++ It's all rainy and yucky right now, so there goes my plans of going out today. Well okay, not entirely true since I do have a mandatory errand to run in a few, but still, sometimes I like going out just to go out and now the rain has prevented that. But also when it's raining I tend to be either relaxed or lazy, like I wanna curl up with the fireplace going with a good book or something.

++ I am beyond thrilled with the Dollhouse love on my flist. With all the pessimistic bitching and nitpicking from various places about it or whatever I'm glad there's the appreciation and positivity for it from others that I can squee and theorize with and all that exciting stuff, like what was done in my episode review. New fandoms are fun to play with, and I'm glad there's many others who feel the same way I do about the show in general. It's gonna be quite a ride!

++ Y'all saw Jamie Bamber's BARE SKIN ad for PETA, I'm assuming? Um. Yeah.

++ The Neverending Story is going to be remade. OH HALE NO. STOP RUINING THE CLASSICS YOU MOTHERFUCKERS.

++ There be butthurt in the Twilight fandom. But what else is new, amirite? I love the brutal honesty of actors and their opinions about the projects they're working on, especially actors like them who are constantly subjected to weirdass shit from these rapid crazyass fanatics of theirs. What's hilarious is how fangirls defend RPattz but bag on Kristen for saying exactly what he's saying. Heh. Batshit Twilighters are batshit.

++ You know what? They should really have promo character shots of Castiel. Or of Castiel and Uriel in their Badass Motherfucking Angel mode or something. I'm surprised there aren't single character promo shots of them yet, didn't Katie and Lauren have them last season even before their eps aired or something? I want some badass shots, with wings. There's gotta be wings, either shadows or misty-ones or whatever, ANGELS HAVE WINGS AND THEREFORE THERE MUST BE WINGS!

...I'm going through a Castiel withdrawal moment right now. Woe.

LOL! Oh c'mon, poor EJO. XD

Heh, I liked the little remake they did of Escape to Witch Mountain back then, cheesy but what can I say? Plus this new one is more of a re-imagined version of the story, not necessarily remaking the originals in its entirety. However yeah, The Neverending Story IS UNTOUCHABLE AND OFF LIMITS! You know what they say, don't fix something that ain't broke. The movie is NOT replaceable with some lameass new age version. Kids can see the old movie, forget about "modernizing" it just so they can understand it. KIDS ARE NOT THAT STUPID SO STOP TREATING THEM AS SUCH! GOD! *rages*

Yay, more Dollhouse love! Srsly. I'm sick of defending the show that I just wanna throw my hands up and go "look, you either like it and continue watching or you don't and you stop" because seriously now. People's nitpickiness is getting on my nerves.

I mean, I like theorizing what's happening and questioning things, but with the comments like "omg Eliza can't act" or "this is not Joss Whedon enough" or whatever the hell else, they can shove it up their ass and leave.

XD I think EJO might agree (personally I think BSG might be one of the few shows that there isn't any guy for me 'swoon' over. I swoon more over Grace Park, Tricia Helfer and Lucy Lawless then any of the guys...)

I think the fact its re-imagined is the only thing keeping me from being up at arms over the new Witch Mountain. It looks far enough removed from the original two movies that I can imagine its more like the new BSG vs. Old BSG. It acknowledges the original, but is clearly MORE then that.

I'm telling you wanna bet the next movie they're gonna redo is Flight of the Navigator? Or The Watcher in the Woods? Either one will have me pulling my hair out in shame. I'd rather they found a new fantasy book, that is maybe popular but hasn't been made into a film before, and make THAT instead of rehashing old movies I clearly remember watching when I was a small kid.

I'm all for the speculating and discussion and hey let's dig deeper into this (its almost required for anything by Whedon anyhow), but I don't understand why they expected him to make it like Buffy or Firefly or even Dr. Horrible. I see critics decry him because he's not 'original' enough (I'm sick of hearing how he puts powerful females that look weak to the forefront and then make them dependent on people) with each new venture, fans lament because he hasn't made anything like Buffy in so long, contemporaries of his alternately mock and laud him...so he does a show that is obviously not something people will be 'cool' with. He has a premise that is unsettling, uncomfortable, not PC...and now everyone wants him to go back to his 'safe' concepts like Buffy/Angel? Excuse me where were you people during Season 2 of Buffy with Angel becoming a demon after sex with underage Buffy? What happened to these people when Connor went bat!shit crazy? DID YOU PEOPLE EVEN REMEMBER WHAT THEY DID TO RIVER--which if you ask me is JUST AS BAD as what the Dollhouse represents.

It simply AMAZES me sometimes.

I like Eliza. I wasn't keen on Faith much of the time, but I liked Eliza.

Its funny because another show I watch, Legend of the Seeker (based on Terry Goodkind's Sword of Truth series) is by Rob Tapert and Sam Raimi of Xena/Hercules fame. A lot of their critics have also said 'it doesn't have the keen edge of sharp humor that Hercules had or the dark humor that Xena had. In short its not a carbon copy of their other successes. Get over it. If you want carbon copies of someone's brilliant works then don't bitch when it happens. /gets off soapbox

Hey, give me a Helo, Anders and Leoben anytime. ;) But you're generally right, there are more girlcrushes on BSG than the male ones.

It looks far enough removed from the original two movies that I can imagine its more like the new BSG vs. Old BSG. It acknowledges the original, but is clearly MORE then that.

My thoughts precisely. It's taking the original concept but adding its own mythology or backstory to it than what the others had, which to me is tolerable if you're going to be remaking anything old. And oh, they better NOT touch Flight of the Navigator or else I will cut a bitch! And ITA with you, there are plenty of other books and stories that would be nice to be made into a film. Stop with the unnecessary remakes. >:/

but I don't understand why they expected him to make it like Buffy or Firefly or even Dr. Horrible. I see critics decry him because he's not 'original' enough (I'm sick of hearing how he puts powerful females that look weak to the forefront and then make them dependent on people) with each new venture, fans lament because he hasn't made anything like Buffy in so long

Exactly. I find it very interesting and somewhat puzzling that Joss fans, who are so eager for anything by him, have dismissed Dollhouse because it wasn't what they expected it to be. I mean, haven't they read and seen interviews with him and Eliza saying that this wasn't going to be like his previous works? Don't these people do any research at all? I've said this time and again that people often associate Joss with an idea based on what he'd done with BTVS and Firefly, but when something new emerges they either accept it or dislike it because it wasn't up to their expectations. I see a lot of comments about that, how the show is "degrading" that it lacks "humor" and there isn't anything about "empowering women" whatsoever thus people are turned off by it.

Neverminding the fact that this is a more intellectual show where everything isn't just on the surface, and that while it's Joss Whedon it's a collaboration with Joss and Eliza; their minds melding together for this more mature and adult concept that may be too new and different for people to accept just yet (which is ironic considering that's how Firefly had been precieved as something entire different and didn't start getting its recognition until much later after its cancellation; but Dollhouse has something that unless people actually look beyond the surface and see it from a different perspective, a.k.a. their pessimism blinding them, perhaps they can see the promise and potential we do).

Then again, that's probably asking too much from some people who can't get over themselves or the fact that not all Joss projects are going to be the same, that he has a right to try and create something new. It astounds me how people think sometimes or expect. But hey, you can't win them all can you?

I really love Eliza, loved her as Faith and I followed her through her career and quite frankly, she's doing a marvelous job in the show. If people can't see that or can't take off those blinders, that's their own fault.

Overall, I think Dollhouse may be too good to be placed on Friday nights. Most people don't want to think at the end of the week, so heh.
