after having previously stopped after the Ninth Doctor I think...I admittedly have a very complicated relationship with this show, lol), I'm very pleased with the casting announcement about the Thirteenth Doctor being a woman. Finally. It's about damn time. I am not familiar with the actress or her work, but I've seen many who are delighted by this choice due to the projects she's been in, so I'm sure she'll do a good job. Combining this announcement and the fact that Moffat is finally leaving the show, I'm quite tempted to getting back into it. Although it honestly depends on the new showrunner and how they'll be handling the story and the writing of the characters. Regardless though, the fact that the Doctor being genderfluid is now officially canon is truly amazing.

Date: 2017-08-01 11:44 am (UTC)Because, as it happens, I loved all their scenes together. Emilia and Kit have great chemistry and I love that Dany was all "kneel!" and Jon was like "Nope!". Now I'm starting to appreciate the pairing! XD
But I do care about the Stark kids. I want to see Arya's meeting with her brothers and her sister. I want the direwolves to come together once again! After six seasons of suffering, I think we deserve to enjoy the Stark family reunion. So, what the hell, I'm not going to feel guilty! XD
I also still care about Cersei's narritive. I'm very curious, I can't wait to see who will be the Valonquar (And now everyone's bets - and mine - are on Jaime) There's a huge difference in here, because in the books Jaime doesn't reply to her calling while in the tv series he seems to be still faithful as ever. I want to know what are they doing with this character! George, c'mon, just publish this damn book!
(You know, I'm also thinking that Euron too was a younger brother, right? But for the sake of poetic justice, yes, Jaime seems to be the most fitting character to play that role)

Date: 2017-08-01 04:18 pm (UTC)And yes, Jodie Whittaker has done some great work already, so I'm sure she'll be great as the Doctor. :-)

Date: 2017-08-01 05:57 pm (UTC)Honestly, the Stark kids are one of the only things keeping me invested in GoT. That, and the dragons. It was cool to finally see Jon and Dany onscreen together.
Other than Broadchurch, I don't know a lot about Jodie Whittaker's prior work. She'll be awesome though. I can feel it.

Date: 2017-08-01 07:54 pm (UTC)Seriously, everything about that was so good. I really liked that their first meeting had some tension and wariness on both sides, but it was handled incredibly well and their chemistry was so good. I mean, I've been waiting for them to meet since forever, and I was worried that I was getting my expectations too high and that I would end up being disappointed, which is common re: this show for many things, but I'm very happy with this result.
After six seasons of suffering, I think we deserve to enjoy the Stark family reunion.
For real. With the show ending next season, we do deserve at least one scene with all the Starks together again on the same screen before shit hits the fan and/or the show unnecessarily fucks it up somehow.

This is one of the many things that pisses me off about the show and their lack of understanding characters and the purpose of their arcs. In the books, Jaime is supposed to have gained some perspective regarding his sister and started drifting apart from her, not answering to her calls or pleas. But in the show he pretty much not only continues to stand by her side he even blatantly defends her despite having seen the destruction she deliberately caused -- by doing the very thing that Jaime had prevented when killing King Aerys. It's so dumb.
I very much believe that Jaime will be the Valonquar, as well, which perhaps is one of the possible explanations of the show watering down his character in this manner. They don't want people speculating early on that he would be the one to betray Cersei, since he is still so ~loyal or whatever. But regardless, show or book, I do believe it will be Jaime because it truly is poetic justice. That is something that fascinates me about Cersei's storyline, because she believes so wholeheartedly in this prophecy that it becomes a self-fulling prophecy since she doesn't realize it's her own paranoia that will be the cause of her inevitable downfall.

Date: 2017-08-01 10:05 pm (UTC)And yes, her own bad decisions are driving her to the point where the prophecy actually becomes true. Because she's making it so.
Amazing narrative arc!
And yes yes yes: Jaime was supposed to gain a necessary detachment from her after his experience as prisoner and after meeting Brienne. But I guess that, at some point, the narrative will get to the crucial point in the books? At least, I think so.
If Jaime is supposed to end one way in the books, I guess he will that too in the show. Except with a more twisted path XD And stuff to please the general audience.

Date: 2017-08-01 10:56 pm (UTC)I've heard she's fantastic in Broadchurch. I haven't seen that show but everyone has been praising her in it so I'm really looking forward to see what she brings to the table as the Doctor.

Date: 2017-08-03 11:36 am (UTC)Also Doctor Who's tenth season was actually pretty nice: Bill was a breath of fresh air as a Companion and she and Twelve worked well together. I'm actually sad to see him go, although I'm super excited for the first actress to play Doctor <3 <3 It was clearly on the way ever since the Master regenerated into a woman lmao.
Also! You should watch Attack the block since lady Doctor!Jodie is in it in a small role. I quite liked her in it!

Date: 2017-08-03 09:49 pm (UTC)Absolutely, and they've been hinting at this for a while now. I remember this being a huge thing when it was written to be confirmed about Time Lords being able to change genders during regenerating in "The Doctor's Wife". Hell, even with River Song changing her ethnicity during renerating, which is also something I've been wanting for with the Doctor as well. And honestly, it just makes sense. I was pleasantly surprised that they decided to go this direction and I hope this means that they'll continue moving forward down this path.
I have yet to see Attack The Block (I know John Boyega is in it, as well), but that is on my To Watch list. ;)

Date: 2017-08-04 05:48 am (UTC)YES YOU DO! The second season, season zero (which is to be watched after S2) and season three. The entire story of Carmilla is beautifully done. And of course, the film, which will be released this fall! So excited. :D
