Definitely. Jimmy had strong feelings towards going back to his family in "The Rapture", if he had still been in there somewhere his hunger would have craved the love of them instead of the meat. So this is more of a residual physical body reaction than anything else, and you're right about the show not treating as though he is still there. So yeah, I'm fully convinced that there are still echoes there but mostly it's all Castiel now.

I am also pleased by the show using Castiel wisely and proving he can be an integral part of the show on an almost weekly basis.

Yeah, they've done a pretty good job with making him an interesting asset to whatever is happening in each episode. Though I do wish we could see what he's been doing with his search for God, I like seeing him in these kinds of episodes with the boys too.
