++ The first official promotional character portraits for the Harry Potter and the Cursed Child play are being released, and while this play is not something that I'm that interested in (and nor am I going to consider it canon, since I'm not a fan of the epilogue and I don't even consider that canon either) I'm very pleased that we have a black Hermione and that her daughter is black as well. The racists have already come out of the woodwork, sadly and disgustingly so, however it shouldn't lessen the excitement of seeing this level of representation. And we have an adult Draco and his son, and again even though I'm not interested in this play in the slightest I'm still a bit apprehensive about what their portrayal and roles in this will be.

++ There is a throwback commercial to the Razr flip phone, now I have no idea if this is something that's actually happening (if they can even converge the new with the old) or it was just for nostalgia purposes. Either way, it worked in bringing back the memories of not just the phone but the time of which it was released. I actually still have my old pink Razr phone, defunct obviously, but it's not only one of my favorites, it's also one of the prettiest phones I've ever owned. The only phone that can possibly compare is the new Rose Gold iPhone, which I don't have and probably will never get. At least, not until it becomes "old news", which has always been the case with the phones I get.

++ So, I have no plans on seeing the Alice Through The Looking Glass movie (never saw the first one, and to be honest these movies don't interest me and I heard it was terrible anyway), however the fact that Richard Armitage is in it for, like, three minutes makes me smile. I knew he had a cameo in the film, he mentioned it months ago, but I didn't know the extent until I saw the caps of his appearance. All regal and handsome, yass. ♥

I consider the epilogue canon, but honestly, nothing beyond that. The series ended. It's like the Buffy comics, which I've never actually read - they're a separate canon from the TV show to me, and although I am going to buy the script, unless I'm surprisingly impressed... even if I am, really. The seven book series ended.

I'd never personally pictured Hermione as black, but I'm fine with Hermione being played by a black actress. *Shrugs* Not sure why it's a huge deal.

Alice Through the Looking Glass was terrible.

I agree with the sentiment that the Golden Trio's journey has ended. Even if there are some interesting aspects to the play, I much prefer fanfiction that explores more in depth of the characters and what happened with them post-war. I do appreciate, however, that this is in an entirely different medium, kinda like how you mentioned with the BTVS comics. It's an extension of the world, but can be considered separate from the already existing canon. And besides, because this world is quite vast there are so many other stories to focus on with other characters, hence why I'm more intrigued with Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them.

It honestly shouldn't be a big deal, but sadly fandom can be overrun with a lot of ignorant and intolerant people and they'll make noise just because they can.

I wanted a Razr so badly because it looked cool and then I got one (in black) and was not happy with the phone. I mean,it still was super pretty and everything but it was lacking in functionality imo.
Also,I couldn't imagine going back to a normal phone. I don't know how I ever survived without a smartphone lmao

I've always been quite simple with my phones, all the functionality I wanted and needed was the ability to call someone or text. That was it. So I was pleasantly happy with my Razr until it stopped working, and I had to upgrade. Though for the time I had it I loved it. Now, of course, I can't imagine going back to when texting was such a chore to get through, lol.

North and South is such a good miniseries. I really want him to do another period piece like that, play another John Thornton type of character. But overall I'm quite excited for his upcoming projects that should be coming out very soon.

Alice Through The Looking Glass wasn't bad. The first was way better, but still wasn't bad.

As for the Razr phone...not sure I would like it now. I had one back in the day and loved it, but I'm too used to the Androids. The whole clicking the buttons through the alphabet to get your letter for a text message would kill me! :)

Yeah, unless they were to upgrade it with the newer functionalities that we're used to it would be very difficult to bring back the old style now. I loved my Razr, but texting itself on those things, or any phone back in the 00s, was incredibly difficult now that we think about it. Technology has evolved so much that what I thought was super cool back then seems ancient now, and it wasn't even that long ago! lol

I don't get what the fuss about Hermione is- she's never, ever explicitly described in the books as being of any particular race, though you can reasonably rule some out. There's also enough evidence in there to say she might be black, just as easily.

Unfortunately, the whole "white by default" mentality still exists and it brings all the racists out whenever a POC is cast in a particular role, no matter whether it was ambiguous or deliberately stated within the text itself (with the latter often being ignored the majority of the time). It's absolutely gross and disturbing. Thankfully, the majority I've seen have been in support of this particular casting, with the ignorant assholes being just a loud minority. But still, even if I'm not surprised it's still disappointing that certain people just can't stay in their own damn lane.

It was certainly an upgrade since most phones during that time were basically bricks, and when the slimmer phones started becoming a thing, the flip phones included, it was like a miracle.

I loved my Razr phone!! That was the big thing to have back in the day. I had the pink one, and then shortly after getting that of course they released other colors including blue, my favorite. I wound up getting the blue and and my mom used the pink one.

I've always felt the epilogue was rather unnecessary, and this being an extension of that makes me rather, meh. I'm curious what this play may contain, but otherwise it's not something I'll consider canon. I have fanfiction and my own headcanons for that, tyvm. ;)

He really does. And I'm so happy in learning that he was asked directly to play this role, like they approached him specifically without any auditioning. Like, of course you should go with Richard for this kind of role. Kingly, regal, and impossibly handsome. Who else would you pick? ;)

I pretty much feel the same about the razr commercial. I felt like I was in middle school again ha. I also had one for a short time and it's wild what you think was "as good as it gets" back in the day.

I've always loved seeing the fanart circulated the fandom for years depicting Hermione as black (and Harry as biracial), so seeing some of that finally happening in this play is absolutely wonderful and beautiful.

For me, it was during the college years (and it was my second phone, with the first being that brick of a Nokia phone that I got during my first year of community college). It really is kind of amazing when you think about how fast our technology evolves so much that, just about a decade ago, the Razr phones were considered the best of the best. Now look and compare. It's just so fascinating. I mean, just think, with all the updates versions of phones go through within just a year alone, imagine what we'll have ten years from now and how we'll most likely look back at the iPhone and think how cute it was that such a thing was advanced. Like, can you even comprehend what kind of upgrade of phone we'll have in the near future? It continually blows my mind.

You know what, I've never watched/read HP, never once cared much to do so, but I've seen the pictures of Hermione's family and I'm just super pumped that it's actually happening. All the shitstirring and drama and bullshit can continue to explode because it's not just casting nonsense, it's pictures now and the play is gonna start soon with a black main character and I'm just way too excited about that for someone who doesn't like Harry Potter lol. I just love seeing racists get steamrolled. It was the same way with Star Wars.
