I think I really need to watch this. I started it and stopped because it's not the original, I loved the original! See, I'm usually okay with remakes, but I could not do it here and I feel like I neeeeeed to get OVER it. :(

Girl, you definitely need to get over it. For reals.

Though in all fairness, I can understand the hesitation. But what you have to realize is that this Nikita is based off the original film, not the original series based off of that. So really, it's a recreation from the original source the first original series was also based on. So, I don't think you need to feel guilty or anything. If nothing else, treat it like two separate things because this Nikita? Is totally worth the watch because it adds its own flavor to the mix, which I'm loving a whole lot.

Nikita must be based off the USA show, at least partially. The plot is totally different, but they gave a lot of the characters the same names as in the USA show- Nikita herself, of course, but that originates with Luc Besson; Birkhoff, who wasn't in the movie IIRC; and MICHAEL, who was my favorite of favoritest characters. He had a fascimile in the movie, but to use the names specifically from the show was SO jarring. If they had done something with just Nikita, and had switched the names around, I would have honestly been fine with it (I was totally able to separate the movie from the show, both of which I like a lot). It's just... Michael and Nikita have this HUGE place in my heart, with their epic romance from the original show and their individual awesomeness, so being like "Here! Same names, same-ish organization, totally different characters" threw me SO much.

But yeah, I want to get over it.

Okay, well that makes sense. However, I think what they're trying to do is combine all the Nikitas and mold the story into their own version. It's the same setup, perhaps with similar names (a la like with BSG for example, some have the same names and it same plot but different way of storytelling and direction) and just using this for a completely updated version of. Does that make sense?

Honestly, I understand how you're feeling. But trust me, once you see this new Nikita, I think you're gonna like it. :)
