Doctor Who Prequel: Pond Life Webseries

Pond Life is the new mini-adventure featuring the Doctor, Amy, Rory and some surprise familiar faces! It picks up the story of the Ponds and follows their lives in the way that only Doctor Who can, culminating in a cliff-hanger that leads us into Asylum of the Daleks. (source)

The fifth and final episode of the webseries will be available tomorrow.

First off, these are just adorably hilarious, showing what kind of shenanigans the Doctor being involved in your life can lead to, including him randomly barging into your bedroom in an unexpected and yet unsurprising fashion, leaving rambling updates on your answering machine, and having an escaped Ood at your house. Nothing is ever dull in your life again once the Doctor has entered into your life, and only Amy and Rory can have those expressions on their faces when dealing with these wacky things, especially Rory, lol.

The Doctor Who seventh series premieres this Saturday, September 1st. Can't believe it's almost here!

Gah, this is why the Ponds leaving is going to kill me. There's never been a companion who's been as *involved* with the Doctor long term. He's been in an out of the Ponds' lives for so long. He leaves them and then he comes back. So for there to be a Final Thing just makes me sad in a way him leaving the other companions didn't.

I know what you mean. The Doctor has been with Amy and Rory ever since their childhood, they grew up with the knowledge of him, and they've grown up being with the Doctor and sharing all these adventures. They are family. To have that family no longer be there is gonna hurt like a motherfucker. ;__;

I mean, when you take into account the nature of the Ponds and the Doctor, their dynamic is very different from other companions. As I said, family. They are literally in-laws to the Doctor because he is married to River Song, who is their daughter. This kind of connection is very unique in the 'verse of DW, and just to have them depart from the show and his life completely makes my heart ache because, family. Something to ground the Doctor because he needs that kind of grounding in his existence, something that Amy and Rory have been able to provide to him.

I don't know, I'm rambling. But it makes me think of, when can things just be happy for the Doctor? Why can't there just be a family and a home he could retreat and return to, one that always is welcoming to him (a la the Christmas episode where Amy and Rory have a place at the table for him, because they always do every year just in case, because to them he is family and they love him.)

Let's just relive the happy moments with the Doctor and the Ponds, because that is what their whole relationship has been for me. ♥

This is what gets me: how are they going to do it? Especially what I'm wondering is how will River still stay around when the rest of her family doesn't? Because you know whatever is going to go down on the Fields of Whatever when the question is asked has to happen at the end of the season, because she still doesn't know his name yet. At any rate, I assume we'll see River after the Ponds have made their exit. So I'm just wondering what would have to happen to make the Doctor not check in on his family ever again.

You know, I keep going back to the scene in "A Good Man Goes To War" when River sees Rory when she returns to her prison cell. Her expression once realizing who it is is almost like she hasn't seen him in a long time. For someone who time travels, esp since this was an older River, you'd think she would have at least crossed paths with him even if he didn't know who she was yet, but this seemed completely different. I mean, I don't know if it was intentionally foreshadowed or it was just something that made sense in that moment (the connection of River knowing Rory in a way that would be revealed later in the episode), but with everything that is going down in S7 it makes more sense that an older River would be shocked and happy to see her father appear before her after such a long time.

But really, I have no idea what will happen with River after that. All I know is that it will be heartbreaking and devastating when the Ponds leave, and how they will make their departure is something many of us are dreading because of the level of heartache that will happen. :(
