Finally got to see The Hobbit, and I just have one thing to say:

Thorin Oakenshield.

Hot damn. Just, hot freaking dayum. You can be the king of my mountain anytime you'd like, good sir.

Who knew there was going to be hot dwarves in this movie? I sure didn't, nor did I expect to get attached to this particular one as quickly as I did. I'm going to see it a second time tomorrow since I'm still processing my thoughts in order to make a proper cohesive review, because right now all that's been invading my mind is Thorin being all heroically majestic and brooding and just, um, yeah. ;)

I am finally seeing that movie today for the first time. I'm excited.

It's pretty damn awesome, ngl. All the cast was simply fantastic, the scenery and cinematography was just gorgeous, and the way the story is being told just makes me even more enthralled. :D

Lol I know right? Kili's pretty hot too, but it's all about Thorin.

I didn't realize just how much I would love Thorin until seeing the movie. I went in expecting it to be Kili, who I think is totally adorable. But it was Thorin who captured my full attention. It was unexpected, but I'm not complaining one bit. ;)

Yes! I adore Thorin. Kili is also hot, but I love Thorin's character more. Just made a fanmix for him. I've already seen the movie twice, and if I could afford it I'd see it again.

I honestly wasn't prepared to become so attached to his character as I am. It just sort of crept up on me unexpectedly. His entire presence demands attention, and attention and inevitable infatuation is what he got, alright. He kind of stole the entire show for me, tbh.

If I can, I'm planning on seeing it again on IMAX soon.

I saw it recently with my parents; it was very good, although I thought it was a departure from the book to be so epic. My old school friend and her boyfriend had seen it before us and were raving about it when they came over.

I love the additional scenes since it ties and connects everything together nicely, and really gives it more detail on what is happening in this world on a grander scale.

You totally should! It is simply awesome. I've already seen it twice, and I'm planning on a third time in IMAX. That's how awesome it is. Granted I've kind of fallen for a particular character which encourages this many viewings of it, but idc. ;p

Ohhhhh my god I hear you. Not only am I madly smitten with Thorin, I'm also so sailing the S.S. Bagginshield. I can't even help it. Like, honestly, I've been reading this book over and over since I was ten, and I so did not expect to come out of the movie with a shiny new pairing. Whoops. :D

But yeah. I thought it was phenomenal. Some of the scenes, my god - it was like Peter Jackson and company reached right in my brain and took out the images there. It was like watching the book onscreen. The singing at the beginning, and the riddle scene with Gollum, and just... guh. The music, the acting (Martin Freeman = ♥, Ian McKellan was fantastic, as always, and Andy Serkis deserves a freaking medal), the characters, the music, the scenery... I'm just the happiest Tolkien nerd ever right now.

Seriously, I didn't expect to become attached to anyone when walking into the theater. But then everything was primarily focused on Thorin and his quest and purpose and backstory, and I just fell hard. It was so unexpected, but not in a bad way. If nothing else, I found another reason to continually see the movie in theaters as much as possible. ;)

I don't ship anyone, but I really liked the progression of Thorin finally officially accepting Bilbo into his company, of realizing that this hobbit has more courage and loyalty than he ever realized. I liked the pacing of it throughout the movie, and how the payoff was worth it at the end with the hug.

As for the rest of it, I was in complete awe. From the performances of the actors to the scenery and the music and everything, just, ah! I'm going to be writing an actual review on my thoughts on how much in awe I was with revisiting Middle Earth again. :D :D :D

First off, sorry for the late reply! This comment got lost in the depths of my inbox.

And secondly - yeah. I fell hard for Thorin, too (I'm also incredibly fond of Balin, Ori and Bofur, and Fili and Kili are absolutely adorable ♥), and every time I see the movie or read a fic, I just end up falling even harder. As for the process of Thorin finally accepting Bilbo into the community - oh, god, I know. So wonderful. And it really was all worth it at the end with that hug.

From the performances of the actors to the scenery and the music and everything, just, ah!

My thoughts exactly. ♥

OH, I know! There was so much to love about that movie and Thorin was certainly one of them.

Richard Armitage was the best casting choice for the role, tbh.

It also helps that he's a huge adorable dork irl and that he really engaged himself in this role for the movie. Just seeing the interviews and behind the scene stuff makes me love him more and more. ♥
