Asked by [livejournal.com profile] megan_moonlight:

If you could make a crossover of two/three shows/movies/games happen (or movie/game, game/show - any combination, really), which universes would you choose?

This is basically my favorite sandbox to play in because I constantly think about fandom crossovers, like the scenarios and which universes make the most sense to be crossed over with one another and how they would work, and even if it isn't logical at all, if there was some sort of magical, mystical way multiple fandoms could ever crossover and how their adventures would be like, the character reactions or even the rules of their universes clashing together, and so forth. Honestly, the possibilities are practically endless.

Lately, I've been rather intrigued with the notion of Marvel/DC and the world of Harry Potter crossing over. Mostly because I'm quite curious how this would actually work out, particularly with the Marvel/DC characters who have special abilities. They wouldn't be classified as witches or wizards since they're not magical folk, but they're also not entirely Muggle either, particularly with the characters who have otherworldly genes. Of course, the Wizarding World has issues with their own prejudices and the like, but it would be fascinating to see how the two universes would clash with each other, especially with the aspect of science versus magic, superhuman abilities through being experimented on versus natural magical abilities versus otherworldly abilities, etc. How would certain characters interact with one another? Example, Harry and his friends with the Avengers, or the students of Hogwarts with the X-Men? What would the reactions be like? If Voldemort and the Death Eaters invaded their universe, similarly to how portals to alien worlds have done, how would Marvel and/or DC characters take them on? Or vice versa? How would their abilities and superpowers manage against the powers of magical folk?

Just, questions and scenarios like that really intrigue and fascinate me so much because it challenges the rules of those universes, the things that would work and what wouldn't, and not everything is set in stone. You can literally make anything happen, it all depends on how far you want to take it, if it's just a lighthearted crossover or if you want to get more intricate with the inner-workings of their individual world-building.

Plus, I just love the idea of all these different characters in a single room interacting with each other. That is yet another thing I've thought about, which is taking characters from different fandoms who have suffered much PTSD and actually form a support group to talk through their problems, as they should. Like, imagine Harry Potter, Jessica Jones, Katniss Everdeen, Sansa Stark, Skye/Daisy Johnson, and just a bunch of other characters bonding over the shit they've been through and actually helping each other out emotionally, even befriending each other with the possibility of them crossing over to each other's universes to help from time to time.

Again, as I mentioned, endless possibilities.

Oh, yes, with all the big universes we now have: comics/HP/Star Trek/Star Wars, there are so many possiblities. I don't often read crossover fanfics (except daemon AUs, I enjoy these a lot), but I love seeing crossover fanarts.

I tend to construct certain crossovers myself, more outlining and planning out how it would be and maybe writing some of it, but never finishing or planning on posting them. But it's such an interesting subject matter, the aspect of fandom crossovers.

Crossovers of big fandoms like HP and Marvel do offer a lot of potentially awesome interactions.

For some reason now I think of Percy Weasley interacting with Nick Fury, Maria Hill and Phil Coulson XD I like that idea a lot.
