I am so in love with Doctor Who right now, you guys have no idea.

Like okay, first let me explain. I was first introduced to DW with the Ninth Doctor, and since then I've been watching episodes, kind of sporadically but still enjoying it nonetheless. I go back and forth with certain fandoms so I sort of left DW alone for a while but still liked episodes that I managed to catch. But come Matt Smith and the Eleventh Doctor, I AM SO IN LOVE WITH THE SHOW. I LOVE EVERYTHING FROM THE CHARACTERS (AMY, RORY, RIVER AND THE DOCTOR) TO THE WIBBLY WOBBLY TIMEY WIMEY AND SPACEY WACEY-NESS OF IT ALL. JUST MARATHONED BOTH SERIES FIVE AND SERIES SIX AND THEY WERE BOTH AMAZING AND OMG I CAN'T WAIT FOR THE CHRISTMAS SPECIAL AND SERIES SEVEN.

ALSO. MATT SMITH IS ADORKABLE. AS IS KAREN GILLAN.

THIS HAS BEEN A DOCTOR WHO SQUEE POST. IF YOU WATCH PLEASE SQUEE WITH ME BECAUSE ASKDFJ;ALSFJD;LASFKD SHOWWWWW!

To be fair, in my opinion you can start watching series five and six without even have watched the previous ones since it kind of starts off anew, in a way. All there is to know is that the Doctor is just a madman with a box who starts his new adventure after regenerating. There's actually a little bit of a split amongst the DW fandom about whether RTD's run of DW is better than Moffat's current run (which happens to be S5 and S6) so it's up to personal interpretation of that.

(I'm also saying this because I haven't really watched all of Tennant's episodes -- I have enjoyed the show before but what made me LOVE it was with Moffat and Matt Smith as the Doctor, because it's the kinds of stories interweaving with a serialized mystery arc that I love in my shows)

Oh, and without spoiling anything for you I will say this: I never really shipped the Doctor and never understood the shipping wars (or hating of the companions, since I adore them all equally as well). But in S5 and S6 there is something of a ~profound bond~ between the Doctor and another that is quite beyond anything else.

I might try that. Because while I love Martha, 10 isn't doing it for me the same way 9 did. Season 2 was good because Rose was still there and there was more continuity with season 1. But I love 9 so much more than I do 10. Maybe I'll love 11 too.

It is weird because I really, really love Tennant. Bu5 while 10 is awesome, 9 and season 1 are still my favorite. I wonder how 9 and Martha would have gotten along.

I think part of my...non-love for 10 is that everyone hyped him up as 'OMG, BEST DOCTOR EVER!!!' and...yeah...I just didn't feel that way about him. I think the first season had some problems but I overlooked most of that because I really liked 9.

And it definitely would've been interesting to see 9 with another companion. I mean, Mickey + Jack were there for a bit but I would've liked to see how 9 worked with a different full-time companion. I think he would've gotten on well with Martha but then again, I find it hard to imagine that anyone WOULDN'T get along with Martha :)

I think Nine is vastly overlooked in general, which is sad because he was my introduction to the series in the first place. It's sad that almost nobody gives Nine the credit he deserves. Ten is great, Tennant did a lovely job, but yeah people have over-hyped him and praise him for being omgwowtheonlybestDoctahevah!1 to such obnoxious levels, so that was quite a turn-off. Never mind that his Doctor got a bit too angsty in places for my tastes.

I wished Eccleston stuck around a little longer, because I would also have loved to see him interact with other companions as well. *sigh*

THIS. Just...Especially in the specials between series 4 + 5. So much ~angst and, tbh, it got a bid old toward the end.

I loved Eccleston's take on the Doctor and I would've loved to have seen how his Doctor grew over time :(

I heard someone say that RTD just broke the Doctor on many levels towards the end, but Moffat was the one who repaired him. I think that's interesting and, imo, very true. Because while Eleven has his share of angst, it wasn't as overwhelming as it was with Ten and is often balanced with optimism and hope.

(another thing is how upbeat Eleven's theme is (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I80pc9jZ_t8), every time it plays in an episode I get ridiculously happy)
