Here's another new longer promo for the series, which might be semi-spoilery but still is awesome nonetheless.

Certainly BSG fans are going to automatically scoff, suggesting that the prequel will never live up to its predecessor, that it's not really "scifi" in that traditional sense and so forth. I've read all the comments of the naysayers and quite frankly, they just stubbornly refuse to understand the purpose of the series created. Caprica is not supposed to be in comparison with Battlestar Galactica since they're both completely different with its genre types, however both deal with the same themes within the same universe. It'll still have the religious and political propaganda and the science fiction elements of technological evolution, of choices and consequences and morality, it'll still have all the themes present in the original, just in another format of family drama not set on a spaceship. That's all. Will be as epic as BSG? Probably not, but that doesn't mean one shouldn't immediately dismiss it because it doesn't look or feel anything like the previous.

Give it a chance, even those not familiar with BSG. It may just surprise you.

Caprica premieres tomorrow, Friday on the SciFi Channel. I've already bought the DVD of the pilot last year, but the one that'll air will be the censored version of it.

I saw the teaser episode a bit earlier and I absolutely loved it. I would be watching the show real-time but alas I don't get Sy-Fy (I really hate the new spelling - yes, still). My question, is the premier just going to be a re-airing of that first episode from a bit ago? Never mind just re read that last bit there. Why are they censoring it now, wherase before they didn't?

Hope the show continues to be as good as when I first saw it, it did look really promising.

They're only going to be editing out the nudity bits, which is what was present on the DVD (same with The Plan), otherwise it'll most likely be the same.

It certainly looks to have major potential to stand on its own. I also loved the pilot when I first saw it, it has the majority of the drama and the science fiction element all wrapped together nicely and I think if it's going in the direction where I think it's going, it's definitely going to be awesome. :D

Seriously. I've been waiting months for this to come out, and now it's finally here! :D Here's to hoping it starts off smoothly, because I really want this to last at least a full season and see where it's heading.

This is true. We'll see how everything goes, though. Even if this doesn't turn into a long-running series I really want this to succeed at least, because it has amazing promise for a lot of things to come from it.

I have to admit the concept sounds interesting plus I look forward to seeing a complex gay character on TV.

Me too. In fact, after just reading an interview with Jane Espenson and how they planned on mapping this out along with the background behind the Caprican cultures, I am definitely more intrigued than before. :D

I am so stoked for Caprica! I miss BSG so much and anything that expands on that is gold to me.

My sentiments exactly. Anything with expands and gives new light into the universe, particularly since we are going to be exploring more with the different planets of the Twelve Colonies and their cultures and the issues that arise, along with the start of the technological evolution of the Cylons, just has me excited and craving for more.

No one else on my flist is talking about Caprica -- so thanks so much for hitting on it.

BSG was my favorite show of the last decade, and I'm pretty much excited to see this new addition to the universe.
