++ I am vaguely amused by some of the ruckus surrounding the BSG fandom and the confirmed news that Bryan Singer will be directing the new BSG movie. I could understand if they were, say, taking what Ron D. Moore created and completely thrashing it apart by some big Hollywood production because that's of the "hell no" category right there. But this movie being a retelling of the original series, a re-reboot if you will, is going to be completely different from the epic journey we just finished up with. I mean, it's hilarious because the original fans were bitching about the re-imagined series being made, and now fans of the re-imagined series are bitching about them rebooting the original creation. Oh, such irony.

Fandom bbs, you cracks me up with your overreactions sometimes, I swear.

++ Luciana Carro (Kat) will be joining Caprica? HOLY FRAKKING SHIT, THAT IS AWESOME! Nothing's been given away as to what part she's been given, but I am stoked that she's been cast. I loved Kat in BSG. I wonder what role she'll play here, either connection with the Adama family or something of the like. Of course I'm just imagining the wild cross-connections between shows and what fanfic will be written because of it.

It would be funny if EJO made a surprise!cameo on the show, just because. Although I am just waiting to see if he'll appear on Dollhouse next with the rest of the BSG alumni.

++ Continuing with my SPN S4 Rewatch, I'm nearly done with writing up "Are You There God? It's Me, Dean Wincester". After that will be the following: "In The Beginning", "It's The Great Pumpkin, Sam Winchester", "On The Head Of A Pin", "The Monster At The End Of This Book", "The Rapture", "When The Levee Breaks" and "Lucifer Rising". Skipping around only for main plot-centered episodes that I favored (4.09 and 4.10 will definitely be skipped, for obvious reasons) and since we have like, what, counting down 23 more days until the new season? Hardly enough time to rewatch and write reflecting meta for them all, hell I'm not entirely sure rewatching these seven are going to cut it before the premiere date.

23 MOAR DAYS PPL, 23 MOAR DAYS UNTIL THE BOYS RETURN!

I don't think the Singer movie is such a big deal. It's a separate continuity, so it can't affect RDM BSG in any way. I'll just ignore it (unless I hear it's really great from a reliable source).

I'm really curious as to what part Luciana is playing. Are they going to make her look different enough from Kat?

I'm rewatching Dollhouse at the moment, to be followed by Doctor Who: Planet of the Dead, Battlestar Galactica, and Supernatural.

That's exactly how I feel, too. I'm not pleased with the news, but it really isn't a huge deal as some fans are making it out to be. I think the main reason people are making a fuss is because of the fear that RDM's epic series will be forgotten during this new movie or people will get a different perception from the series after they see it, which is an irrational but understandable fear to have. But like you said, the re-imagined series is not being touched and will not be ruined. It is epic and will remain epic no matter what other continuity happens in the future of either series.

People just need to sit down and chillax.

I think they probably will make her different from Kat....unless she's playing a younger version of say, someone of Kat's relatives or something. Now that would be trippy.

I don't understand why they're even bothering with a "new" BSG film; the re-vamped version of the original television series RDM gave us was spectacular, and I'm sure that Caprica will be as well.

Seriously, Hollywood, don't you have better things to spend your money on?

Oh, and speaking of Caprica, I am stoked over the fact that Carro has been cast. As for what part she'll be playing, I'd be willing to bet that she's going to be Papa Adama's love interest. XD

It would be funny if EJO made a surprise!cameo on the show, just because.

IF THIS DOESN'T HAPPEN, I WILL BE SORELY DISAPPOINTED.

I'm not sure either, I'm just thinking that if a revamped version did so well then perhaps rebooting the original into the new era might regain more attention than the old attempts way back when. I don't know. Either way, I just say let them. As long as they're not touching the re-imagined universe (which will always remain absolutely phenomenal and epic) I'm fine with them attempting to remake the original version.

I am seriously anticipating Caprica now that Luciana has been announced, and more since it seems that James Marsters will be joining as well. :DD

ME TOO BB, ME TOO! Eddie has to be involved in some way or another, either in directing or making a cameo appearance, I don't care. He loves the universe way too much to NOT be involved somehow.

Exactly. Just leave RDM's version alone, I'm fine with it. I may not understand why they're doing it, mind you, but nevertheless I'll be willing to just ignore it and go on about my merry way.

WHUT, WHUT, WHUT? James has been cast too?!

*flails madly and makes a special note to ask him about this at dcon*

THIS. Hell, I'd be happy if they were just to do the same thing with EJO that Ronald did in the series finale with him reading a newspaper. I don't care, I JUST WANT EDDIE TO BE INNIT SOMEWHERE.

Yep, it has been confirmed (http://scifiwire.com/2009/08/james-marsters-to-play-a.php) with the kind of role he'll be playing, too. Which sounds interesting. I'm loving the amount of guest-stars on both Caprica and Dollhouse, which someone pointed out there's a great deal actor-crossing going on.

I am not complaining about this at all, of course. More epic TV the better! :D

Wow, I'm thrilled to read that I and my fellow Luccinatics are not the only ones who are excited about Luciana being cast in Caprica. Kat was a controversial character, so it always feels good to realize that some fans appreciated the role and Luciana's performance.

Unfortunately, although I run Luciana's fansites, I don't know anything about her part in Caprica. But she said her character is not related to Kat or the Cylons at all. And I assume her look and attitude will be quite different from Kat's.

I have faith in Singer. He directed the first two X-Men films, The Usual Suspects, and Apt. Pupil afterall.

Kat was one of my favorite characters from BSG, so I'm happy Luciana is getting more work.

I think that's my main relief that Singer is attached to the project and not someone else, perhaps that's one of the reasons why I'm not as worried as some people are. Either way, resurrecting the original BSG story might be good or it might bomb, who knows? But I'm not worried about it because the new series has and will remain motherfakking epic. ♥

I loved Kat too. It'll be nice seeing her amongst the BSG-family once again. :)

I don't get the need to make a movie about BSG right now. The series just ended, Caprica is coming out... why make another movie about the same damn story? Way to beat a dead horse.

Yeah, I'm not pleased with the scheduling of it either. But there's nothing that can be done about it, apparently.
