Tatiana Maslany finally won her Emmy for Orphan Black!

I'm honestly so proud of her, so incredibly proud. Not only does she rightfully deserve this award for all the hard work she has put into the show with her performance portraying the variety of the different clones, but Orphan Black as a whole deserves this kind of recognition. Genre television hardly ever gets acknowledged by the Academy and this was just a little Canadian science fiction show that aired on BBC America. While we all wanted and wished ever since the first season that Tatiana deserved all the awards for her impeccable talent and acting skills, just the fact that she was nominated last year was enough. And now she finally won an Emmy! I know that winning awards aren't everything (as evident that there are so many amazing shows out there, past and present, that hardly got any kind of consideration) and that the love and support of the fanbase is rewarding enough, but even so it still feels so good nonetheless. It's been a long time coming, that's for sure.

Orphan Black in general is a wonderful little science fiction show that has brilliant writing, amazing acting (and not just by Tatiana herself) and strong representation of telling women stories, the fact that the show finally got this recognition makes me very happy, indeed.

Other highlights from last night include Rami Malek winning for Mr. Robot, and the Stranger Things children being adorable little cupcakes. ♥ ♥ ♥

Like, I'm always hopeful that she wins but I know with the Emmys it's near impossible that she would win among the rest of the amazing women from other shows she was up against. Just the nomination nod alone is enough sometimes, since not many even get that. So when she actually won this year I was pleasantly surprised! It made me so happy to see her accepting that award and being so adorable. Bless.

Yeah, I suspect most of the journalist/interviewers there didn't know who she was or even seen Orphan Black, which is kind of a bummer and disappointing when you'd think they would at least ask something aside from those three people (since I don't think they know beforehand who the winners are going to be, so they should have done their research for all the shows nominated in preparation just in case). But at least those who did ask her questions gave her something substantial to talk about (so articulate and eloquently in her usual humble manner, too), so there's that.

And considering the show is ending next year, I think it was appropriate for her to finally get rewarded for her extraordinary talent which goes overlooked so often during these kinds of award shows. ♥

I'm so excited that she won! She is an amazing actress. Sometimes I forget that she's one person portraying all of the clones vs. at least two people.

I'm the same. Every single time I watch Orphan Black I get lost in her performances and always forget that it's one actress playing all these different characters sharing the same scene together. Like. It's mesmerizing. She's such an extraordinary actress and she rightfully deserved this win. :)

She's such an amazing actress that I couldn't believe she hadn't won an Emmy yet. Each of her characters on Orphan Black are like totally different people. It's so easy to forget that it's not all one person. Her mannerisms and everything are different per character. I'm always so blown away! It was def a will deserved win!

I'm really behind on Orphan Black, but omg she absolutely deserves it. Playing all those different characters in the same episode has got to be a lot of work, but she does an amazing job.

For real, though. She has, like, five clones she portrays regularly in almost every episode (Sarah, Alison, Cosima, Helena and Rachel) plus having more being introduced onto the screen almost every season. And every single time you're mesmerized by her acting that you honestly forget that it is one actress playing all these characters.

It's kind of a crime that it took this long for her to be recognized, but at the same time it's fitting since the show is ending next year.

I honestly wasn't expecting it! Like, I was happy she was nominated again this year but with the lineup she was up against I thought there was no way, Viola would for sure win. But then she finally won! So happy. :)

I mean she's won other awards for the show prior to this, but there is definitely something about getting an Emmy for a little genre show that literally nobody knew about that is so rewarding and validating. And for someone like Tatiana who puts her heart and soul into her work and remains humble while doing so, she is more than deserving of finally being recognized by the Academy. :)

It amazes me that so many people seem to overlook or dismiss her portraying different characters on the show, or even think she isn't worthy enough to get an award for that alone. Like, Tatiana has managed to make each clone an individual by having different mannerisms, accents, patterns of speech, and just overall physical presence. She even manages to play a character masquerading as another character who is pretending to be another character. I mean, that's on another level, man. That alone is Emmy-worthy.

Either way, I'm glad that she finally got that recognition she rightfully deserves.

I am always rooting for Queen Viola (even tho I don't watch HTGAWM) but Tatiana was long overdue and who knows if she will even be nominated next year so I am very happy about her winning :)

I kind of want to adopt the Stranger Things kids. And I don't even like or want kids lol

I actually speculated that Viola would've gotten it for sure, but I'm happy that Tatiana got the win instead! And I agree, there is no guarantee that she'll be nominated next year especially with the show ending and all. So while this is long overdue I think the timing is most appropriate.

Those kids are so adorable, every time I see them in interviews and such they're always so endearing. ♥

It's bittersweet that the show is ending next year, but at the same time it has given her this amount of exposure and I do sincerely hope that she gets amazing projects in the future because of that. She is incredibly talented and deserves to have the same amount of wonderful roles as OB offered to her.

I have yet to see Mr. Robot, myself, but I've heard amazing things about the show.

I'm so happy to see genre television finally get some recognition! Tatiana does such a fantastic job so it's perfect that she finally won an award for it!

I don't watch award show anymore myself but I still think it's important to see genre tv be recognized there as that's how it will get more funding and more shows.

Genre television often gets the shaft during these things, and it makes me so incredibly sad, bitter and disappointed because so many good shows end up getting ignored because the Academy doesn't deem them "good" or "popular enough" to even be considered, or whatever. But whenever a genre show get nominated and then win, it's a huge win for all genre shows everywhere and a hope that someday more genre television will eventually get more recognition.

(Game of Thrones is nauseating in getting so many awards when it doesn't rightfully deserve it anymore, but we can't deny that a fantasy show getting this recognition is pretty good when normally fantasy has never gotten this kind of treatment at the Emmys. So even though I hate that it has broken records, I'm hoping that it breaking records puts more fantasy and genre television more into the Emmy category.)

Agreed about GoT. I can't even watch it any more to be honest. But the fact that it does get recognition gets more funding for other shows that I may love so I can't begrudge it too much.
