Lost Girl 5.06 "Clear Eyes, Fae Hearts"

Things I was here for:

Tamsin being a snarky cheerleader and a football player, and looking hot as both. ♥

Queer representation of a football player and a male cheerleader being a couple together.

Greek mythology being part of the plot, which I'm definitely curious about and it certainly will be interesting once Bo reveals what she encountered and learned when she was in Valhalla with Persephone, and how she may have been the cause of this as she did light the candle. It does make you question what is going to happen, whose side they are really on, and how this all connects to Bo's final confrontation with her father. Either way, Greek mythology fascinates me and I'm intrigued on how the show is going to integrate them into the remaining last episodes of the series.


Things I wasn't here for:

The whole competition thing about who gets to be with Bo, because it's such a tired concept about romantic triangles and there being a competition about who gets to claim someone else from another person, and at this point in the show it's rather exhausting and we don't need anymore of that. What sucks is how in love Tamsin is with Bo, and how she cares about her well-being, and considering how they've been going about their relationship on the show it will only end in heartbreak and I'm also not here for that, either. I know it is ultimately Bo's decision and that's what matters most, but it's just, Tam-Tam has been blissfully happy in these last episodes, and to see that taken away from her and this being her last life too, just no.

Also, I'm someone who is advocating for Bo to be in a polyamorous relationship, as she obviously loves all the people she's been romantically involved with in the show and it would solve all the problems with the shipping debate on who she has to be with as endgame. She can be with all of them. Plus it makes sense given her nature as a succubus. Furthermore, aside from that, I would love at the end of the day to just choose Kenzi as her life partner, since it started with them and it should end with them.

My worry is how the show is going to handle it, since they're trying to do the pitting one lover against another kind of deal already and Bo has to "make a decision" or whatever, a tired trope I want to see die in a fire. Just, allow Bo to be poly, please. It's not that hard, and she's already kind of been in a sense, just without anything being official stated.

Plus, this show was supposed to be progressive. You know, a character that's never punished for her sexuality, a character who's literally empowered by it. Why make her choose a traditional relationship? Right now, you've basically got Lauren, Dyson, and Tamsin all circling Bo, all desperately in love with her. THAT'S going to end well.

Mainly, though, I'm miffed that Tamsin didn't get a 'time' with Bo where they were actually together as a couple. Because right now it's clear that Tamsin is acting like they're in a relationship, and Bo is acting like they're just friends with benefits.

Plus, this show was supposed to be progressive. You know, a character that's never punished for her sexuality, a character who's literally empowered by it. Why make her choose a traditional relationship?

Exactly. I mean, the show isn't perfect by any means, considering some of the consent issues that happen, but the main point was how important it was to show Bo being empowered and in control of her sexuality, to be able to choose who she wants to be with, man or woman, human or Fae, single or multiple lovers. I think it's also important to note that while she was with Lauren she tried so hard to remain monogamous for her sake, but in doing so she was literally starving herself from what she needed to heal and survive. So it's already been established that she can't be in a traditional relationship because her succubus nature simply can't allow it.

Because right now it's clear that Tamsin is acting like they're in a relationship, and Bo is acting like they're just friends with benefits.

Ugh, I know, and that just kills me. I love their scenes together, but I know that because of the lack of conversation on where they stand relationship-wise it's gonna hurt once it is brought up. :(

Yes to the poly. It really would make sense, and if Bo has to be with any of them, it'd solve everything. Plus, as a succubus, it's probably the best solution for her. Here's to hoping that's what'll happen ^^ Or just Kenz. <3

Just so long as Tamsin gets to be happy. I loved how she woke up and told Bo about her dream, and the way she told it, and then that smile and just being so comfortable. <3
Also, yes. She rocked both of those looks. <3 :D

I'm very intrigued by the mythology, and look forward to seeing what they'll do in the remaining episodes. :D

Considering that the creator of the show wanted to show a bisexual lead who wasn't shamed or demeaned for her sexuality, and who actually was empowered and in control of her own sexual needs and desires, it would be amazing to see a healthy poly relationship be featured on television.

I really want Tamsin to be happy, after everything she's been through and this being her last life. Whether it's romantically with Bo or just being by her side, I want Tamsin to just be happy. ♥

It is just so unnecessary. I would love for a show to not go this route in trying to have characters compete with each other for the affections of another. It's so overdone and tired and stupid. I want to have hope that Lost Girl goes against the grain, but with the way things are going I'm not certain that it'll end up that way, which concerns me.

I want the show to remember what the mission statement was about: Bo living the life she chooses. What is right for her as a character, not what the networks want and certainly not picking sides between the fan debate of who gets to be with Bo in the end. Most shows tend to lose their way in making that mistake instead of understanding and listening to the natural development of characters and their relationships.
