It's like he kinda knew in the back of his head that Castiel would come once he called for him. It's my personal theory that Castiel and Dean have still conversed together all this time, just through his dreams.

LOL THAT IS SAD BUT TRUE. DEAN IS THE ONLY WINCHESTER CASTIEL HAS EVER TRULY CARED ABOUT. XD Also, I still think something strange is with Sam, with whatever brought him back or he came back different, idk. But perhaps Castiel doesn't trust Sam to get involved with whatever and will only answer to his Dean. ♥

And it definitely wiped the smug smirk off Sam's face pretty good when it happened, lol!

Although it is canon that somewhere last season there seemed to be a truce or bygones be bygones kind of thing between them since Castiel did reference Sam as his friend at a point. However, Castiel definitely trusts Dean more than Sam because of all the shit that happened. I mean, think about the bond Dean and Cas created ever since the fourth season, that's more trust than he has with Sam that's for sure.
