As an observation, why haven't the girls set up any kind of recording device to capture evidence?

It would seem rather convenient considering how often they come in contact those who intentionally want to hurt them, like Ian for example. He verbally threatened Spencer several times and even if he was speaking around in cryptic tones it was enough to warrant some suspicion. Last night when they were overhearing the confrontation between Ian and Spencer from the church, while it was a regular phone call could it have been possible to record the message once realizing what was going on, especially when he was confessing that he was there the night Alison had disappeared? Before I could understand them not wanting to do something, but it's exceeded further than just anonymous text messages about their secrets and into life or death territory and even incriminating situations that you'd think it would have crossed their minds to be extra careful or at least be prepared for the unexpected to happen.

Perhaps I've seen far too much crime dramas and mysteries, but it's ridiculous that this far into everything that's happened they haven't upped their game. I know it's scary when you have no clue who is watching you, and if they have more than one person involved with spying on them. But I want the girls to win, to get ahead of the game and outsmart whoever is doing this to them. It's time to Veronica Mars it up, yo.

I also want to read the books, or attempt to because I've heard it's a mixed bag depending on your type of reading material. Also the fact that the show is significantly different from the books, but that's to be expected as most onscreen adaptations take on a life of their own. I just don't want to discover secrets too early without seeing it on screen first, if that makes sense. If anyone has read the books, let me know if the first one is safe to read considering where we are in the show.

It is absolutely safe to read. In fact, the first three books are given that events there only take us up to the first half of season 1 (give or take).

Alrighty, thank you! :D I just want to test the waters and see whether I end up liking them or not, or just stick with the tv show.

You can definitely read the books without discovering secrets too soon. I've read the first three and I don't think we covered anything that happened after the mid-season hiatus. From what I've heard, the show has changed enough that I'm not too worried about learning something from the books that will be coming on the show.

Ah thanks, that's good to hear. I just want to whether or not the books are worth reading and if any mysteries that are left unanswered on the show are revealed too soon in the books. But I know that there are differences and changes they did, so it'll be interesting to compare and such.

The books diverge thoroughly very early on. I really doubt you'll be spoiled for anything.

For what it's worth, I found the books to be like crack. Cringe-worthy in some respects, but I also could NOT put them down.

Okay, I love the show but...
THEY HAVE BEEN SO STUPID ABOUT SO MUCH STUFF.
I just try not to think about it or I wouldn't be able to watch it which would be sad because I love it.

Yeah, I would like them to at least outsmart A for once, and be smart about it. I'm surprised that after everything they still haven't done something that Veronica Mars would do, which is get hardcore evidence and not wait before handing that evidence in.
