Day 02 - A show that you wish more people were watching

Legend of the Seeker

Fantasy action/adventure drama, based on the best-selling Sword of Truth book series by Terry Goodkind, Legend of the Seeker has a combination of a fantastical plot with many enjoyable aspects to it. I define it as a mixture of Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter and Star Wars, with a little bit of Xena too, where it's just a fun and entertaining kind of show that doesn't take itself seriously and I think everyone can enjoy it. There's nothing complicated about it, as sometimes fantasy-based universes can be, and every single character is just likable and just as enjoyable as well. In fact, this is that one show where I have absolutely no complaints regarding the characters or the writing of these characters whatsoever. They are all so fascinating in their own way, and each of them get their time in the spotlight.
I recently just got into the show myself, but I can honestly say that I highly recommend it to anyone and everyone. It's just that amazing of a show. I haven't been disappointed in any episode or character or the writing. It's just such a rarity to find shows that I have absolutely no qualms about. That alone should tell you that this is worth watching.
Honestly, I could talk and gush about this show for hours and hours if I could, so I'll just simplify it for you:
Why should more people watch this show? It's a fun, lighthearted fantasy-drama with lots of action and adventure, sword-fighting sequences, a rich fantastical world with even richer characters and storyline/plots, strong women characters that kick ass and take names quite frequently, and the two main female characters are the protectors of the main male protagonist; there's magic, mystery, character development, an epic forbidden romance that is just too adorable and sexy all at the same time. The fact that the show is filmed in NEW ZEALAND which gives us this breathtaking scenery and setting for such a whimsical and magical atmosphere. From the costumes to the actors and the story, the fact that we don't have to worry about cliffhangers because they have a plan on knowing where they want to go with a season and its particular storyline is what makes me confident in saying that people will enjoy the show. Also yes, there are plenty of sexytiems in this show; they don't skimp on bringing us the hotness and the sexy and sexual innuendos. Including BDSM-like torture, the Mord'Sith agiels that look like dildos, and tons of gratuitous revealing skin shots.
There's also indirect femslash UST subtext:

Along with actual femslash within text:

It still tickles me that this was produced by Disney, heh.
Not to mention, have you seen how gorgeous it is? I mean, damn. The visuals alone can just be stunning as hell. The colors and the slow-motion action just adds to it. *____*

(note: Kahlan's hair is epic and fierce, trufax)
I definitely do recommend this show intensely. Now I say more people should start watching it is because there's also the news that it's been canceled, which is a terrible shame in and of itself, but I feel it is my duty as a newly converted fan to convert others to see just how utterly amazing LOTS truly is and join the cause to getting it renewed. Some think it's a long-shot, but for more Seeker we got to have something. We got to have faith in these things, you know? Besides. Anyone that hasn't heard or seen this show is obviously missing out.
Long story short: WATCH LEGEND OF THE SEEKER NOW BECAUSE IT IS AWESOME LIKE WHOA AND YOU WILL LOVE IT IMMEDIATELY LIKE I HAVE. IF YOU'RE TIRED OF YOUR SHOWS DISAPPOINTING YOU FEAR NOT, THIS ONE WON'T AND IT JUST IS SO FUCKING GORGEOUS WITH PRETTY PEOPLE WITH PRETTIER HAIR AND AWESOME FIGHTING AND JUST, YEAH. 'NUFF SAID. ♥
Masterlist of days here.
On a related note, I'm nervous about watching the latest episode because the finale is next weekend and I want to watch it, because it'll be epic, yet I don't because I want to preserve the amazing awesomeness the show has provided (in the short time I've come to be really addicted to it). Why oh why are my good television shows abandoning me? ;__;

Date: 2010-05-20 01:17 am (UTC)I have the latest episode downloaded but I think I'm going to wait until the finale to watch them both back-to-back, have epic Seeker watching. But yeah, I don't want those to be the last episodes I'll ever see of this show again.
BRING BACK MY SEEKER UNIVERSE! IT IS THE GRANDEST THING EVER!

Date: 2010-05-19 05:23 pm (UTC)This show is pretty much my number 1 obsession right now,

Date: 2010-05-20 01:15 am (UTC)Gotta love Richard Scypher. ♥
I just got into the fandom recently but I agree, they are fighting so hard to get the show back and they love it so immensely. It's amazing to see that. :)

Date: 2010-05-19 05:24 pm (UTC)also also what episode is that last gif from? BECAUSE I HAVE THIS THING FOR RED CLOTHES JUST LIKE THE ONES THEY'RE WEARING OH MY GOD IT LOOKS GORGEOUS.
but i think it really is just that people haven't seen it. either they don't know about it, or they think they won't be interested, but if they'd see even one episode, i know they'd get all excited about it. it's just that good. ♥

Date: 2010-05-20 01:07 am (UTC)It's from S2 the episode "Perdition", and YES THEIR CLOTHES ARE GORGEOUS. BUT THIS ENTIRE SHOW IS FILLED WITH GORGEOUS COSTUMES SO I'M NOT SURPRISED THAT I WANT THEIR RED ATTIRE JUST AS MUCH AS I WANT EVERYTHING KAHLAN IS WEARING.

So much agreed to this. Also fantasy just isn't some people's style, but I think LOTS breaks that mold because there's nothing entirely complicated about the show. It's just fun and entertaining, with lots of action and sword-fights and women kicking ass and just, yeah. I think if people just sat down and watched an entire full episode they might start getting interested.

Date: 2010-05-20 07:03 am (UTC)So I just finished watching disc 2 of season one. I got to "Denna." There is nothing not disturbing about that episode. I think I may love this show. I want to watch more but I don't haaaave more to watch right now. I totally agree with you about the visuals of the show. It's so stunning. I usually am not a big fan of slow motion either, but the way they use it works.
(I'm sort of tempted to read the books, but I've heard terrible things about them. Maybe I'll just stick with the show)

Date: 2010-05-20 07:45 am (UTC)Oh God, "Denna" is simply an amazing episode. I remember being told about it and when I got to it, it was everything I thought it would be. So very disturbing, those Mord'Sith women are, but very awesome and hardcore at the same time. Apparently, this is a softcore version than what the books have in regards to Richard's "training" scenes. Much more BDSM in those. From what I've heard, anyway. ;)
Speaking of, I heard that the first book, Wizard's First Rule, is absolutely amazing. And every book up to like book 3 or 4 are just as great. But everything else after those kind of go downhill. I'm going to read the first book because I want to check it out and see if I like it, but mostly yeah, the show itself is just fantastic on its own.

Date: 2010-05-20 08:14 am (UTC)"Denna" was amazing. My favorite thus far. The Mord'Sith are just so freaky and awesome.
I have a friend who read the books who said that they have lots of gratuitous rape and BDSM. Not exactly my sort of thing, and he's pretty hard to squick. If it's well written and awesome though... Maybe I'll give it a chance.

Date: 2010-05-20 08:41 am (UTC)Cara is just gonna rock your socks off. ;)
I haven't read the books yet so I can't vouch for that, though yeah there are some questionable things that happen. I think in the later books? I don't think in the first one so, I guess I'll have to see.

Date: 2010-05-22 04:03 am (UTC)Richard is refreshing. He's so likable! Ah, this show. Why did I not start watching it sooner? Why did it not get saaaaved?! :(
Let me know what you think of the book!

Date: 2010-05-22 04:13 am (UTC)I KNOWWWW. D: There still may be some hope, I mean fans have raised over 20,000 dollars for supporting the show so, crossing fingers that somehow someone in the higher ups is listening to us and acknowledging our efforts. *crosses fingers and knocks on wood*
GIRL I JUST BOUGHT THE BOOK LIKE, JUST NOW. :D After the finale this weekend I am totally going to be sitting down and reading it, for sure. :D

Date: 2010-05-21 02:44 am (UTC)I think it would be cool if Misha guest-starred, actually. Because it would be a different kind of genre of television that he hasn't done before. I mean, he's done crime procedural dramas and supernatural-based shows, how would Misha be in a fantasy-based action-adventure show? That would be interesting to see him in that atmosphere.

Date: 2010-07-29 06:22 am (UTC)Now all we have to do is convince another network that there is still money to be made from this show and that new viewers are discovering it every day :)
