LOL WHAT IS THIS FAIL?

On one hand it's a new promotional photo from the CW which, they really hadn't done that for the show. They've always recycled old promo pictures which is kind of lame and lazy, so it's awesome they did a new photoshoot that added in Misha/Castiel! However, the downside this is when their wardrobe was stolen, and obviously the story was true that the wardrobe person hardly watched or was familiar with the show because CASTIEL IS NOT WEARING HIS ICONIC TRENCHCOAT AND SUIT! D: D: D: HOW HARD IS IT TO FIND A REGULAR SUIT AND A TAN TRENCHCOAT? FIRE WHOEVER DID THAT, MY GOD.

Apparently it's the same outfit seen in this interview (as the photoshoot was happening?) where he kind of gushes over the trenchcoat and his explanation kind of makes sense now with the whole stolen wardrobe story. So, there you go.

Not that he doesn't look hot, because he does. Lord, he really does. ;) But still, I can't see that as a character promo unless it's some strange AU version. All he needs is a vest and a fedora....

ALSO, WHY DOES THE PROMO LOOK LIKE SOMETHING FROM THE HEROES PROMOS? LOL!

He really does, I also have to admit. I can't ignore that because it's Misha, and he looks hot in practically anything.

I think we should treat it like a cast photoshoot instead of a character promotional thing or whatever, it would kind of get rid of the fail of THAT IS NOT CASTIEL-WEAR! I associate it with, lol.

I'm thinking we need more photoshoots of the guys in character more often. Single or together, I don't care.

It just feels weird seeing him posed as Castiel without the trenchcoat, even if they tried substituting it with something else that's not Castiel. I think even reports from the Chicon breakfast said that they were posing ridiculous magazine poses during the shoot because it wasn't IC, hehe.

Eh, I'm not saying I dislike it. I mean it would have been amazing had they actually used his trenchcoat, but it just seems off to see him in anything else. It's iconic for his character. But what can you do?

As long as he isn't shifting clothes in the actual show.

Just imagine it! This version of Castiel is from parallel universe only evil or Castiel fell as a human like Anna and when he got his Grace restored, he got this new outfit. Rebel Angel for the win! AUs rock!

I never thought they would add him either! It's always been the Winchesters, never anyone else. I'm so happy they finally decided to add him into the promos. He is a series regular, after all. :DDDD

To be fair, I don't think any of this would have happened had THOSE FUCKTARDS NOT STOLEN THE WARDROBE WHEN THEY WERE GOING TO TAKE THIS PHOTOSHOOT! Whoever they had for emergency wardrobe obviously didn't understand what Castiel wore. It breaks my heart. :(

So, like, was the wardrobe stolen when they were doing this photoshoot? Dean's jacket is gone, *epic SADFACE* but only the Cas coat that they had for the shoot is gone, right? He still has one in Vancouver for the show? Right? *epic worry* But now Jared and Misha's comments from the con about doing weird poses in weird clothes make sense. As well as Misha's comment about the weird wardrobe choice for him. So I suppose that means this shoot was *supposed* to have him in the trench coat. But yeah, even if they couldn't find a suitable coat on short notice, how hard would be to find a similar cheap looking suit? Also, I'm glad Misha gushes over the coat, since he originally seemed resigned about wearing the same damn thing every day. YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT YOU HAVE UNTIL IT'S GONE, MISHA.

I think that was the implication from what I've been reading of the story that was told. During shipping of the wardrobe to where they were going to be doing the photoshoot, somewhere in between the clothes were mysteriously stolen, so they had to find something else to substitute them with in the time of the schedule they had. Though yeah, it's not hard to find a similar beige trenchcoat. They're classics. I see them everywhere. And I mean, everywhere.

I mean, I don't mind seeing Misha in something like this (because I'm all unfff over him being in anything suit-like), but if you're going for IC photoshoots this is not the way to do them. :/

I know! I love that he seems to appreciate the trenchcoat. I often hear certain actors say that sometimes it's hard to get into character until they have the character's full outfit on. Whether it's a coat or a jacket, something that really makes the character who they are. Which judging from that photo it seems that only Jared and Jensen are in-character, whereas Misha still looks like himself, especially his facial expression. I mean hearing the stories about Jared and Misha joking around about doing those weird poses further proves that yeah, bad choice in replacement clothing.

It may seem ridiculous to spend this much time analyzing over one photoshoot like this (or other promos they did while they were there), but to me that trenchcoat is Castiel. Without it, he's not Castiel anymore. It would be like Indiana Jones without his hat, or trying to substitute it with another different-looking hat. It's not the same.

I'm definitely not complaining about him being featured alongside the boys. I'm happy they're finally acknowledging him being part of the main cast now.
