Agent Carter has been renewed! (ノ◕ヮ◕)ノ*:・゚✧

There was a lot of hopeful attitudes that it would be getting a second season, but as I've mentioned before you just never know with what the networks are going to decide. So I'm very happy and relieved by the official announcement. Another lovely thing is that Hayley Atwell addresses the diversity problem as someone prompted at WonderCon recently, and surely hopes that her input to the writers and producers on the show will be taken into account for the second season. This is one of things I absolutely adore about her, she takes things into consideration and is down for particular ideas. Like Peggy being bisexual and acknowledging the lack of diversity representation, among just really understanding her character and being really smart about things in general. Overall, she's one amazing woman who I want love to just hang out with.

I'm not surprised that Agents of Shield was renewed, they're pretty much sealed in at this point with coinciding with the MCU. I am, however, kind of surprised that the Mockingbird spin-off wasn't picked up. Then again, as much as I would love to see their individual stories fleshed out, I prefer Bobbi and Hunter being part of the AOS ensemble.

Elementary, Galavant, Orphan Black and Fresh Off The Boat have all been renewed as well.

For things non-show related, apparently Lifetime has ordered a My Sweet Audrina adaptation. I'm not entirely thrilled by this. Not just because it's my second favorite book of VCA's works, but also because I watched their version of Flowers in the Attic when it premiered and it just...wasn't that good, and I haven't bothered watching the rest of the movies being made. They just don't feel right, like they're missing vital components to making these stories unnerving rather than just highlighting the trashy soap opera aspect that many people often associate with these books. The latter can probably be argued with content featured in the later works written by the ghostwriter surely, but not with VCA's earlier works which has much more darker themes and content. While I understand this is what Lifetime does and they're obviously banking on these series of movies, I honestly wish we would get adaptations that understood the Gothic tone of these books.

It's probably for the better that they're not going for the Bobbi & Lance spin-off, because I don't feel like there's enough content for 2 SHIELD shows.

Yeah, those are my feelings too. It was a nice thought, especially if it meant having Adrianne getting to lead her own show, but in all honesty whatever expansion to their story can be told on Agents of SHIELD rather than on a separate show entirely.

She really is! Beautiful and wonderful, and someone who I would love to meet, if nothing else than to gush and geek out over/with. :)

So excited that Agent Carter got renewed!

Glad AoS got renewed too, and I'm actually glad that Hunter and Bobbi stayed on AoS (and not just because I don't care for Huntingbird). I feel like they add a lot to AoS, but I don't know that there's enough to create a whole other show despite how awesome Bobbi is.

It was such pleasant news to hear. :)

I agree. I don't mind more Marvel shows to expand more characters and their stories, but only if they have enough material for such show to be created. As far as Bobbi and Hunter they already kind of have their story being told on Agents of SHIELD, and there just isn't enough for them alone, and if they need to tell their story they can just do that on AOS rather than feeling the need to create an entirely separate series for that. I love them on the show anyway, they just add something more and I love the ensemble of characters working together like that.

I've heard that apparently the Mockingbird spin off was let go to make room for the Agent Carter renewal but I don't know how much truth there is to that because it was hearsay. Either way, I agree that Bobbi's better when she's interacting with the current set of characters.

Yeah, that wouldn't make any sense, because there was already talk and hope for Agent Carter to be renewed, and the possibility of the Mockingbird spin-off was brought up (at least publicly) very recently. But as you said, it's all hearsay.

Yay for Agent Carter! I still need to watch the first season :x The again in general I'm behind on quite a few shows.

I feel like sometimes Lifetime movies get it right and other times they're just really bad adaptions :x

I'm also on the same boat of catching up with shows. I think my thing has mostly just been wanting to wait so I can binge watch things, unless it's something that I'm really into.

Yeah, Lifetime isn't exactly reliable of handling certain things well. Sometimes they do a decent job, other times however it just doesn't work out. Sadly, that's how I feel about the VCA adaptations. They have certain things right, but other things completely wrong, and the acting was mediocre at best. :/

There's definitely some shows that I've been DLing and then just putting in a folder to binge watch later - I feel like it's easier that way; but at the same time I stay loyal to certain shows of course, just like you do :)

So excited about Agent Carter getting renewed, I was a bit worried tbh - because the ratings weren't exactly stellar for it (which is a damn shame, wtf people) but I'm hoping maybe word of mouth will spread for S2.

I'm hoping it gets more promotion, as well. You'd think with something like MCU that they would step up their game in that department in getting the word out more. Hopefully for S2.

They were going to do a Bobbi and Hunter spin-off? That is one of the worse ideas I've ever heard! I like those two, but they're just not enough to keep me interested. I feel like it'd be the Supernatural spin-off all over again. Except for a cooler show.

And yay! Renewals!

Well, I wouldn't go so far as saying that. It actually seemed pretty cool in theory especially with since the S2 finale definitely had a lot of setup for what would've been the spin-off, never mind that Adrianne would've gotten to lead her own show (which she deserves, tbh), but in honesty it does seem a bit overkill. Bobbi and Hunter work better with the ensemble already established than if they were go be on their own show.

And if the finale taught us anything, is that you can flesh out characters and give them excellent storylines and things to do even when part of an ensemble. So the spin-off isn't really that necessary.

To be fair, I was specifying my personal preference in the matter. I have also been wrong in regards to television shows before. Half of my favourite shows I did not want to start watching.

Then again, you've got more information to go off of as I have yet to watch the finale. I'm waiting for tonight when I can make a little party of it.

SEASON 2 SEASON 2 SEASON 2

That said, even with all the hopeful mutterings, I wasn't actually sure that it'd get the renewal? Which I'm very glad it did and hopeful that season 2 delivers on all that was missing from season 1, but it still comes as one of those pleasant surprises.

I think because it was initially meant as a limited series that suddenly people wanted more of, that there was a 50/50 shot of it getting renewed. But hey, if Galavant could get another season, so could Agent Carter. Both which I'm happy about. :D

I've not watched Agent Carter yet BUT it's on my computer waiting for me. I'm excited to plunge in as a lot of people really seem to love it.

I'm also not surprised about AoS, I don't think it gets great ratings but it seems to do well enough for Marvel to fund it and it's not as if they've got a shortage of money.

I watched both the first and second Lifetime movies of the Flowers in the Attic series. I'm going to have to reread the books before going on as I found with the second one I remembered some of what was going on but my memory is spotty on it. I think Lifetime is trying to get the whole book into the movie which means they skip around a lot. So if you're familiar with the book they're hitting the key parts. If you're not then things feel disjointed and your mind can't fill in the blanks as easily.
