Day 11 - Your favorite quote
"I'll tell you who else had faith like that. Mom. She used to tell me when she tucked me in that angels were watching over us. In fact, that was the last thing she ever said to me. [...] Well, what's to tell? She was wrong. There was nothing protecting her. There's no higher power, there's no God. I mean, there's just chaos, and violence, and random unpredictable evil that comes out of nowhere and rips you to shreds. You want me to believe in this stuff? I'm going to need to see some hard proof. You got any?"
Now there are lots of quotes I have liked over the seasons, from one-liners to long speeches, however this particular speech Dean makes in the S2 episode "Houses of the Holy" is incredibly heartfelt from where he comes from and what he believes in, or doesn't believe in, at the time. Which is understandable. Having grown up with all this hardcore reality at such a young age, seeing so much death and destruction and chaos, with no rhyme or reason to it, of course Dean would be more cynical than his brother in terms of having faith in a higher power.

But then lo and behold, his hard proof arrives two years later wearing a trenchcoat who saves his ass by raising him from perdition.... ;)

I think the concept of questioning faith, of understanding where Sam and Dean come from on their stances of belief, how they continue on with the lives they lead, is very interesting. It gives a taste of what some hunters go through. And Dean saying those words really hits home for many people I think.
