Date: 2011-05-09 10:13 pm (UTC)Frankly I've forgotten half of what has happened ealier this season, not sure if that's by choice or just because it was underwhelming, so some of the inconsistencies in how Dean has been treating Cas didn't worry me so much. All the trust and faith in the last two epsiodes is how he should have been treating Cas all season. I get some of the frustration between them and that Cas was hiding so much which was hanging between them, but yeah the writers just didn't pull it off all that well earlier in the season.
I adored Dean and Cas' 'breakup' in the green room back in season 4, and this episode just took that further. It was heartbreaking, everything it should have been. I'm still hopeful that Dean will end up helping Cas. He said he would do whatever he had to, there are a number of ways to stop Cas so that line doesn't necessarily mean that he will literally be against Cas.
I loved the episode, it has been swimming around in my head since I saw it, and its not often an episode has that much impact. Awesome review.
