Because seriously, we haven't had much time with the way Heaven or the other angels operate and with Castiel-centric kinds of episodes aside from that one in the fourth season. I didn't think this season could win in the ways that it has been winning and then I get this. Sera gamble should have written season five IMO. Less dead women and minorities, Lisa and Bobby being fleshed out; Dean confronting Sam and Dean/Cas OTP moments. I hope it keeps up. I really couldn't stand season five so I hope we get some answers for sweeps.

Well, I had a nice long comment written out, but LJ ate it.

Basically, I'M TORN. ON THE ONE HAND, CAAAAAAAAAAAS AND DEEEEEEEEAN. On the other, it makes me :( that Castiel didn't get back to Dean for days. I know he's crazy busy in Heaven, but I just want them to be clooooose like they were last season. And Dean shouldn't expect Cas to appear every time he calls; the Winchesters aren't the ground zero of angelic importance anymore. But at the same time, if Castiel can search an entire town in two seconds, how hard is it to tell Dean that he can't help with something and then leave, instead of radio silence for days (or a year, in Sam's case)? IDK, it's just a little thing that bugs me. I see what the spoilers meant about a reset Castiel. I am wondering where they're ultimately going with him, but for an angel that was damn close to human, well, I just hope that development didn't go down the drain. Harshing the squee, I know.

IT'S LIKE EVERYTHING I EVER WANTED FROM AN ANGSTY LITTLE THING BETWEEN THEM. IT DOES READ LIKE A SCENE FROM AN EPIC DEAN/CAS FANFIC (and not the bad!fic that some of the episodes have felt like lately...) AND JUST, OMG.

I still harbor dislike for Sera Gamble for many reasons, and she's the reason why I'm still incredibly wary of this season overall. Surely there's less of the women and minorities dying or just being side-characters, but that's what was said early last season until it happened again. Gamble is still the weakest of all the writers, in my opinion. I feel like she doesn't quite "get" the story that is being told and only wants what she wants from certain characters and not a balance of everything like the few writers on the staff do. I've said this before, but I would have preferred Jeremy Carver or Ben Edlund on taking over writing for the show because I feel like they understand it, unlike Gamble does. And about Lisa....there was nothing amounting to her character from what I've seen of the show, and from what I used to like about her has dwindled significantly since they brought her back because of how she was written as, sry2say. :/

There are things I've loved like having Castiel for most of 6.03 and the Bobby-centric episode, the angel/Heaven mytharc expanding a bit and the Dean/Castiel moments (profound bond, hee!) however I'm still not convinced that I should like this season because it's all scattered and a mess so far. Hopefully they can get their act together.

But that's just how I feel.

No but seriously, I understand what you mean. There's definitely something underneath the layers of whatever Castiel is dealing with and either he cannot mention it because he doesn't want Dean to be involved with whatever he's dealing with or that Castiel is in a position where he has to not tell Dean the entirety of what is happening and it's making him utterly conflicted. I honestly think that if he does know something he definitely wants to help, because this is his Dean and he doesn't want their bond to be broken, but has to do it concretely due to whatever is happening upstairs. This angel civil war has really done something to him where he has to do, as he said, "regrettable things" and it makes me wonder what regrettable things.

I see what the spoilers meant about a reset Castiel. I am wondering where they're ultimately going with him, but for an angel that was damn close to human, well, I just hope that development didn't go down the drain.

I'm hoping that's not that case because the only reset I see is Castiel not telling Dean the entire story whereas last season, when he had nothing to lose, he was willing to spill out everything and unleash his anger and frustration. Now he's completely torn on what to do because it seems like the responsibility falls onto him for whatever might happen, good or bad. And really, that development didn't go down that drain because look at his behavior in the clip. There's definitely human mannerisms he's portraying unlike from before when we were first introduced to him. Hence why he's being conflicted, he knows where his duty lies right now but he wants to help out his friend.

So, to make this not entirely longer than it already is, I'm definitely concerned but not entirely worried over what this means. It actually makes me curious about what is happening on the Heaven side of things and what Castiel is dealing with.

I have always found the show to be scattered and messy; hence my love-hate relationship with them. Season five was the worst, after ep 4x10 0f season four until ep 4x16 was pretty bad too so you are correct; the show tends to fall apart pretty easily. Maybe now because I am not fannish about the show, I just enjoy it; mostly as a show I want to watch on box-set I ignore the flaws. I honestly don't think SPN will be a show I will ever be actively fannish about again. I find season six to be huge improvement over season five but I hated that season and barely caught 4 eps past 5x04 so that doesn't say much.
I am at the point I enjoy see J2 and Misha onscreen; anything that happens to work is gravy to me. There have been too many broken promises; i.e development Dean and Cas; the brothers together and individually that haven't been realized. Right now there are a lot of little things that work me that I mentioned but I need to see more before I get my hopes.
Mostly I am trying to be not be so down on the show like I was before. I stepped back and I watch occasionally and it makes me much happier.

I suppose that's a good way to put it. This season has been really hit or miss for me, and so far Cas has been hit, but I'm afraid he might be miss in the future.

I also wonder about the regrettable actions bit. I mean, his pivotal moment at the end of S4 was realizing that the greater good isn't worth doing *anything* for, so I just hope we're not retreading that. And I know there's a difference between following orders and being in charge, but I just hope Cas isn't going to turn into what the management of Heaven was before. I don't THINK that's what they're doing, but who knows.

I do think Castiel is being torn in different directions, and I think he really doesn't know what to do about Heaven's problems. And I think at the end of last season, he should have stayed with his boyfriend, and let Heaven sort itself out. :) Let God clean up his own mess. I do wish that Dean could help Castiel in some way, just like Castiel helped him last season.

But it's true that Castiel had nothing left to lose last season. I don't think the development went down the drain (from what we've seen so far), but I don't want a whole season of cold Cas. :(

And Re: Gabriel: I HOPE GOD BROUGHT HIM BACK AT THE END OF LAST SEASON, AND GABE WENT BACK UNDERCOVER BECAUSE HE ALREADY GOT KILLED ONCE FOR THAT SHIT, AND HE'S BEEN BACK UP TO HIS AWESOMENESS OF DOING WHATEVER THE HELL HE WANTS AND LETTING HEAVEN SORT ITS OWN WAR OUT. Though I find it ironic that Gabriel, of all people, has a Horn of Truth. I know it's in the lore, but SPN Gabriel is about as untruthful as they come, LOL. Probably why he left the horn behind when he ditched.

Also, from what Cas says in the clip, there goes fandom's theory that Sam is Lucifer. Oh well. I didn't think they would go there, but it would have been awesome.

Obviously they're trying to kill us. That's the only logical explanation.
