Since I didn't reply to every single person I want to thank everyone for their wishes of congratulations on my last post. ♥ There was certainly some celebrating and partying afterward of course, but the entire event was fun and worth it.

There's much to report about what's been happening with me aside from that over the last week and what's coming up for me in the near future, but that'll be for a later date. I haven't really updated much regarding my fandoms, and I know I've been neglecting certain fandoms with all my Supernatural and Misha Collins squee, which I'm not ashamed or apologizing for of course, but I should mix things up a bit in the midst of all that squeeing.

With that, I've been going on a trip to Nostalgia Lane lately.

Rewatched some BtVS/AtS episodes, only the ones that featured my homegirl Faith, naturally. Fell in love all over again, not that I lost that love but it's nice to get a reminder of why she's so awesome, y'know? And of course while S4 of Angel wasn't the greatest by any means, just seeing the characters again was great too. I went on YouTube and after searching found pieces of my childhood on there. For example, I wanted to see if anyone uploaded some My Little Pony episodes and, lo and behold, there they were! I ended up rewatching My Little Pony: Rescue at Midnight Castle which was the very first MLP special ever, and it brought back so many memories! I used to rewatch that over and over again growing up. Funny thing though, it was a lot shorter than how I remembered it. I even found the New Adventures of Winnie The Pooh episode "Cleanliness Is Next To Nothing" With Crud. Yes, Crud, which I gotta say....THAT SHIT SCARED THE FUCK OUTTA ME WHEN I WAS LITTLE! I WILL NOT TRY DENYING IT! I was so scared that I was so fearful of under my bed for a long time as a kid. I really did think Crud was waiting so he could drag me under the bed forever. Seriously, no joke.

Then there's the Cannon Film version of Hansel and Gretel, rewatching some old Goosebump episodes, Gremlins, The Secret of NIMH...

Let's be honest, we had some dark shit growing up. Nothing like how PC many cartoons and children's movies are today. They seriously don't make them like they used to. This is why when I have kids you better believe I'm gonna brainwash them with my childhood.

The track list for the Battlestar Galactica Season Four Soundtrack is known!: http://karate0kat.livejournal.com/15951.html

I've meaning to look up The Secret of NIMH.

I graduated a couple of months ago. Congratulations!!!

Merlin the series premieres in the US today, I'm going to check it out.

I know, I already saw the tracklisting for the soundtrack like a few days ago.

The Secret of NIMH is classic, dude. That's my childhood right there. I have both the book and the movie and it's absolutely amazing, creative and imaginative. They really don't make stuff like that anymore, for real.

Thanks. :)

I've heard a lot of things about Merlin. I may check it out, simply because I know Anthony Stewart Head is in it. And who can say no to that?

Really, where did you see the tracklisting? It was news to me.

"Goodbye Sam". Squee!

Someone posted it over on [livejournal.com profile] battlestar_blog.

I'm just very happy it'll be a TWO DISC soundtrack, which is highly appropriate considering the many epic tracks the final season had. I also have the Caprica soundtrack now, and it's also really very awesome as well. :)

I have the Caprica soundtrack and all the Battlestar ones except the Miniseries soundtrack, which is on order. I also have assorted Doctor Who, Torchwood, and Buffy soundtracks and the Stardust soundtrack.

CONGRATS AGAIN!

OMG I wish Are You Afraid of the Dark would hurry up and come out on DVD. I miss it lol.

THANKS AGAIN! :D

I know, right? Though if I wanted to I could buy the already existing AYAOTD DVDs, since I have a multi-region DVD player and all.... ;)

From: [identity profile] icecoldrain.livejournal.com
lol, I saw goosebumps on DVD and I was like WHERE IS ARE YOU AFRAID OF THE DARK? And the movie was good to.

OMG remember that TV show that was about real ghost stories? I can't remember what it was called, but they had reenactments of what happened to that person and the stories about their hauntings.

I totes need Goosebumps on DVD! That was the awesome shit back in the day, for real. I would wake up every weekend morning just to catch that (among other things of course, remember Gargoyles?) The AYAOTD televised movie was awesome, I liked how it was spooky scary and well thought out plot wise. Very clever ending, too.

I can't recall what you're referring to, sorry bb. I'm trying to think but I honestly can't remember what that is....

I know, one of my favorite episodes was the mask one(the mask that wouldn't come off). I loved the books to, I don't think I have them anymore though lol. One of my favorite goosebumps books was the one that you got to choose the path the story went(like at the bottom you had a few choices and it would tell you what page to turn to).

OMG GARGOYLES! Whatever happened to it?

Oh, it was really good. In one of the episodes they showed the story of a guy who haunted a toys r us.

From: [identity profile] rogueslayer452.livejournal.com
I think I remember those books with the "choose your own path" stuff! Oh man, that was awesome. Wasn't there a book where you open the front cover and it made spooky noises? Loved that. I have so many favorites, the one I watched was the Shocker on Shock Street, Calling All Creeps and Night of the Living Dummy (with Slappy!)

They're making a new Goosebumps featured film now, did you know that?

Gargoyles was the shit, yo. I have no idea, it used to rerun on one of the cartoon networks or something, but that was a long time ago. I don't know if they do it now.

Hmmm, I don't remember a show like that at all. But it sounds awesome!

I love choose your own path books lol. There was a book that made spooky noises when you opened it? I never got that one, but it sounds cool.

They are? Yay, we need a goosebumps movie!

Yeah, Gargoyles was awesome. So was Doug! Remember the episode where weekends were taken away?

Date: 2009-06-22 01:01 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] rogueslayer452.livejournal.com
Yep, they are. I'm wondering what will happen in it, if it's going to be a compiled version of all the Goosebumps or something else entirely, and who will be starring in it (I would rather have unknown names, to be honest).

I didn't really watch Doug. Only like a few episodes if there was nothing else on, but that show didn't appeal to me as others did.

It'd be kind of weird if they tried to stuff all the books/episodes into one movie. Maybe it'll be like someone reading goosebumps and then realizing the book is coming to life?

I lived on nickelodeon, I even had the nickelodeon phone lol.

My only issue is that they better not try to PC it as much, by that not making into anything fluffy. The show pretty much set the standard for it being okay for kids but still scary as hell.

I only got into Nickelodeon during the beginning of my adolescent years. I lived off of Disney Channel (before it became bastardized) and PBS. XD

Date: 2009-06-22 04:37 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] icecoldrain.livejournal.com
Yeah, I guess we'll have to just wait and see. Hopefully it'll be as good as the show was.

Nickelodeon and the Disney channel have gotten pretty bad. I watched mostly nickelodeon, and some on the disney channel. The disney channel only came in on the cable box, but not anywhere else in the house because the rest of our TV's only had basic cable.

Gargoyles, like Buffy, is a comic now. I have the first volume and the second comes out next month. Four of the stories in the second volume were never released as individual issues before the individual issue line was discontinued. There's also a spinoff called Bad Guys, the collection of which comes out in August (with two stories that were never released individually). The Goliath Chronicles is totally ignored, of course. The comics are Greg Weisman's canonical Season Three.

From: [identity profile] rogueslayer452.livejournal.com
Wow really? I heard something about comics a while back but never furthered my research on it. Of course I never knew there would be an official expansion of the show. That's pretty cool.

It's sad that the kids of today won't be exposed to some of the darker and awesomer stuff we had growing up. Nowadays many of the kids shows and movies are kind of condescending and act like the kids are dumb or something. That's what irks me about what's being created today.

Hee, thanks bb! *hugs*

I've been dying to rewatch some BtVS lately, for whatever reason... Still think my favorite ep was Hush, because The Gentlemen were just so supremely creepy. Or, y'know, anything with Spike, because he's fucking royally hot. Mmmmmmmm.

Goosebumps were the SHIT.

"Hush" was a perfect episode, unique because nobody could speak. It was like a silent film, a really spooky silent film. The Gentlemen were creepy as hell. I feel the need to possibly rewatch season five, all because of Glory. She was an awesome villain, next to The Master, Angelus and the Mayor of course.

IT TOTES WAS THE SHIT, OMG. Goosebumps and Are You Afraid Of The Dark? and hell, even Ghostwriter. Why can't there be more stuff like this nowadays? Srsly.

Oh Glory. <3

I think kids are severely lacking in the "disturbing shit that could possibly scar you for life" department these days. Everything's too PC. Man, when I was a kid I had my dad shoving binders of fire department/paramedic crime scene and/or trauma photos in my face, saying "HERE DON'T LET THIS HAPPEN TO YOU MKAY?". I turned out fine.

...well, maybe not, but you know what I mean. I'm not a serial killer or anything. And I definitely wasn't subjected to anything as horrible as like The Wiggles or Barney or High School Musical. I was raised on ghost stories and horror movies, son. Yeahhhh.

Just to be fair, though, that Goosebumps librarian/mad scientist whose head floated off his body and he ate bugs or whatever? Yeah. That guy was pretty creepy. That shit fucked me up a few times when I was a kid. Now I'm just like, "Really?! LAWLS" but back then, it was scary stuff.

Date: 2009-06-22 04:31 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] rogueslayer452.livejournal.com
I know, I would vouch for no more PC stuff because we had much of that scary non-censored material and we turned out relatively well, more or less anyway. ;p But kids today, they don't know what they're missing. I mean, I know that Gmork from The Neverending Story scared the living daylights out of me or the Swamps of Sadness scene really was depressing, but I continued to rewatch the movie over and over again. Sometimes it's best to let kids face those scary things (I mean, isn't Doctor Who meant to be a children's or family program? Yet they have some disturbing kinds of stuff on there!) But oh well.

Ghost stories, horror movies, really disgusting kinds of things or the kinds of messages in movies that you wouldn't think would be G or PG today. I guess we were spoiled with the good stuff, yeah?

It's also funny though because we talk about kids movies being too PC, and yet I'm so horrified when parents take their kids to ADULT PG13/R kinds of movies in the theater. lolwhut? :/

Hehe, I realize the more I rewatch some of my childhood stuff I do find them lolarious because I'm like "why hello thar bad animation/poor CGI effects". But as kids we didn't care, did we? But even with that sometimes you have to say OMG THAT SHIT WAS SCARY AS FUCK! WHY DID I WATCH THAT AS A KID AND WHY DID MY PARENTS LET ME?!?! :OOO

I love going back and watching things I haven't seen in a while, and you've made me want to go back and watch some BtVS/AtS. I loved Faith, she's my ultimate girlcrush - so badass!

Date: 2009-06-22 12:01 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] rogueslayer452.livejournal.com
She was mine, as well. My very first established girlcrush, and srsly, who wouldn't be crushing over her? Faith has been and always will remain my favorite character out of BOTH shows because her storyline was so well developed. Also, gurlfriend was just so fucking fierce. ♥

Date: 2009-06-22 05:52 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] kitchensexslave.livejournal.com
I think it's physically impossibly not to crush on her. Hell, Buffy did!

There are some things which I think she shouldn't have done (obviously) but it's credit to Joss that she was always sympathetic, and all her action made sense, it was never EVIL!FAITH, it was just Faith, being herself. And while I'm not a fan of Faith/Angel, I did like the friendship they had.

*loves BtVS*

Date: 2009-06-22 06:41 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] rogueslayer452.livejournal.com
Hehe, yep, Buffy did have a crush on her! That is true. ;)

I loved that aspect too, the fact that even if she had superhuman powers she was still human. A human making bad choices and decisions and mistakes, and later accepted the consequences that came with it. I mean, her going to jail was her final decision, and we saw that she could've broken out at any given time with her Slayer strength and all, but she didn't. Because she was paying for what she did, gaining redemption. There's no black and white here, she was just herself trying to find outs in a world that didn't understand her or even give her the benefit of the doubt at times. I've always sympathized with Faith more than Buffy because of that.

I loved Angel/Faith's relationship, as well. I can go either way of it being platonic or romantic, but you have to appreciate that Angel never gave up on Faith and actually got through to her and understood her when nobody else did. ♥
