We are not monsters.
Mar. 2nd, 2015 01:14 pm++ Devastating news about Leonard Nimoy's passing. I didn't watch Star Trek so I didn't have that kind of connection many seem to have, but I do know that he was a good man and was well-respected not just amongst the geek community but in real life, given the accomplishments and deeds he did. He truly lived a long and prosperous life, and his legacy will continue to live on. Rest in peace, Leonard Nimoy.
++ How To Get Away With Murder - "The Night Lila Died" / "It's All My Fault"
Quite an interesting revelation that Frank was the one who killed Lila, on orders from Sam of course. I'm not entirely bothered by this, considering in hindsight it does make sense that Frank would do something like this given his behavior throughout the season, nor am I bothered that we didn't really see him and Sam conspire with each other. Even though Frank was the one who committed the crime, Sam is still equally responsible for pretty much making a hit on her. Of course this leads more questions into the why.
I'm deeply saddened about what happened with Rebecca. I really liked her character, which seems to be an incredibly unpopular opinion amongst the fandom. I really wanted to see where things would've gone with her and Wes, how things would've been repaired and moved forward, having her come out of this ordeal unscathed. There were so many opportunities for her character, and I'm quite bitter that the writers didn't feel she was worth more than just simply being a pawn in the game. Yes, she lied, but who hasn't on this show? Everyone is guilty of some kind of dishonesty or doing monstrous things with good intentions. She deserved more than simply being killed, to be the next mystery to be unsolved in the next season.
It does beg the question on who would kill her, though. Frank and Annalise were both accusing each other, in the "you're cold-blooded and ruthless to do this" sort of way. Frank may have killed Lila, but I don't think he killed Rebecca.
I'm not entirely sure how to feel about the HIV storyline involving Connor/Oliver. It feels somewhat stereotypical for the gay couple to deal with something like this.
Michaela's speech about loving herself was enough was amazing and powerful. I pretty much adore anything when a woman realizes her own self-worth. I like that characters like Michaela and Laurel are finding more confidence in themselves and coming to their own.
In short: bring on the next season.
++ Orphan Black Official Season 3 trailer. (!!!)
++ Grace Helbig and Hannah Hart will be starring in the reboot of Electra Woman and Dyna Girl. This took me completely by surprise, and it was a pleasant surprise. I'm a fan of both these girls and they've both worked hard on their content and projects, from being in a feature film to writing their own books, never mind their own channel content in general, so the reveal that they were going to be collaborating together to reboot a 70s show where they will be playing superheroes is just outstanding! I'm so proud of them. And I can't wait to see what it'll look like. Grace has already some brief behind the scenes footage of rehearsing and already I can tell it's going to be fantastic. I'm almost positive that it'll be a webseries or something mostly exclusive to the Internet. You can go on the official website and sign up for mor information and sneak peeks and the like. (◕‿◕✿)

Date: 2015-03-03 03:05 pm (UTC)I was not a fan of Rebecca but I wasn't expecting them to kill her off. I assumed her mystery rescuer had shown up and that they would be off on the sidelines plotting against Annalise's group for a while.
I liked seeing Michaela and Laurel developing more confidence in themselves too. Seeing the real Michaela come out with Aiden's mom was a great scene.
I don't know why but I can't make myself commit to Orphan Black. I like it but I've been trying to finish the first season since it came out. With so many of my shows ending for the season, maybe I'll push through and see if I want to continue to season two.

That would've been awesome. I'm sad that nothing like that will ever happen, though. :(

Here's hoping that you do, too. The first season was pretty much amazing. The second season is a bit slower paced than the first, but I still liked it. And now with the third season I'm getting all pumped up for it, even though it's still like a month away.
