NBC cancels Hannibal.

But fear not, since there's been talk about others wanting to partner with the show and find them a new home if and when the day came that NBC decided to let them go. So hopefully we'll be seeing more seasons of Hannibal, just not with NBC.

They always said that the show was always on the cusp of being threatened with cancellation due to its subject matter, though it makes me sad since the third season just started with the move to the summer. I would've thought that such a move would've been better for the ratings, turns out not so much. But imagine the show being picked up by something like Netflix, where Bryan Fuller can go all out with his imagination that NBC wouldn't allow him to. Hannibal is a show that is certainly not for everyone, but it is still a show that has had a loyal fanbase and is worth keeping around, if only for one more season to wrap everything up with how Fuller wants to handle his version of the Hannibal Lector story.

I haven't watched it, but most of my friends have and I got sad when I read the news. Still, I'm glad they're trying to be positive about it. Fingers crossed! Hopefully it'll find a new home <3

I'm both shocked and unsurprised at the same time, because while I knew that it has always been threatened with cancellation since the series premiered, I didn't expect the news to be so...abrupt? Especially as soon as the third season started at their new move and timeslot in the summer.

But at least everywhere over there seems to be keeping up the positive spirits at finding a new home for it, so I'm keeping positive thoughts along with cautious optimism.

I KNOW! D: ESP BRYAN FULLER SHOWS, TOO GOOD FOR NETWORK TELEVISION TBH.

The third season has started off brilliantly, imho. It's rather slower than the previous seasons but with good reason. It's an intriguing look so far with where Hannibal and Will current states are, and what is being planned for their futures. It's still as unsettling as ever, and deliciously so. I'm loving the pacing, which I think will work better with it being marathoned, but still I'm enjoying it so far. This news saddened me but at least NBC is having the decency of showing the rest of the season during the summer. More than anything I want to see where all this goes, especially getting to the Red Dragon storyline which I'm really excited about.

Pushing Daisies, Wonderfalls, shows that were ahead of their times and were taken for granted. I was hoping that Hannibal would've broken that curse, and perhaps it still might if/when it gets picked up by someone else. *crosses fingers and all the positive thoughts*

Oh wow, that's surprising! Isn't Hannibal popular and critically acclaimed? Or is it just that the subject matter is getting too hairy for network television? I had no idea it was always on the cusp of cancellation.

In any case, that's truly disappointing. Hannibal isn't a favorite show of mine by any means, but I still enjoy it. I really hope Netflix picks it up!

I'm not really surprised either. Even the Twitter feeds have been relatively quiet this season so far. I guess it finally sank to not having a big enough audience. That's too bad, but maybe it'll be better to get it streaming or something. It'd sure be easier for me, since I can't really stay up to watch it these days anyway.

It is. I've seen nothing but praising reviews from critics, but when it comes to the networks it's all about the numbers and the show has been struggling with the ratings since day one. It's why many people were pleasantly surprised that it got renewed after its first season, and why fans kept holding their breaths whenever upfronts were happening. So I think it's a ratings thing, plus whatever behind-the-scenes things were happening.

I really hope it finds a new home. It's really is a good show and Bryan Fuller is simply amazing with what he does with his creations, and I hope someone else sees that and appreciates it unlike these other networks.

I'm disappointed but not surprised. I didn't think it would get to stay on a major network as long as it did. It's definitely more suited for Netflix, so hopefully they'll pick it up by the time this season ends. I can't see it just ending here, they've got some pretty dedicated fans.

I feel like the show is better suited for something like Netflix anyway, considering its content, and the fact that Bryan Fuller will be able to do some of the things he's had restrictions on doing in order to fit into the appropriate mold for network television. I just feel sad because we were all hopeful when the show made the move to summer.

Anyway, I'm keeping my fingers crossed that they will find a new home for the show and that it will continue on. They seem to be very passionate about the show as much as the fans are, so let's just hope.

I think we are all stunned that the show lasted as long as it did on network television. Many were surprised when it got renewed after the first season to begin with, so that fear about it being canceled has always lingered. Especially a Bryan Fuller show, where his brilliance is always overlooked by TPTB. But you're right, I do believe the show is better suited for something like Netflix where Fuller can have the freedom of doing what he couldn't with the restrictions of a network. Plus, when you take into account the pacing of the show, having all the episodes released at once would be better.

The fans are very dedicated, and I'm happy that Fuller and Co. are just as passionate about the show as we are and are trying to find another home for it. And I hope it does, I really do.

Just pray that they will be able to find a new home for the show. They seem hopeful, so I'm remaining hopeful and cautiously optimistic as well. Other shows have been saved through other options (Netflix, Hulu, Amazon Prime), so they may have a fighting chance! *crosses fingers*

i've always wanted to watch this show, but can't bring myself to bc i'm not great w/ gore. shame it's being canceled, though! i've heard nothing but good things.

Yeah, this is one show where I can positively say that if you're squeamish about gore it might not be for you. Because while it is beautifully shot in such an artistic manner, it is quite graphic with the body horror and imagery, never mind the unsettling nature of what goes on. It's something I know I can handle, but I know many others cannot.

NBC may not want the show anymore, but I'm hoping that them shopping around for other partners willing to pick it up will be successful. They are just as passionate as the fans are, so I'm remaining positive and supportive that they will find a new home so the show can continue.

Poor Bryan Fuller, isn't this like his fourth show to get cancelled. :( At least there's a chance of some other network picking Hannibal up. I wasn't that happy with S2 and S3 so far but it's still one of the most artistic, beautiful and original shows out there and brought some much-needed difference from the regular crime show.

And dammit, they didn't even get to Red Dragon. At least Molly and Dolarhyde will get introduced in S3.

The third season is still going to be shown fully throughout the summer, so we'll still be seeing the Red Dragon storyline played out, along with everything else this season is setting up. :)

But I'm hoping that someone else is willing to pick up the show, and they at least seem hopeful to find it a new home.

I've really been enjoying the show. S3 has started off in a quiet manner, which I'm actually really liking the pace of. It's almost like a unsettling stillness before the new upcoming storm that will happen. I just love this style of storytelling, which is very different from other crime dramas out there. I mean, besides the fact that it's Hannibal Lector, of course.

I kind of hope it doesn't get picked up by anyone? I gave it up before starting S2 because I was behind and I'd heard about so much questionable stuff going down that season (starting with Bev and it just sort of tumbled downwards from that).

I know that many were disappointed and sad with what happened with Beverly, as was I, but that didn't hinder my enjoyment of the show and I actually really liked the second season, and the show overall is simply fantastic. Is it perfect? No, but I like the story being told and I want it to continue. So far, the third season is shaping up to be absolutely remarkable -- there's definitely building up for something and if nothing else, especially with the future Red Dragon storyline (something I am very excited about, tbh), I really want there to be a fourth season since Bryan Fuller seems to have amazing plans for what's to come in the next chapter.

There is at least a 50/50 chance of it being picked up, so I'm really hoping that it does because I, personally, want to see more.

I've heard some conflicting things about wanting to introduce Clarice, like something involving the rights to using her character or something. But regardless, I would love to have seen her (or an equivalent of her character) on the show. I have also heard about his plans for the fourth season in regards to Will and Hannibal's relationship, which I certainly want to see more of.
