I'm so worried over these news that I can't even ;_; I have never met an actor who'd fit with my mental image of Aziraphale or Crowley- I love Mark Sheppard and his Crowley, but just.

GO is one of my top-favourite books of all time, DNW to see it ruined :'C here's a thumbs up!

I think I would explode with happiness if Mark Sheppard were to play GO's Crowley, but I understand what you're saying. Sometimes there isn't any actor that really fits your perception of a book character that you love and no matter what nobody is going to fit that description in your head.

HOWEVER, I JUST WANNA SEE WHERE THIS GOES! Particularly if it's going to be done like how Hogfather was done, and if Pratchett and Gaiman are in the decision-making process of the project, I'm looking forward to seeing how it goes. :D

Yeah. :( I mean, I've seen a lot of these ~dream-cast~things around the internet and there's absolutely no one who I think would fit my headcanon of Aziraphale and Crowley. I hope they do a good job with the casting, so that even if I don't agree with how those chosen actors look, their acting will convince me.

Oh, I am excited, but also very worried. It helps to ease some of that worry to know that the writers are probably (?) gonna be a part of the decision-making.

I hope it gets treated well, because it is the most highly beloved book I would hate to see it ruined by this news. BUT I AM JUST SO EXCITED!

If I couldn't have my head!canon Crowley then I honestly would be happy with Mark Sheppard.

For serious now. Mark Sheppard would be fucking fantastic. ;)

I am cautiously optimistic. If Pratchett and Gaiman are involved, and if it's made like the other Pratchett movies/miniseries were (UK cast, faithful to the source), that'll be reassuring. I'm just wary of it falling into the Hitch-hiker's Guide trap, where it gets twisted all out of shape to fit into American movie tropes.

But still...it could be awesome. Especially if Mark Sheppard's in it. :D

It's understandable to be treading on cautious ground, many fans are. Though considering that it looks to become a miniseries based on the announcement, I'm looking to be more optimistic than if it got handed over to other movie-makers.

I cannot picture anyone else as Crowley but Mark Sheppard. ;)

I HAVE NO IDEA HOW TO FEEL ABOUT THIS D: It is either going to be really, really good or absolutely horrible like Coraline /sobs!

That being said, I really, really, really want Natalie Dormer to play Anathema. She is Anathema.

Considering that it'll probably be a televised miniseries, there is some hope that it'll get treated well, especially if it follows along the lines of whoever did Hogfather. \O/

AND OMG NATALIE DORMER YESSSSS. :D

HOGFATHER! I re-watched that a few days ago, so amazing! I hope they'd be able to get Marc Warren into GO if it's the same people, because he is so delightfully good at being creepy when need be!

RIGHT? ISN'T SHE JUST PERFECT.

Hmm...oh lawd, watch me make up a dream cast in my head now :D

OMG Natalie Dormer would be PERFECT. I hadn't thought about it, and now I will not be able to unthink it!

/FLAILS.

I kind of want to start a campaign or something for her to be cast! I have no idea how to go about doing this though, lol!

I am equal parts squeeful and oh noooeeesss!!! Good Omens is my longtime favorite book and I'm super protective of it. So it's hard for me to think that it can be done justice.

I think it's a mutual kind of squeeful apprehensiveness everywhere, bb. I also want it to be incredibly faithful to be book and I can only hope that Gaiman and Pratchett are behind the decision-making process of this. *crosses fingers*

I CANNOT SEE ANYONE ELSE BUT HIM AT THIS POINT, FOR SERIOUS. ;D ;D ;D

It all depends on the actors chosen and the how true they are to the source. This could be really good or really awful!

Like with all adaptations of original works. I'm crossing my fingers that this gets treated well because, dammit, I would love a faithful or close-to-the-material adaptation of the book. That would be so motherfucking awesome. :D

I LIKE TO BE HOPELESSLY OPTIMISTIC. IF MARK SHEPPARD GOT A GUEST-SPOT ROLE IN DOCTOR WHO RIGHT AFTER SAYING HE WOULD LIKE TO BE IN THAT SHOW, WHY NOT APPEAR AS CROWLEY IN GOOD OMENS? ANYTHING IS POSSIBLE, BB. ;D

Date: 2011-02-08 08:02 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] cheerful-earl.livejournal.com
I hope it's good. It's one of my favorite books. But you know what? I'm gonna give up the skepticism for now and just say HELL YEAH GOOD OMENS MOVIE/SHOW. <3333

Mark Sheppard would rock. I just... love him.

I can understand where the skepticism and wariness comes from, but when I read this I was all \O/\O/\O/\O/ because seriously? How awesome is this? :D And Mark Sheppard would totally just rock the role, no doubt. That is my dream casting for the character right now.

I don't think I will be able to deal with anyone else as Crowley. Then again, I'm not sure I'd be able to deal with the insane, crossover mindfuck if he does play Crowley.

Or maybe I will. Either way: WHEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE *excited*
Please, please, whoever is responsible, don't mess this up.
