Day 12 - Your favorite funny scene

When Castiel was drunk in the beginning of "99 Problems", mostly because he has a bitchier attitude towards the brothers than usually and despite it being somewhat depressing knowing the reasons why he got drunk in the first place it was still kind of hilarious and entertaining watching him because we got to see him saying that he drank an entire liquor store, bitching out both Sam and Dean, attempting to make inside jokes that neither of them understood with the "it's funnier in Enochian" line. And yeah, I don't know, I just found it highly amusing.

Then again, Castiel has a lot of funny scenes because of his lack of understanding of human interaction or sarcasm, what with his constant "I don't understand that reference" and "he's not on any flatbread" one liners and all. ^_^

As for particular episodes, I adored "Tall Tales" because it demonstrated yet again the brotherly dynamic between Sam and Dean on on typical level: ridiculous sibling squabbles. It reminds me so much of my own quarrels with my sister every now and then that it just makes me laugh. Especially the one-upping of over-exaggerated storytelling, lol. I also wanna give a shoutout to "Free To Be You And Me" because of all the Dean/Castiel interactions which were adorable and funny at the same time, especially with Castiel's failed attempt to pretend to be an FBI agent. I mean, who can forget this adorable scene:



HEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!! ♥ They need Castiel on cases more often, just for moments like this. ^__^




Rest of the 30 Days of Supernatural Challenge.

Regarding the postponement of the new episode of Supernatural...I'm strangely not bothered by it, in all honesty. Perhaps it's my disconnected feeling I have towards the show talking, idk. I can understand the mass confusion about the questionable decision to abruptly change the schedule the day before the episode supposedly was going to air, particularly after all the spoiler clips and reviews arising. But fandom's collective uproar has me scratching my head. Then again, I've been desensitized to this because some of my shows have had prolonged midseason hiatuses, one was preempted and rescheduled several times for almost a year before it returned.

So really, one week of waiting is hardly in comparison to that, imo. /kanyeshrug

I don't get the uproar either, but I was disappointed and annoyed when I read the news this morning. I was looking forward to a new episode this week. I miss my angel.
Also, postponing an episode the day before it was supposed to air, you have to admit that is a little weird, even for the CW.

Same here. Quite a few people on my f-list seem really angry about it but I can't really be bothered. I guess I just lost so much interest in Supernatural in general.

Personally, I found the news absolutely aggravating and unneeded. I have enough crap in my fucking life already, what a way to ruin my weekend. I can see why the uproar, I can see why some wouldn't be bothered by it. It depends on what you think of the show, honestly. As for me, it's one of those things that have kept me going for the past few months and I was really looking forward to an apparently good episode. The move was very uncalled for.

Not to mention CW treats SPN like shit all the time and this kind of favoritism (I have nothing against TVD or Nikita, in fact, I'm downloading the first ep of Nikita right now. It's not their fault) is just icing on the cake. I'm extremely disappointed.

It really was a shitty move, the fact they've been prepping for the episode with spoilers and clips, and yet they suddenly pushed it back for some excuse. I'm honestly not buying that excuse, considering that everything is reruns today anyway.

I have nothing against TVD or Nikita, in fact, I'm downloading the first ep of Nikita right now. It's not their fault

I've seen some people hate on these shows, Nikita especially since it took over the usual timeslot on Thursdays so this move puts salt on those wounds, but I think people like scapegoating their anger all over the place. The network, the shows, the timing, everything. I just think while it's a crappy situation that happened, people need to step back and chillax. Just another week.

Yeah, I've calmed down, but it certainly didn't help raise my mood.

People always need someone or something to blame, but the sanest thing to do would be blaming the network, because they did it for an incredibly crappy reason. I hate that Supernatural is pushed back and stomped on, just because it's not as popular like the more mainstream-shows. I'd say people are more angry because they decided to pull this a day before the supposed airing date, not necessarily the extra-week we have to wait now.

I actually thought it was a joke at first when Jim Beaver tweeted about it but he put it in such an amusing way so I didn't take it seriously. XD

TBH, Caprica got worse than what SPN got. At least SPN has an extra week hiatus while Caprica's was, what, five months? Six? That was longer. Although I do find it rather shitty of CW to pull that due to 'competition from American Idol'.

The CW has often treated SPN like a second-class stepchild, so that really was a crappy move to make so abruptly.

But nothing beats out how Syfy treated Caprica, the prolonged midseason hiatus pretty much said a lot about how the network lacked any kind of support for it. It definitely went on for months, and hell they did that with BSG too. Unnecessary long hiatuses. Networks basically suck hugely when they pull shit like this.

I guess I'm not too bothered by it. We've waited so long for it. What's another week? I've been looking forward to the return since December. But what annoys me are the reasons behind the postponement. 'Competition from Idol' and to re-air last night's shows. I thought we weren't worried about ratings and SPN was performing well on Friday? I don't understand and I was aggravated at first but I think I'm getting over it.

Well I read somewhere where Dawn Ostroff (probably spelled that wrong. Meh.) said she wouldn't be shocked if Supernatural came back next season because it's 'doing well in its timeslot'. I don't know if that's true or if she's just saying that to make us think we're doing well and not worry. Idk. *shrug*

Meh. Dawn Ostroff enjoys bullshitting things like that, since she never really was behind the show before and doesn't understand the fanbase. She just says it because the show is supposedly still on contract for a seventh season (why I don't know, should have ended last season but I digress).

Thank God she's leaving the CW though, because I'm tired of her bullshit.

Castiel being drunk was one of the most hilarious things ever. I remember when the spoilers for "Castiel drunk off his ass" broke, and we were half terrified that it was going to be awful and just for comedic relief. But it was wonderful! THAT is how you use characterization FOR the joke, instead of sacrificing characterization for the sake of the joke.

And Castiel, aside from showing his FBI badge upside down, just LOOKS like a fed, don't you think. No nonsense, all business. He'd just stare at you until you broke down and confessed.

As for no SPN tonight, I'm decidedly meh about it. I might even be relieved. That just means I can enjoy my happy fandom place for a while longer before they screw something else up. While show isn't on, fandom is mostly reading fic for me. When it is on, it's all episode reactions and speculation. Which is great if you're thrilled with everything, but...I'm not.

I was the same way, knowing the show's history something disastrous could have happened to really ruined his characterization. And yet it made perfect sense because after the previous episode, of course Castiel would go on a bender by drinking an entire liquor store and wallow in his own daddy issues. That made for excellent development and continuity for what was happening on his end. Funny and sad at the same time, and overall handled very well.

lol, so very true. In fact I always kind of pictured him fitting right into that kind of role since I have always associated the black businessman suit and tie with a trenchcoat to be very detective-like. From NYPD Blue to Seeley Booth on Bones, it fits. All Castiel would need is a fedora and he would be perfect in the classic noir detective style, with his deadpan stare and gruff talk. ;)

Heh, same here. With how annoyed I've been feeling about the Shown lately it's kind of a relief not having it be on for another week. With all this talk and spoilers and stuff, I just need a breather. Which is good because I have all my other fandoms to enjoy. :)

I had been looking forward to the new episode all week, so I'm a bit dissapointed that it's been pushed back. But some people are acting like the world is ending, it just got pushed back, and it's not even in a LOL IT'S COMING BACK IN JULY kind of way lol.

Though I do understand people's frustrations with the network in general, seeing as how they rarely treated the show with the same respect they do their other shows (lacking in promotion, etc) so I feel people who think this is just pouring salt on the wound.

I know, it's nothing like Reunion(which was on a different channel). It would air one week, have no preview, and then be gone for a couple of weeks. Air another episode unannounced(I had to check every week to see if it would be on since it would just come and go), and then go off for another two/three weeks. A one week announced pushback isn't so bad compared to random never announced push backs with no announcement for it's return.

I'm sure other shows have had the same treatment, so one week isn't really that bad. It's not like it was canceled and pulled off the air to be released on DVD like other shows. I understand disappointment, but not outrage over it lol.

I feel the same way about the postponement. And I honestly found a lot of the behavior by fandom to be over the top. Calling and immaturely bitching out and screaming like a banshee at the network? People who are also fans of Nikita and Vampire Diaries refusing to watch those shows anymore as some sort of seeming revenge? I understand being upset and annoyed, but c'mon. Like someone posted on Twitter yesterday, imagine if all those people had put that energy into doing something good like making a call to your local government, doing a charitable act, ect.

I mean it was postponed a week. It's not the big season finale or anything. It wasn't yanked from the schedule indefinately. It wasn't out of the blue cancelled and yanked from the schedule. Other shows and fandoms have been in much worse positions.

I mean it's a TV SHOW. I wasn't much looking forward to the new episode after reading the extensive spoilers anyway. But even at my most rabid fangirlness, I don't think I would ever have reacted so outraged to a week's delay.

Me neither, and I agree that the collective reaction of fandom is ridiculously over the top. Just a simple "this sucks" because of the abruptness of the entire thing and perhaps brooding over how the network doesn't promote the show enough would have been fine, but there's all this raging and threatening and declaring war it's like. Dude, fandom? Take a chill pill okay? It's not the end of the world, just a mishap on the network's end. This isn't the worst thing that could have happened, far from the worst.

I think there just needed to be something to uproar about. It's about time when the meta-episode wank has been done to death, fandom needed something else to rage about. idek anymore.

Yeah, I am really confused by all the fuss. Maybe it's because I haven't actually caught up yet (still haven't even seen 6.07), maybe it's because I used to watch shows that got pre-empted almost every week so you never knew when they'd be on (hello Futurama airing right after stupid baseball games), but it's just a week, right? Maybe if you had planned a big party or if you're counting on it to rescue a terrible week, but I feel like neither of those applies to 90% of the people who are bitching....IDK, I don't understand either.

I get the frustration over the sudden change, but I've seen many people so outright angry that it's like whoa, dudes, just chillax. While unexpected it's not something to lose your head over. I know that for some people, ranting online is the best way of letting out frustrations and perhaps that's what's happening, but in all honesty I don't see why the hostility just for a random, yet questionable, move by the network. Not only his is social ineptness hilarious at the appropriate times, but it's also endearing. It's just so him to not understand the concept of personal space or just basic human behavior and interaction, it shows how alien he is to our species. I love that about him, and I love it when the show gets it right and they do, for the most part anyway.

Fandom exploding is somewhat baffling, and hilarious. Had the show been postponed several weeks to a month then I would understand the outrage, but they just rescheduled for next week. That's nothing, in my opinion. In terms of the network being unfair to the show, that's never gonna change no matter what. It's typical network behavior in general. I'm used to it, unfortunately.

It's sad to say I'm feeling the same way. Maybe if I had more confidence with the show then I would be more upset, but I'm not. I don't know if I should feel guilty about not caring but, oh well.

There's a huge amounts of immaturity. It's one thing to be upset and disappointed because of the way the network handled it, it's another to completely act like childish idiots and start declaring wars on other shows they (the network) are rerunning tonight as if they are the cause of everything. Nikita especially because it took place of SPN's Thursday night timeslot, which is completely ridiculous. But batshit insanity and irrationality is what this fandom does best.
