New Series, New Companion.
Mar. 21st, 2012 11:46 amJenna-Louise Coleman has been announced to become the next Companion for Doctor Who Series 7
I was quite afraid of looking when it started circulating on Tumblr this morning because some people in fandom can be incredibly immature and even cruel when it comes to new Companions taking place of the previous Companion. But after seeing pictures of the actress and watching this recently released interview with her talking about this announcement, I kind of fell in love a bit. I already am loving her, I think she's adorable and precious and I think she's going to do just fine. For anyone who hasn't watched that interview, do so now, because so many have been sold on her by just watching that video alone.
I will miss Amy and Rory terribly, they have been my favorite Companions on the show by far. ♥ But I am curious as to who Jenna-Louise will be playing, her role in connection with the Doctor and what, as they are indicating, will be the big mystery that will entail with her.
My prediction: perhaps it has something to do with the First Question, the biggest mystery following him around for the last two series now, something that Moffat has been building up to something much larger for the Doctor to face. It's the only thing I can think of at the moment.

Date: 2012-03-21 07:01 pm (UTC)i have so many conflicting feelings about all of this. i do think coleman will be amazing and i'm really looking forward to seeing what kind of character she'll be playing, but but but amy! rory! :( :( :( :( :( :( how can i go on without my favourite ponds? i just know it'll break my heart to see them go (and especially with that bit where moffat says someone'll die augh) and i'll sob about it forever and ever and idk idk idk.
amy & rory are my absolute favourites, and i really don't want to see them leave the show, but if it has to be done, at least we get someone as promising as coleman to play the next companion!

Date: 2012-03-23 11:24 pm (UTC)But I also know that Moffat introduced us to the "everybody lives" aspect within the show, and if anything I still am holding hope that he'll remain true to that even if he has to write the Ponds out of the show for good. Like I mentioned in my theories on their possible fates (http://rogueslayer452.livejournal.com/534995.html), this is my only way of accepting their end.

Date: 2012-03-23 11:38 pm (UTC)This makes me think of the Christmas special of the Doctor going to see Amy and Rory (his in-laws, lol) and him with the ~happy crying~ at finally having a family to go to, people who set a place for him, who always welcomes him into their home, their lives, because they are family. And just realizing it's going to all end ugh, it breaks my heart. My only question is how involved will River be in Series 7? Her role in the last two were obvious, but how much of her role will she have in this upcoming one? Will he take River to the Singing Towers before or after the departure of Amy and Rory? This is literally going to pain me just thinking about it, tbh.
I JUST DON'T WANT THIS LITTLE FAMILY TO LEAVE! But it's inevitable, with this show being about change and all. But it doesn't mean I have to like it.
