Six in my icon is how I am feeling right now. Calm, content, relaxed. Even after kind of an...interesting week, I feel very much at ease at this moment. I'm sure it's not going to last, so I'm savioring this feeling. I'll have more about some RL later, there's much to report back on what's been happening lately. F'reals.

Supernatural has been renewed for a fifth season! As if that's news to anyone, honestly. Besides, it's not entirely surprising that it got picked up, what after the stellar ratings sky-rocketing this season alone and all. Kripke can now finish the story he's telling in its completion, and another uplifting note to this is Misha Collins is going to become a regular. MISHA! CASTIEL! BOYS! SO MUCH LOVE! ♥ On the downside though is that TSCC is in danger of not getting renewed, there's still questioning about Dollhouse (though please FOX, let it run an entire season for once), and the most mindboggling thing of all...freaking Smallville is getting another season. Why in all that is good and holy, I don't know or understand.

I watched Monday's Heroes, and it was actually really good. I was pleasantly surprised. In fact, even though I still have some annoyances here and there I think there definitely has been some improvements. I don't feel so detached from how I felt at the beginning of the season, and things are moving smoothly with the actual storyline of the heroes being fugitives and whatnot. This episode was the companion to "Company Man", and it also provided the fanservice with lots and lots of hoyay! and USTing, like whoa. And Mohinder in his sexy sexy hotness and bondage, so yeah, me likey.

Battlestar Galactica: The Second Coming trailer. Imagine had this been the "new" Galactica series some odd years ago, eh? Many lulz is to be had watching that (and the "they have evolved" line cracks me up, lol). Richard Hatch as Not!Zarek is kinda interesting to see, all with the heroic stance. And the hair! Oh, that mullet-like hair.

SOON WE'LL HAVE BRAND NEW SPN WITH CASTIEL AND I AM VERY VERY HAPPY ABOUT IT! ALSO COMPLETELY JEALOUS FOR THOSE GETTING TO MEET MISHA AT TEH CON! BEING SO CLOSE TO SUCH PERFECTION, IDEK HOW Y'ALL ARE PREPARED FOR IT. OMG.

It's funny because S1 and S2 had that, we'd have an episode focusing on the brotherly relationship between Sam and Dean, but there would be something in the end or some little underlining thing about the bigger picture of the season to add to that mystery.

My initial thought was that might have been easier in seasons one and two, since the big arc - what the hell was up with the YED - was tied into stuff that was deeply personal; finding John, Sam's powers, revenge, yadda yadda. But then I realized that that's true this season too, isn't it? We've still got the thing with Sam's powers going on, and that's linked to Lilith, and Dean was pulled out of Hell to play some role in the apocalypse, which is obviously important to what's going on, but we haven't even found out his purpose yet. The character arcs could be integrated just as easily into the plot, but they aren't. The writers need to forget their love of suspense; tell us what Dean's job is and what Sam's been doing to beef up on his powers, because how they feel about and how that factors into the action is so much more relevant and meaningful than the mystery. The first three episodes of this season were perfect examples of how to integrate plot and character. Dean comes back from Hell and Castiel is (epically) introduced, and we get reunions and the powers reveal; a seal is broken and we learn about the apocalypse while dealing with Issues; Dean gets to meet his parents and learns what happened to Sam. 4x07 and 4x09 are other really good examples of this, as is 4x10 (because although episode did have some issues, it isn't nearly as bad as most of fandom thinks it is, IMO, and it did have a relevant plot that connected to Dean's character arc). (LOL, these are all Castiel episodes. Coincidence or bias on my part? XD) Obviously, SPN S4 is better than Heroes S2, as is pretty much everything except Heroes S3, but I do get a similar feeling from it; namely, that the plot has somewhere to go, but getting there won't take that long, so they stuff lots of filler in and hope no one notices. What's kind of sad is that it would be so easy to have more plot-relevant episodes, because there isn't exactly a shortage of seals. If Lilith were trying to break the 3 seals, then we'd have a problem. So it's almost like they have an idea that would serve the character arcs and instead of trying to find a way to bring the plot into it, they just go with it as is.

NO MATTER WHAT HAPPENS IN A DEAN/CASTIEL SCENE, I WILL BE PLEASED. BECAUSE IT'S DEAN. AND CASTIEL. And yeah, ITA! Have you read the latest Misha interview? There's some stuff about that in there.

Exactly. And seriously, I can understand having like an episode or two focusing on what isn't relevent, but sometimes it's best to really keep with the flow of the season. I liked the fillers well enough, but I were just a casual viewer and I saw that I wouldn't bother being interested in the bigger plot since it never had been revealed nor anything that caught my interest. So I think they definitely need to integrate more with the character stuff and the bigger plots.

What's kind of sad is that it would be so easy to have more plot-relevant episodes, because there isn't exactly a shortage of seals. If Lilith were trying to break the 3 seals, then we'd have a problem.

That idea is actually pretty nifty, having multiple Seals being broken at once, and honestly I think that would be kinda awesome. But yeah you're right. Though I've been curious about the Seals since we were first told of them in 4.02, and they could go a lot more about that. Like how these Seals are being protected and what precisely were they, is it just angels doing this work or others helping out, also we know the calculation of how many were broken, how about how many have been saved. All that could be something they could explore.

I do like where this season is going and they've taken such huge steps to bring everything we knew previously this far. It's those little things that kind of go into that "slightly flawed in their planning" category.

YES I DID READ THAT MISHA INTERVIEW! He's such an adorable man, I wanna squish him. And his capability for using such a huge vocabulary randomly into a sentence slays me every. single. time. ;D

Oh yes, me too. If every episode was a seal episode, we'd all be wanting a break. As it is, though, we've had two seal episodes out of fourteen, and over the course of that time, over half of them have been broken! That's ridiculous! Sam and Dean apparently have roles to play in this apocalypse, so that's what it should feel like, instead of them wandering around like it's business as usual except that angels come around to nag occasionally.

Like how these Seals are being protected and what precisely were they, is it just angels doing this work or others helping out, also we know the calculation of how many were broken, how about how many have been saved.

Yes, yes, exactly. I don't like being so in the dark about what the hell is going on - with the seals, with Dean's purpose, with Sam's powers, etc etc. We should already be in the know with all of that. And ooh, I really like the idea of knowing if there are other people the angels have chosen. Where did they come from? What are they like? Or is Dean the only one? Sigh, if the plot were more integrated, we'd know already.

I agree with you; I like this season a lot, actually. The character arcs are pretty strong, the filler eps have been solid, and uh, Castiel. I just wish the main plot were more of, well, a plot.

Not a day goes by in which I don't wanna squish Misha. *pets him*
