"Falling Skies" Preview

Yes, this is another post-apocalyptic show, however I think it looks rather interesting, personally speaking. Since the unfortunate cancellation of V, this looks to be a nice substitute to fill that void of an alien invasion summer drama. Granted I know that trailers can sometimes be misleading, though I think anything that takes a look at humanity the way this advertises it will is worth looking into. Plus, it's a series produced by Steven Spielberg. I definitely say it's worth taking a chance at.

It premieres June 19th on TNT, so it's just around the corner.

I'm looking forward to this. But every time I look forward to a new sci-fi show it either a)sucks or b) gets cancelled after a few episodes. Sooo... maybe I should pretend to hate this and it'll be great and last 10 seasons. :/

Heh, yeah. It's the unfortunate thing because whenever I get my hopes up for a new show it goes for either of those options, and it just sucks because there are some pretty damn awesome shows that always get sidelined and ignored while the crappier ones always get the 10+ seasons. It just makes me wish I could work in those offices so the decision-making about all of that.

(which I know is more complicated than it appears to be, but it's a nice thought to have if, say, the cool peeps in fandom came out with our own network and we made all these creative decisions about getting the rejected pilots or prematurely canceled shows back on the air -- yep, that is my fantasy)

I need to see a few episodes of this when it premieres to make a final judgment call, however I love that scifi is getting more recognized in general.

This looks good, and I hadn't seen the preview before this so thanks! There are so many shows that look good coming out, it stinks knowing that quite a few of them are probably not going to make it XD

I know what you mean. I am looking forward to a few new shows, however some of them look too good for the networks they're on that I fear they will be dropped, as well. It's the curse about new shows, they have to sell it and if they don't immediately from their premieres they are already in danger.

Seeing as this is a summer show it's not up against the bigger runner-ups like the fall season shows usually are. But still, I'm hoping it gets enough of a run-through to see how it does.

ikr? I still watch knowing it'll most likely be canceled XD Which stinks because there are some shows that needed to be canceled for a while that stick around and it's like seriously? It may have a better chance over the summer though, so it can't suddenly disappear for some other show returning from hiatus lol.

This has been on my MUST WATCH list for months it seems like it. It must be the aliens that are drawing me to it. I'm in. It's been marked on my calendar.

For me it's about the human survival aspect in a post-apocalyptic world which is what's attracting me, however those aliens? They look extra creepy just from the quick flash we see of them in the trailer.

It looks interesting. I like the ones where the aliens aren't pretending to be nice guys lol I guess I just see too much of the nice!aliens-turn-bad shows.

Is it bad I already want a crossover with the Librarian, though? haha

While I do like the concepts of "aliens playing nice to get what they want", sometimes you just need the aspect of them being straightforward and getting to the point of just taking over. Perhaps we'll see some bad!aliens-turning-good, which is something I'm more used to.

Interesting trailer. I'll definitely be taking a look at that one. And I didn't know V got cancelled. I enjoyed that show but wasn't an avid follower.

I had my suspicions when they shortened their second season down several episodes. I mostly watched for Morena Baccarin and Elizabeth Mitchell, to be honest. But it survived two seasons, which some people were concerned it wouldn't even last one. However they left it on a cliffhanger, so that kind of sucks.

Oooh! My dad told me about this show. It looks promising. Kind of surprised it's on TNT though. I'm hoping that means it's going to be as good as their other shows... and not get cancelled so quickly like other sci-fi shows like V.

Considering that TNT is the "we know drama" network, I suspect this is going to be more about the characters than anything else, which is always good, especially when you have something like a post-alien apocalypse.
