++ Berlin Station, starring Richard Armitage and Michelle Forbes, is a new spy series that will be premiering this fall on Epix. I have been following the updates on this, knowing that Richard had been in Berlin for months filming this show, and I'm pretty stoked that both he and Michelle worked together.
++ Recently at the television upfronts it was announced that the CW was going to be doing a massive crossover with all of its DC superhero shows: Arrow, The Flash, Legends of Tomorrow and newest network transfer Supergirl. Even though anything can happen when comic book multiverses are involved, it does make me wonder how this would even work and how successful these crossovers will be. I mean, there have been a few crossovers with Arrow with its spin-off series, The Flash and Legends of Tomorrow, because they exist in the same universe. Supergirl, however, doesn't exist in the same universe and the only reason we had a crossover with The Flash is the first season was because Barry accidentally flashed himself there and was trying to find a way back home. And that worked splendidly because, well, Kara and Barry together were adorable. Their personalities just meshed really nicely and I would love them to interact once again just due to that cuteness factor alone. I would also love Kara to meet the Legends of Tomorrow crew too. I just don't really see Supergirl meshing well with Arrow, to be honest. It's not necessarily on the same wavelength, tone-wise. So I don't know how that'll work, if that crossover even happens in that particular way. It's still in the early stages of planning these crossovers, and I'll admit it does sound slightly enticing to see how the final product will be. I'm just hoping that it works out for the best.
And again, even if this move makes sense I'm still rather nervous and apprehensive about the changes Supergirl will be making, and I'm hoping it doesn't suffer too greatly from it. Regardless though, I am here for this. ♥

Date: 2016-05-24 07:49 pm (UTC)The only thing I don't like about having Supergirl crossing over to the CW is that Calista is going to be a guest star now and not a regular due to the budget! I personally enjoyed the whole Kara/Cat dynamic and it bothers me to think we're not going to see it on a weekly base... I will give up all the male characters to have just the Denvers sisters and Cat... It's no secret I can't stand Jimmy Olsen so I would love to see him gone instead...

Date: 2016-05-24 08:20 pm (UTC)That's what I'm afraid of. I love Cat Grant, she's a fantastic addition and the relationship built between her and Kara has been beautiful, so limiting her presence on the show will just be ultimately sad.
I love James Olsen (he is bae) and his relationship with Kara since day one (OTP ♥). So I definitely want him to stay. I'd rather have Winn go, tbh.

Winn can totally go... He lost his purpose... I don't know what it is with Jimmy... Maybe is the casting choice... Maybe is the fact Kara is so sunny and he looks like is always sad??? I don't know... I imagine Jimmy Olsen more like Barry, you know, that kind of silly happy guy. That's why I really like Barry and Kara!!!
As for Arrow I have to say I'm not very into this season. The island flashbacks are dull and I miss the wig and the team is just too big. I miss season 1 and 2...

Date: 2016-05-25 01:30 am (UTC)Perhaps he has a bit of stoic face sometimes, but I don't see him as sad. He smiles quite a bit on the show, and when he does, it is beautiful. And his chemistry with Kara is off the charts ever since their first meeting and I've been rooting for them since day one. Barry and Kara are cute in a BFF kind of way and I love their friendship, but I also love the chemistry shared between Kara and James, since he always believes in her and I really want to see how their relationship will progress from here (and please don't let it fall in the CW relationship traps, please let them remain a happy and healthy relationship because it can be done).

I stopped watching the show when they killed Sara. Yeah, they resurrected her a season later but she shouldn't have been killed off in the first place. It was only done so that Laurel could become the Black Canary (and then they killed her too, which apparently so far is irreversible even though they could do literally anything for Sara to bring her back, save her sister like she saved her). The island flashbacks should have ended seasons ago, imho. It was nice in the beginning of filling in the blanks, but it's just overkill now. And I've heard they pretty much destroyed Felicity's character, which bums me out because she was adorable in the beginning. :(

Date: 2016-05-25 03:02 am (UTC)With Barry being able to go through other Earths he can pick up another Sarah if he wants, so we can have a Sarah that is not a Sarah but it's Sarah so our Sarah technically doesn't have to come back... I just saw the season finale tonight... Did you see it?

Date: 2016-05-25 03:09 am (UTC)Yeah, Arrow doesn't really fit with the tone of the other shows. Though The Flash did get pretty dark this year so it didn't seem as far off in tone from Arrow as it was in season 1. And Legends has a lot of humor but it also dealt with some dark stuff. Still...Arrow is like oppressively dark all the time.

Date: 2016-05-25 03:52 am (UTC)I've liked the crossovers they have done so far for the most part, but you're right that Supergirl and Arrow might not mesh. That said, they've already tweaked the way the characters from Arrow behave a bit while they're on The Flash, so if the writers stay aware of that tonal difference they should be able to make it work.
I just don't want them to try to make Supergirl more like Arrow. I love that it's such an upbeat show for the most part and I don't want that to change.

Date: 2016-05-25 03:54 am (UTC)That makes perfect sense, and definitely would work much better for a crossover. Having a few characters from each show collaborating together to defeat some kind of villain or something like that would be so much more epic and amazing. Sort of like having the strongest characters who will mesh perfectly together create their own mini superhero team or something for a special crossover event. That would probably be much better than the standard crossover format.
Still...Arrow is like oppressively dark all the time.
Yeah, shows like Supergirl, The Flash and Legends of Tomorrow apparently are very good with balancing out the lighthearted moments with the darker aspects, to the point where you can actually see them crossing over because their tones are similar enough to work. Arrow, on the other hand, has always had this darker tone. It would be like crossing over Jessica Jones or Daredevil with Agents of Shield. It would be nice to see these characters interact, but the tones to really match up unless you have really good writers to make it work.
I know we're jumping ahead of the game here and speculating, and who knows? Perhaps they can make it work with the right people behind these crossovers.

Date: 2016-05-29 06:47 pm (UTC)I'm of that same mindset, too. Arrow is bleak and grim on its own, but when they have managed crossovers with the other shows it does much better. So having competent writers handling this massive crossover it can work.
I just don't want them to try to make Supergirl more like Arrow. I love that it's such an upbeat show for the most part and I don't want that to change.
While I don't think they will change the tone entirely, it is a fear of mine that they'll try to fit into the network too much and change things that made Supergirl successful from the start. The reason so many people ended up loving the show was how upbeat and lighthearted it was as opposed to the darker tones other DCU things have. Plus, the show has proven that it can still go into those emotionally dark places without going grimdark or drab. Supergirl has a nice balance that works and I don't want them to change that even if they're changing networks.

Date: 2016-06-10 07:22 am (UTC)Supergirl is simply adorable, I think you'll end up liking it. It is lighthearted and fluffier than the other DC shows, but it also has plenty of emotional moments and shows tons of heart. Granted, I haven't seen The Flash yet and some are saying that The Flash is similar in tone (hence why their crossover was perfect since their personalities matched). It just makes me rather curious to see how all the shows are going to work together in a massive crossover mashup.
